Fred Daniel Yam Posted December 19, 2011 Posted December 19, 2011 (edited) "RuGard, start by making spikes with the wood, don't care if you use magic or not. Got it?" Edited December 19, 2011 by VolcanicPanik
Brickdoctor Posted December 19, 2011 Author Posted December 19, 2011 QM Note: Be more specific as to how you're going to do what you plan. I'm allowing a lot of freedom, but at the same time, it needs to be plausible. Arthur cannot possible freeze all the ground around the fort with only 5 Ether. Isabella cannot singlehandedly build any kind of catapult - there's no way she'd be able to build a large trebuchet and get it to the top of the tower, for example - she needs to describe how she plans to build the catapult so I can give it a reasonable Level and Health.
Fred Daniel Yam Posted December 19, 2011 Posted December 19, 2011 "Alright Toboso, I would like you to base the design on a Brickdocton Trebuchet and Seven, only freeze up a small part just before the hole. Clear?"
Kadabra Posted December 19, 2011 Posted December 19, 2011 "Toboso, may I borrow your dagger in order to sharpen these stakes? If you need it, I shall return it post-haste, but I have no sharp instruments on me." Arasmyth will collect the wood while waiting for Isabella's answer, then begin to sharpen it if she agrees.
Brickdoctor Posted December 19, 2011 Author Posted December 19, 2011 Isabella, you attempt to build a trebuchet based on the design of Bricdocton Forestmen, but you don't have the necessary parts. You need to find something to build the sling out of, and you need to use a piece of rope. You also cannot build it by yourself. Arthur, you need to wait to see how big the hole will be, measured in studs, so you know if you have enough Ether to freeze the ground around it. Arasmyth, you need to decide how you will sharpen the stakes and how you will get them into the ground, and you are still waiting for the Party Leader to approve of rigging the bombs with tripwires. Everyone else, you need to decide how you will dig the hole, where it will be, and how big it will be.
Dharkan Posted December 19, 2011 Posted December 19, 2011 "Anyone has some cloth? I need it for the sling part of the catapult. And also making a catapult alone isn't really possible it seems. I'd like some help when you are done with digging." OOC: Doc, do you approve the idea of trip wire with fire bomb? I think we have the required materials for that.
Capt.JohnPaul Posted December 19, 2011 Posted December 19, 2011 Alex tries to remember how big the fort is. "I'll get to work!" Alex digs by using his large helmet around the portcullis.
Kadabra Posted December 19, 2011 Posted December 19, 2011 Arasmyth gives Isabella some of the rope he found in the lean-to, then helps her to build the catapult. He offers his wide brimmed straw hat as a sling.
Brickdoctor Posted December 19, 2011 Author Posted December 19, 2011 OOC: Doc, do you approve the idea of trip wire with fire bomb? I think we have the required materials for that. QM Note:Yes, I do. As for the sling, I'm sure there are items in someone's inventory made from cloth, and you don't have to build a catapult that uses a sling.
Kadabra Posted December 20, 2011 Posted December 20, 2011 Arasmyth changes his mind, reclaiming his hat and instead gives Isabella the Robe of Magi (SP: 1) to use as a sling. OOC: Thanks for the hint, Doc.
Dharkan Posted December 20, 2011 Posted December 20, 2011 OOC: This will sound like meta in rp but thanks for the tip Doc. :) "Well instead of cloth maybe we can use a big bucket from fort for catapult. I'll go check it out. And if we all agree on tripwire, let's get started to it after we are done with catapult, time is the essence."
Fred Daniel Yam Posted December 20, 2011 Posted December 20, 2011 "Right, the hole is an 8-deep, 10x10 hole, I shall help clear it with my pick." "The trebuchet sling must also be cloth Toboso, so no buckets."
K-Nut Posted December 20, 2011 Posted December 20, 2011 Althior's jaw dropped as he looked at the ranger taking so much initiative! He had no idea why Harkenshire thought he was away for family business, for he had no family, () "Nice initiative, ranger!" He slapped his back, "Now, where were we? Oh yes! I certainly hope Spag hasn't cut down all the trees, has he? It would be quite a waste to repair some of them," Althior looked around to see any moss." I also say we make the hole a bit deeper, making sure that there's no chance the elves can get out," OOC: The deepness is in bricks, not studs right?
