En Sabah Nur takes full advantage of the opportunity to rest and quickly falls into a restful sleep. His mind displays a hazy scene of a watery elemental and an elemental made of stone and dirt.

dream03.jpgThe dream is clearly referencing Nur's aquamarine and garnet gems.

dream01.jpgNur's desires continue to manifest in a cloudy haze of feminine companionship.

Alf gets up from his nap and fiddles with some sticks. While he waits, he gets some twigs and forms them into a flattish-tiny tepee and ties it together with some string. he makes 6 of these, one for each member of the group. The sun's ray were really beating down on them after the cold night. He left his bag with the group and walked down to the beach and went to the ship. He changed and walked out into the water and cleansed himself. After his bath, he dries off and got his clothes back on. He went back to the camp and rested for a while. Alf gets up again, takes a good stretch, and walks around the forest, looking for berries or good food. He then brings back his food, sets it in his hat, and finds some leaves to rap around his bruises. After remembering Atramor's scar, he brings some more leaves to the camp. He scrunches the leaves in his hand, and pours the liquid substance onto his bruises. After a small sense of pain, he raps some leather around it. The others are still resting, so he waits for them to awake before offering to do the same for them. Alf decides to go back to sleep.

Atramor grumbles at the crumpled hat containing McCafferey, standing nearby the stern of the ship, island growing fainter behind them, He's far from happy, however, as the disgruntled chicken continues thrashing about in his hat.

"I half-wish you coul' just tell me what the hell...was it the phoenix? You didn't seem upset the first time we wasted that thing...c'mon girl, what's the problem?"

He cracked open the fabric of his hat, and peered inside. The beak and head that shot out of it nearly took out his eye - with a yelp, he dropped it, revealing McCafferey once more, feathers ruffled, and clearly angry.

In fact, the anger couldn't be any more obvious, with the cold, piercing voice that sounded through the pirate's head.

"You are an idiot, Atramor Gibbin, a downright idiot. What does fate have to do to get you to understand anything? You're on an island populated with a dark wizard and nearly half a dozen Ether users, the magic and bloodlust flowing through the air, and you cut down the bloody Ziegfried that could've potentially snapped your life back onto the path I've been trying unsuccessfully to get you on your entire bleak life. You release an unspeakable magical presence rather than embracing the opportunity, you save a bloody child rather than properly questioning the cult that could've done the same to affect your destiny, and now you have evaded the third chance for you to at last see the point behind your miserable existence. Do you think it was sheer bloody luck th- no, that's right, you don't even believe in that. You act as if your life is entirely under your own control, but it has not once occured to you that something else just might be influencing you, has it? You're as bloody wrong as nearly every hero in that bloody hall about how justice should be dealt or in what manner, even though you have a greater chance that most any of them to truly see how life should be run, how it should be structured, and how terribly, horribly, and awfully this single island is a grimy parasite infecting the better half of the world with its skewed views about everything down to the last rat, and its ignorance of its own corruption. Learn to take a hint, you gold-lusting, lock-fumbling, light-fingered, half-blind rogue. Know when to do what and when to not do what. There are more factors in this world than how you choose to do things, know that. There is so much you are ignorant of, it is a miracle you've survived this far. If it weren't for me, you would still be reveling in your own pity on that grubby little port. Understand that there are more than two dimensions to life and you may just be able to make something out of the fate you've already muddied."

The chicken flapped off to another section of the ship. Atramor slunk into a gap between a barrel and a crate and stared with hollow eyes at his hat, which had curled into cinders to ponder the words of this...thing.

When did chickens get so complicated?

After leaving on the ship, Alf goes to bed again.

---

After looking around the beds where the heroes were, he realizes Atramor is gone. Alf gets up and walks out of the door into the bright light. Atramor seems to be having a fit inside his hat. After the fit seems to stop, he walks over and sits down next to him. He takes out his once empty potion vial now filled with the leaves.

"Your scar. You want Alf help?" Alf offers the vial and a piece of leather to wipe over the X scar on his cheek.

