Quarryman Posted February 1, 2012 Posted February 1, 2012 "Yes, I'd also like to know where the hell Dmitri went before making any decision on this."
Sandy Posted February 1, 2012 Posted February 1, 2012 Ellaria listens to the old mage's story. "What exactly do you intend to do if you get back to Eubric, Atticus? You know better than any of us how influential and powerful your family is. You cannot think you can single-handedly defy the Ziegfrieds, can you? They will only lock you away again, and probably to a place where you cannot escape, I'd imagine. Wouldn't you rather just leave Eubric and your family be and search for a new life elsewhere? This world is a vast place, as you know..." Ellaria hoped her talk would make the wizard reconsider his terms.
JimBee Posted February 1, 2012 Author Posted February 1, 2012 "Dmitri? I suppose that is one of your adversaries that you've been fighting? I have no idea who or where he is. He must either be wandering in jungle or already dead by now." "As for my intentions when I return, there are some internal family matters that must be taken care of before I depart Eurbric for good. I believe I've learned my lesson. This many years on an island... don't you think that's punishment enough? And as I said, the rewards will be great if you choose to do so."
CMP Posted February 1, 2012 Posted February 1, 2012 "...don't you think that's punishment enough? And as I said, the rewards will be great if you choose to do so." "How the hell are we supposed to take the word of a dark wizard who's been marooned for years on this forsaken isle, eh? You're probably insane. And by 'internal family affairs', I'm going to go ahead n' assume you mean trying to kill the rest of your family." McCafferey continues circling happily around the Ziegfried's head, to which Atramor frowns, but does not directly respond to. "What is this reward, exactly?"
Quarryman Posted February 1, 2012 Posted February 1, 2012 "So you can't help us with finding Dmitri, fair enough, what do you offer us in return for letting you go?"
JimBee Posted February 1, 2012 Author Posted February 1, 2012 "I have some gold hidden away back in Eubric, and I can get more. Let's say... 600 gold, shall we?"
CMP Posted February 1, 2012 Posted February 1, 2012 "I have some gold hidden away back in Eubric, and I can get more. Let's say... 600 gold, shall we?" "I dunno...those are some awful shiny gems on your sword there, mate. Not to mention whatever morals I got'll still be in order if we take 'ya down right here..."
JimBee Posted February 1, 2012 Author Posted February 1, 2012 "Unfortunately I still need these gems to direct my power in my weakened state. Besides, I wouldn't call you a moral person, Rogue, especially when it comes to respecting your elders. Ones who could really teach you a lesson, at that."

Besides, I wouldn't call you a moral person, Rogue, especially when it comes to respecting your elders. Ones who could really teach you a lesson, at that." "I've never had elders, mate. Didn't yours ever tell you off about dabbling with evil? I may not be the model moral person, but I know a liar when I see it."
Bricksandparts Posted February 1, 2012 Posted February 1, 2012 Alf whispers in Atramor's ear: "Use cape. Find how powerful he is..."
CMP Posted February 1, 2012 Posted February 1, 2012 Alf whispers in Atramor's ear: "Use cape. Find how powerful he is..." Atramor mutters his thanks to Alf and attempts to discern Atticus' stats.
Jebediahs Posted February 1, 2012 Posted February 1, 2012 En Sabah Nur had avoided all interraction with the Ziegfrieds as he didn't think they'd approve of his thievin' past but this family member seemed more...progressive in his thinking. The wizard could be a powerful ally and teach the earth mage a thing or two. It'd be a shame not to pass on the knowledge of such taboo and rarely studied magical practices. Nur covered his mouth and chuckled softly. Atramor was correct, those gems looked tempting and the only way to get them would be to defeat the old coot. "Alright enough. If you want to fight this wise aged man, make a bold statement for or against. I want to get off this island already."
