Flipz Posted April 10, 2012 Posted April 10, 2012 (edited) As Arthur squinted to line up his blast, he saw a strange sight. "...De'kra?" The ghostly figure hovered, apparently without effort, a few meters from the top of the tower, its eight eyes glowing dimly in the darkness. As the being whirled a rusted chain above its head, Arthur saw it was missing its right arm. With a sudden, nigh-imperceptible flick of its wrist, the chain snaked out, passing through the body of Lord Leorry in almost slow motion. The world dimmed. Arthur became aware of only three people: himself, the figure, and Leorry. The same seemed to happen to the elven lord, as he appeared not to even notice the burning arrow the keen-eyed Harkenshire fired across his shoulder, ripping apart the flesh and rendering it useless. Count Knyghton, too, seemed unable to penetrate the effect, as his attack went wide of the Elf, his surprised body language indicating his target was nowhere near where he saw it to be. As the tip of the whip passed through his flesh, Leorry stared down in surprise, as if the noncorporeal blow had already sealed his doom. Arthur's concentration broke. Surprised and bewildered, his Wood magic burst forth unexpectedly, slamming into the Elf with great force. As the body flew over the battlements, at a speed greater than any of his skill could have mustered, Arthur saw it seem to fizzle and flicker, as if belonging to another world and being drawn to it. The moment the body dropped out of sight, the world flashed back to normal. Arthur raced to the edge of the tower. He was just in time to see the body crash to the ground of the Courtyard. The man's belongings burst onto the hard cobblestones as if from a bulging, strained sack, but the body itself appeared untouched. It fizzed with an unnatural light, seeming to dissolve and yet not at the same time, then darken. From the earlier battles, Arthur knew the pallor of death, and yet the body's grayed flesh seemed...unnatural somehow. And yet, it seemed somehow familiar. Movement out of the corner of his eye brought Arthur back to the top of the tower. The figure, fading, raised its single arm to touch the fedora atop its "head" and tug it down more tightly. It studied Arthur, and he saw what appeared to be realization as it noticed he could still see it. It nodded, once, and then, drawing its incorporeal cloak around itself, vanished into the nothingness from whence it had come. Glancing down at Leorry's body, he noticed nothing different from the other Elven corpses, aside from an odd feeling of disorientation deep in his gut. Shaking his head to clear it, he let the Emerald fall to his feet and let off a quick Ice spell at Engineer D from the Back Row. Count Knyghton, seeing that something unnatural had happened to Arthur, stands between him and the onrushing Elves and charges Engineer C from the Front Row with his Spatha. Capt.JohnPaul Posted April 10, 2012 Posted April 10, 2012 Alexandre draws his sword and rushes back into the tower, meaning to go to the courtyard. "I,Luke, will just stay here, I guess..."
K-Nut Posted April 10, 2012 Posted April 10, 2012 (edited) "I,Luke, will just stay here, I guess..." Actually, since I'm up early, I'll take Luke for now. Althior grinned as he watched Davril fall limp to the ground. He had brought down two of the mighty lords, and he wouldn't stop now. "Alright, let's finish this! I will move to the officers quarters and attack Engineer C with Darkness from the back row." "Alright, I'll take Engineer C from the Back Row with Light," I'm assuming that because of the Horse, there are movement advantages, so it takes one of my two turns to get to the officers quarters and have one turn to attack, correct? Sloop Posted April 10, 2012 Posted April 10, 2012 Helm watched the body plummet to the ground and then turned to Xander, "That was a fair stroke!" Before he could say more, the clinking of weapons and a few quick words in elven came from the level below them in the tower. Gripping his sword tighter he motioned below them, opened the trapdoor, and lept down upon the elven scout.
posades Posted April 10, 2012 Posted April 10, 2012 Xander gave a quick nod in the direction of Helm, acknowledging his praise. He had no time to dwell on it, however; the end was near, with Elven Archer C his next target (from the front row).
Fred Daniel Yam Posted April 10, 2012 Posted April 10, 2012 Seeing that Xander was going for Archer C, William switches to attacking Engineer C and Scout C."

Staff of the Elven Necromancer (WP: 5; Darkness Elemental; suitable for Mages and Clerics) - Fashioned from the wood of mellyrn, this staff is capped with a flawless Amethyst. Cloak of the Invisible Elf (SP: 1; untargetable during the first 2 Rounds of any Battle; suitable for Rogues) - Though it appears ordinary and worn-out, this magical cloak can make its wearer invisible, causing all enemies to avoid targeting him during the first 2 Rounds of every Battle, including during Free Hits. Elven Bomb x2 - With no weaknesses but, at the same time, no strengths, either, this magical elvencraft bomb will deal 5 Damage to all enemies. Venom x4 - Used on a weapon to make it cause the Poisoned-effect on any enemy it hits for the duration of one Battle. A poisoned enemy loses 1 Health each Turn. 320 Gold
Flipz Posted April 11, 2012 Posted April 11, 2012 (edited) OOC: For gameplay purposes, it doesn't matter, but for RP purposes it does, so...Arthur's spell was an Ice spell. "We are victorious! Althior, I believe I claimed that Staff of the Necromancer at the start of the battle, I'll give someone else the Staff of the Elven Warlock if requested. I require nothing else besides some extra gold." OOC: give me a second to do some calculations, and I'll give the specific amount Arthur would need to conduct his business. Looking down at his feet, Arthur sees the Emerald that he had used when the mysterious figure appeared. He shudders. "William, you said you wanted this gem? Take it away from me, I dare not touch it. If you truly desire it, I will not stand in your way, but as a friend, I warn you...be wary of this gem. It is not...right. You might want to ask a more skilled Mage than I to take a look at it, to remove its curse." He shakes his head as if to clear it, and flippantly adds, "Oh, and I think you owe me 1 gold, William." "Master Arthur, are you alright?" No I'm not. "Yes, my friend, I am fine." With that, Arthur leaves the fort and retrieves Isabella's gold and dagger and gives them to her. OOC: If Arthur gets 80 gold, he'll be able to pay his debts and buy almost everything he wants from the Marketplace. Also, if anyone has extra Mage robes they would otherwise dispose of, Arthur would happily take them off your hands. "Oh, and Luke, the owner of that Healing Staff rented it out to me. I'll hold onto it now, I've made arrangements with the owner to buy it from them and will pay them as soon as I get back to the Hall." Edited April 11, 2012 by Flipz