Alf thinks about his own scar. On the left side of his face, a scar running downward from a never-forgotten battle in his life. He had made a narrow escape from an Orcish tribe. He had barely saved... He washed that thought out of his head. He swept his hand over his scar. It reminded him of it almost as if it happened yesterday. He had killed so many innocents out of his anger. When he looked back up from the water, a little light was hovering above him. After squinting at it for a long time, he realized it was not a light at all, but instead a little fairy. Then, it flew off a few feet, then flies away, vanishing. It doesn't seem that Atramor even notices. Alf decides he was just imagining things...

Alf contemplates his past. As he does so, the fairy appears to him again. The fairy motions him over to the end of the ship. The waves splash up onto him as they travel to Eubric.

"There is more to you Johon."

"Johon?"

Just then the fairy flies away again.

QM Note: I'm just letting you all roleplay for the moment (as you've done - great job!). Just give me the word when you want to continue.

Alexis woke from her fitful sleep. She'd had a dream about Althior, then Ellaria came into it. In her dream Althior was lying dead on the floor of their room while the murder jumped out of the window laughing, then it faded to Ellaria leaning against a wall crying. It was just so confusing. She got up and went out on deck, first making sure Ellaria was okay, she just wanted to escape. She saw that they were nearing the port, and she was happily reminded that Althior might be back from his quest so she might be able to dispel her dream about him. She was ready to be home.

After a long night of rest (for some, at least), the heroes re-emerge to the deck, where the crew is already working furiously to make port. Whales is shouting orders from the wheel when he notices the party.

6392024785_f232c4a467_t.jpg

"Ah, yer finally awake!" he shouts down to the deck. "We're nearin' Eubric Freeport now, so make sure ye got everythin'. An' don't forget, I'm still expectin' my share! Wahahahahaaa!".

With the sun rising behind them, The Mercutio finally reaches the docks and comes slowly to a stop. Deckhands hop out and tie the ship down, and extend the boarding plank. The heroes disembark, glad to be on solid ground and home once again.

The final task to complete before returning to Heroica Hall is to meet Phillip Bonaparte again. The party heads towards the fish market, where they eventually find the ambassador to the family.

6392024883_0234fe10e7_t.jpg

"Ah, heroes, welcome back. I hope your mission was a success, yes...?"

How will the party respond?

Atramor mumbled incoherently in agreement with Alexis, unable to work out a proper response due to lasting shock. Dark circles lined his eyes. McCafferey was nowhere in sight. He did, however, wave vaguely to En Sabah Nur, who still held Edward's amulet.

After docking at Eubric, Alf (Johon) walks up to Phillip Bonaparte with the rest of the party. Alf sucked in his breath and tried to talk the most professional.

"We managed to find and fight both of the brothers. We did manage to stop them, but one got away..." Alf drops Edward at the Bonapartes feet. "I hope you understand that our QM didn't let us chase Dmitri Dmitri was able to get away."

Just then Alf has a thought. He walks over to the group.

"Remember man who sell telescope? Perhaps something else we can do about that."

Posted

En Sabah Nur matched the elf's hushed tone. "Tell him whatever you like concerning the old mage but it's none of his business." He hands the Finegold amulet to Philip. "Aye, Alf is right. We thought both brothers had been slain but we were mistaken. We stopped them but you'd best inform your people that Dmitri is still out there and will most likely continue to cause your family trouble." Nur puts a hand to the collected phoenix ashes and wonders if there's anything he can do with them.

Again, the fairy passed close by Alf. Alf excuses himself from the group and walks over to the fairy.

"What do you want? I don't understand who, or what you are."

"You don't remember? I thought that..."

"I never knew you."

"Didn't your parents ever tell you?"

"I live in the wild, I'm no fortune teller. Why do you act like Alf know everything?"

"You never knew?"

"knew what?"

The fairy started to fly away, then vanished again.

"Knew what?"

Nur looks over at Alf, mutters something under his breath and turns back to the Bonaparte.

