Geeus Cist! That thing is huge. Very impressive.

Lol... why is it that whenever I see the word Yamato, I instantly think it's a reference to SPACE Battleship Yamato? :-D

That picture reminds me of a submarine from a cartoon I once saw when I was younger. A super-sub battling alien invaders.

Can anyone remember that cartoon?

It was this cartoon. Can't remember ever seeing it, but I do remember there was a ship in Star Trek called Yamato.

I like that space ship...liretally a ''ship'' heheheheh.

Yeah, in the first episode of the show, the japanese dug UNDER the wreckage of the real battleship, and covertly built the space one inside it so the aliens wouldn't know that they... ... ... ...

Oh god I completely hijacked this topic, didn't I? *sad*

Yes, but now you made me want to wiki the show to see the synopsis :-P

I like the Cat in the background more! :-P

A funny thing I notice about mocs this large, they're always based on a pre-existing design of something else, be it a real battleship or even a fake one from Star Wars.

True, some of the builder's originality is expressed inside simply the skill of constructing such a thing, but rarely is a super-huge moc ever of an original concept.

You never see someone so brave with a fantasy design in their head that they'll take the financial and chronological plunge to see it become massive...

I like the Cat in the background more!

Anime character "Doraemon", a magical space cat that has a pouch on his belly with black hole-like abilities to store junk in it (much like the earlier Felix the Cat's "bag of tricks").

Nice one *y*!

I like his other stuff even better - like the DORAEMON and his other large anime sculptures *wub*.

He really needs to get a lot of basic bricks 8-

LOL. It wasn't till this post that i was reeminded what the thread was originaly about. Been looking up Star Blazers for the last half hour! :-$

The ship is great! Reminds me of the mini fig scale aircraft carrier thats on brickshelf.

Oh great. Now I will have large blue cat nightmares...

this guy has also the space Yamato build in his brickshelf. And some nice japanese temples. :-)

I'm not sure if there is already a topic about this (I think I've seen one a loooong time ago, when it was in a very unfinished state, but I can't seem to find it).

Anyways, here it is:

(translated with google translator, originally japanese)

Unfortunately it is not my creation, I wish I had a collection to build that :cry_sad:. There's also some other great mocs on that site worth checking out.

Found on Gizmodo this morning...

"Like its real counterpart, this Battleship Yamato is the biggest Lego ship ever constructed. At 22 feet long, it took 6 years and 4 months to complete by one of our Lego contest winners. [updated]

The Yamato—along with her sister ship Musashi—was the largest battleship ever constructed: 862 feet and 10 inches long and 121 feet long at its widest point. Made by Jumpei Mitsui, the Lego version was constructed at minifig scale (1/40), which is an amazing task that resulted in these specs:

• 22 feet long.

• 3 feet wide.

• 330 pounds.

• More than 200,000 Lego pieces.

And of course, it looks amazing:"

A quick search will reveal this thread already discussing the ship.

  • 2 weeks later...

And another merged in.

The result is amazing, i especially like the planes on the back of the ship and the motorized gun! :sweet:

I hope the builder will join us some day to discuss his wonderfull work.

Wow :oh:

That is a lot of gray parts

Do you think it will ever be taken apart? A silly question I know, but I'm curious