Fred Daniel Yam Posted December 20, 2011 Posted December 20, 2011 "Lets make it 10x10x10 shall we, Althior, your garnet could help us clear the hole faster if you want to use 1 Ether."
Kenghis Ghan Posted December 20, 2011 Posted December 20, 2011 "'Course I didn't cut 'em all down... The only ting I intend to erradicate from the face of the earth is the elves!"
posades Posted December 20, 2011 Posted December 20, 2011 (edited) OOC: Sorry guys, gonna be a busy few days for me; I'll only be able to get on very sporadically from here till after Christmas. Next in line can make decisions and all that. Xander was truly impressed by the initiative shown by his fellow quest mates; he knew now that they could succeed in the face of such adversity. "The trap with the fire bombs sounds like a competent idea, I am willing to volunteer my bomb if it is needed." Xander continued, "Arasmyth, I will gladly drive the stakes into the ground with my hammer when you are ready -- just say the word." With talking out of the way, Xander hurries over to Isabella and offers to help build the siege weapon. Edited December 20, 2011 by posades
Kadabra Posted December 20, 2011 Posted December 20, 2011 (edited) "As I'm working with Isabella on the trebuchet at the moment (she requires my rope and cloak), why doesn't Althior sharpen wood with Dragoro while Xander pounds them into the ground?" OOC: Just a suggestion, btw. I bold most things I deem important. Edited December 20, 2011 by Kadabra
Fred Daniel Yam Posted December 20, 2011 Posted December 20, 2011 (edited) You see some various critters and a few birds. I use my animal talk ability on the birds to see if they know about the Elven forces Edited December 20, 2011 by VolcanicPanik
Brickdoctor Posted December 20, 2011 Author Posted December 20, 2011 With talking out of the way, Xander hurries over to Isabella and offers to help build the siege weapon. Even with two heroes at work, you realize that you cannot possibly build from scratch without proper tools a machine as large and requiring as much precision in physics for optimal performance as the trebuchet in the time you realistically have. I use my animal talk ability on the birds to see if they know about the Elven forces You hear back from a few of the birds.<"We've seen several elven scouts in the woods in the past weeks."> <"My mate's companion's fourth hatchmate spotted fearsome constructs of wood and iron heading through the forest.">
Fred Daniel Yam Posted December 20, 2011 Posted December 20, 2011 "That doesn't sound good, Toboso and Xander, I think we need to make a simpler machine, just make two A-frames out of wood, a long wooden beam with a rope and the cloak of the magi at the end." "We better work faster folks, Elven scouts can ambush us anytime." "Let's move chop chop!"
Capt.JohnPaul Posted December 20, 2011 Posted December 20, 2011 Ouch, massive wooden structures. I'm assuming siege towers. We're going to need more long ranged things. I think we could build plenty of balistas. We make a giant bow, and use the rope we have to make the string, and we could propel some sharp stakes we make and put holes in the tower. Shall I go ask some Lion Knights for assistance while the rest of you dig, sharpen stakes, and try to accomplish this catapult?
Fred Daniel Yam Posted December 20, 2011 Posted December 20, 2011 "Yes, go! Alright, if I have some wood, I will make a wooden box without a top. If Althior can lend me a Lightning gem (Topaz?), I can fit it inside the small box, take off the front wall and place a mirror or shard of glass behind thats, I can channel the gem's power as a hand cannon."

None of the other towers or walls are wide enough to accommodate siege weaponry. If you are to field more than one siege weapon, the others must be placed outside the walls of the fort.

If you are to field more than one siege weapon, the others must be placed outside the walls of the fort. I think we could place them outside on a raised platform or something, and surround it with the stakes so the elves can't get to it, and when they get too close, the operators will flee back into the castle. We just need wooden support poles, rope, and planks to tie all it together and create a steady platform. Shall we start to try and build one and test fire it?
Fred Daniel Yam Posted December 20, 2011 Posted December 20, 2011 "Ok, start building the platform while I try to make my hand cannon."