JimBee Posted February 1, 2012 Author Posted February 1, 2012 Atramor checks the wizard's stats with his Cloak of the Elven Spy: Atticus Ziegfried Type: Humanoid Level: 10 Health: 400/400 Special 1: Hex (brainwashes attacker, causing the target to attack a random ally instead.) Special 2: Lesser Seal (performs curse on attacker, causing Sealed effect for the next turn or until remedied.) Special 3: Lesser Blind (uses magic to blind the attacker, causing Blinded effect for the next turn or until remedied.) Drops: Sword of Decay (WP: 5, once the target is inflicted with damage, they lose a quarter of the power of the strike each following turn for three turns. the effect cannot be compounded with more strikes. Suitable to Mages, Knights, and Barbarians) Note: Atticus is immune to all negative effects (besides KO). The special used is determined by die roll (50% for each). QM Note: An example for the Sword of Decay: The strike has a power of 16, so for the next three rounds the inflicted target will suffer 4 damage. Always rounded down.
CMP Posted February 1, 2012 Posted February 1, 2012 "We can take 'em," he mutters sideways to each of the party.
CMP Posted February 2, 2012 Posted February 2, 2012 "I say we take the bastard down." McCafferey throws an uncharacteristically dirty look at Atramor, which he responded to with a flustered blink.
Bricksandparts Posted February 2, 2012 Posted February 2, 2012 "Don't kill him, just knock him out! He may prove useful to the Ziegfrieds... Also, we may get both rewards."
Quarryman Posted February 2, 2012 Posted February 2, 2012 "Yes, let's take him down, he's weaker than the Finegold brothers."
Jebediahs Posted February 2, 2012 Posted February 2, 2012 "Are you hearing this, Atticus? It's not looking good for you. Do you have anything else to say that could change their minds? Are ya sure you are unable to part with the gems? En Sabah Nur's thoughts drifted back to the old mage's ability to create powerful storms. He wondered if the aeromancer Arasmyth could produce such a feat.
Quarryman Posted February 2, 2012 Posted February 2, 2012 "Look, I'm not going to be unreasonable here, and I'm sure a powerful old wizard like you can teach us many things we don't know, things that make us more experienced so to speak.."
Sandy Posted February 2, 2012 Posted February 2, 2012 Ellaria hesitates about her companions' eagerness to fight the wizard. "I just hope we can locate our ship if we take down Atticus... I wouldn't want to be stuck here on this island for the rest of my life, after all."
CMP Posted February 2, 2012 Posted February 2, 2012 "He says the ship's on the other side of the island. We all either want loot or to kill him, and he don't look like he's in a position to give any more. Is there anyone opposed to killing him?"
Bricksandparts Posted February 2, 2012 Posted February 2, 2012 "He says the ship's on the other side of the island. We all either want loot or to kill him, and he don't look like he's in a position to give any more. Is there anyone opposed to killing him?" Alf whispers to the others "Perhaps the Ziegfrieds would reward us for bringing him back alive, but sealed again so he won't cause havoc. Alf still think we can get him sealed again, find Dmitri, and make a deal to Atticus Ziegfried and the other Ziegfrieds. If Atticus Ziegfried pays us more, we will allow him to live, but if the Ziegfrieds pay more... We'll hand him over to them or have him killed. We should probably just knock him out or trap him. We still have to find Dmitri though..." Alf lets the others think while he works on making a net of some sort to trap the mage.
Sandy Posted February 2, 2012 Posted February 2, 2012 "Perhaps the Ziegfrieds would reward us for bringing him back alive, but sealed again so he won't cause havoc." "Huh? I don't think the Ziegfrieds want to see Atticus ever again, that's why they sealed him on this island. Mind you that he has not escaped yet. Now what would the wizarding family think if we brought him to them and just say 'Look who we bumped into!' I don't believe they would be exactly thrilled..."
Bricksandparts Posted February 2, 2012 Posted February 2, 2012 "But remember that they couldn't kill him." Alf whispers to the others. They could not kill me, no, I was far too powerful, but they did manage to seal and bind me to this island. "We could bring him back alive, and offer to kill him, unless he is willing to out-pay the other Ziegfrieds. That way we get the original reward from the Bonapartes, and possibly a good reputation with the Ziegfrieds plus if it works, some more gold."
CMP Posted February 2, 2012 Posted February 2, 2012 "I dunno. He managed to wreck 2 entire ships, even with his reduced power. I don't think unconsciousness will stop him from fightin' back, and I really don't wanna worry about a dark wizard on our continued chase to get Dmitri." He glances up at the wizard, and then back at the party. "Either way, we're all in agreeance to attack him, yes?"