Flipz Posted April 11, 2012 Posted April 11, 2012 While he waits for word on whether or not this was indeed the last wave of the Elven assault, Arthur begins making rudimentary repairs to the Fort walls, joined shortly thereafter by Count Knyghton. It's obviously an incomplete job, but Arthur's solid engineering work ensures that when the Lion Knights finish the job, the walls will be stronger than ever, featuring mounts for built-in drop traps, Slice N Dice blockades, and other surprises for unwary attackers. Arthur carefully draws out blueprints on a scrap of parchment, so that Count Knyghton can complete the work after the Heroes leave.

OOC: Yeah, but it's less after that rant about how much William dislikes Arthur. I'll give William what Arthur has left over after buying his supplies. K-nut, any chance Arthur could get a bit more than 80 Gold, since he's only asking for one thing and is willing to swap his current staff for it? I forgot that he needs to buy a Tonic or two. "Oh, yes, I had forgotten about...that. Well, consider your debt erased, and I'll see what I have left over after buying essential supplies. Don't forget, I still owe that Barbarian some coin..."
Fred Daniel Yam Posted April 11, 2012 Posted April 11, 2012 OOC: Yeah, but it's less after that rant about how much William dislikes Arthur. Ummm, it was for RP
Dharkan Posted April 11, 2012 Posted April 11, 2012 "Thank you Arthur, I almost forgot that I've thrown my dagger in combat." "About the spoils of war, anyone mind if I get the cloak?"
Capt.JohnPaul Posted April 11, 2012 Posted April 11, 2012 If anyone doesn't care, I'll take that sword.
K-Nut Posted April 11, 2012 Posted April 11, 2012 "Alright, let's divide this up. I'll take the Robe of the Elven Necromancer and pass the Robe of the Elven Warlock to Arasmyth. Since Arthur seems like he'll have an aneurysm if he doesn't get that staff (), I'll give it to Arasmyth him and take his Staff of the Elven Warlock. Arasmyth, unless you want this, I'll hold onto it and sell it back at the hall. Sword goes to Alexandre, Invisibility cloak goes to Isabella. Venoms go to Helm, Will, Xander, and Izzy. Elven Bombs go to Will and Xander. Arthur, you've undoubtedly gotten the most loot on this quest, so I will give 40 gold to everyone except for Arthur and Helm, who I will give 20 and 60." Althior watches for signs of Finnegan, but only hears a shout, muffled towards the west. "Of all the elves you killed, you couldn't get me any company down here?" "Finnegan? Where are you?" "I'm in the whole that no elf was dumb enough to fall for, though I, apparently, was!" Althior raced over with some rope to pull Finnegan out. "I was actually trying to go inside, but I tripped!" Althior patted his friend on the back. "There we go, now let's go home." Only one mind went through his head right now. Alexis.
Flipz Posted April 11, 2012 Posted April 11, 2012 "Um, Master, if you could possibly loan me 60 gold then, I REALLY need it for my purchases back at the Hall. I would be most grateful." OOC: Quest reward of 200 Gold goes to the four Scrolls, 25 goes to Alf for permanent ownership of the Healing Staff, and I need 50 to unmerge the Amethyst, plus I'd like to have a Shovel. " "Oh, and before I forget, I'll be taking my Garnet back, Luke."
Flipz Posted April 11, 2012 Posted April 11, 2012 (edited) "Yes, Master." Arthur then sits down to write to De'kra... Dear De'kra, Well, we've done it. The Elves have been driven from Bric'bay, and without the loss of a single Lion Knight's life. The fort itself was damaged in the final battle, but I have set the Count Knyghton to repairs and improvements, I am certain it shall be stronger than ever when the construction is complete. I'd like to ask what has been happening recently at the Hall. What new Quests are available? Have any of the other Quests arrived back yet? What of Cinna and Tomas, have they returned to the Hall? Any other new faces there I should know of? Also, there is something I would share with you. A most troubling vision, nay, an apparation that appeared in this battle. It was...beyond words. I hope that we may speak of this in person, and soon, perhaps that way the explanation may be understood more clearly. I hope that you are well, brother. --Arthur While Althior takes back his Garnet, Arthur asks Luke to give him back Alf's Healing Staff. Edited April 11, 2012 by Flipz
