Posted December 17, 201113 yr I've recently started building my 7066 Earth Defence Headquarters and have just finished the little Viper fighter ship from bag 2. However, the canopy piece wont stay shut - it keeps opening slightly - whenever you push the canopy piece down, it pops up very slightly at the front end, leaving a noticeable gap and looks ugly. Does anyone else with this set have this problem, and have you done anything about? or is it just me? I've been through the instructions and seem to have built everything correctly. I've seen pictures online and the canopy piece certainly seems to look fine in ever picture I've seen. Sorry if I've started this thread in the wrong forum, or if starting a new thread for this is unnecessary but I didn't want to bump the review topic for this set. December 17, 201113 yr I do not own 7066 myself, but I do on occasion deal with similar issues in other sets and MOCs. Have you tried reassembling the canopy piece-by-piece? Perhaps an unevenly placed or projecting brick is causing the windshield to be stressed open? In a worst-case scenario there may be a strained or faulty piece... I hope you are able to find a source to the issue.
December 17, 201113 yr I have that gap too! I hate it and hope someone finds a solution. Seems to simple to be causing the gap.
December 17, 201113 yr I have seen that before on a French forum (SeTechnic) with the Star Wars Imperial V-wing 7915 using the same canopy. http://www.setechnic.com/Forum/topic5482-15.html On this pic you can clearly the default of the piece: Ask LEGO to replace it.
December 17, 201113 yr Lol, that looks like you could just bend the tab down to get the right angle. Of course, that would probably put a stress mark there.

Thanks! - I've just examined my piece and compared it to your picture. Assuming the one on the left is the faulty one, like I assume it is, then it looks like you've solved my problem! Thanks for your replies everyone else, much appreciated.

I guess that piece got into all the sets.
December 18, 201113 yr Yep! Mine also like the one on the left. Ugh. At least someone figured it out. How do we go about getting a replacement? Edited December 18, 201113 yr by ETAV8R
December 18, 201113 yr Yep! Mine also like the one on the left. Ugh. At least someone figured it out. How do we go about getting a replacement? You can order free replacement parts here. Just fill out the forms and you should have a replacement within a few weeks (perhaps longer since it's around Christmas time, and exact time depends on here you live).