Alf repeatedly mutters the same phrase in low whispers:

"Knew what?"

What did he not understand about this. Who was this 'fairy' after all?

After a few minutes, Alf stops muttering and walks back to the group. But still, the thought bugs him for a long time.

Alf hears a voice inside of his head, but cannot make out the words. He closes his eyes and concentrates. He sees a blurred image of someone walking in a forested area, but cannot make out the face. The thought vanishes, and all he sees is black. He opens his eyes again, yet again seeing the fairy. He rushes towards an alley but the fairy persists.

"Have you met before?"

"Who is she? Wait how'd you know what I was thinking about?"

"You'll know in time."

There is a long pause, then Alf remembers what the fairy first said to him.

"You called me Johon. My name is-"

"Your name... is Johon."

"How would you know?"

"I thought you knew."

"I Would know. I know what my name is. It's not some Johon. My name is Alf. You haven't bothered to tell me who you even are!"

"I am your conscience, your thoughts, and a Zothen. I was granted to you as a child. The city had commotion, and I was separated from you. It took me 22 years to escape from Ziens. It took me 2 more years to find you. I saw your ship and came down to you."

"Ok now you are really creeping me out. Where is Ziens? I've never heard of a Zothen before! You... Don't... Exist! I don't know who you are, or why you chose to chase me around, but you don't exist. You don't exist!"

"Did you ever know?"

"Know, Know what?"

"Do you know your parents?"

"Yes, but..."

Alf rushes in circles, then back to the 'Zothen'.

"Why am I even talking to myself?! You don't exist."

"I'll only exist if you want me to."

"Good, because I don't."

"I can tell you what is going on. I can tell you who your parents are. I can help you."

"I don't need any help! I already know!"

"Those aren't your parents."

"Who?"

"Who you believe are your parents are not."

There is a long moment of silence, then Johon speaks.

"Fine. Tell me what you want me to know."

And with that, Johon is acquainted with the Zothen.

Alf walks out of the alley back to the group. Now the group can see the fairy hovering above Johon's shoulder.

Note to players: This is the first time the other heroes can actually see the Zothen. Also, nobody knows Johon's real name.

"So you mean to tell me that you've failed?". He accepts the medallion. "Well, you got half the job done. It is unfortunate, but a deal is a deal and you've gotten rid of at least half of the plague, along with some of the Finegold brothers' followers, I suspect. Here's your 1,000 gold, we may call upon you again to finish the job. However, there will be consequences for your actions... Until next time, then," Phillip says with a look of disappointment.

+ 1,000 gold

+ Improved reputation with the House of Bonaparte

The heroes then head back to the docks, where Whales and Thimlin are waiting. Nur hands over a pouch containing the 100 gold.

6392024785_f232c4a467_t.jpg

"Thank ye kindly. If any o' ye ever need a lift somewheres... you just let me know," he says with a wink.

6392038821_ee98952d0c_t.jpg

"Thank you heroes."

The party then departs, ready to return to the Hall. Before they can get through the fish market, though, a turbaned woman beckons to them from an ally way.

6878078519_53dc4f5578_t.jpg

"Please, heroes... if you'll just come inside for a moment... I must discuss an important matter with you. Concerning events that took place on that island yesterday... please, come inside."

The heroes follow the woman into a wooden doorway in the ally, and head to the upper level. They're in a simple stone room, with a tall window letting the morning light in.

6872489285_7fdb350e15_z.jpg

"Thank you for coming. I am Patricia Ziegfried, I'm sure you've heard of our family. We've gotten word that recently you encountered and... defeated a member of our family, Atticus. I'm sure you know all the details by now, but we would like to thank you for eliminating him and his dark ways. Members of my family locked him away long ago, but with recent family events... I'm afraid the spell must have been broken. How fortunate that capable people such as yourselves were there to stop him before he escaped!"

"Now listen, if there's anything any of you ever need, let me or one of my family members know. We'd be more than willing to lend our services to those who've helped us. Within reason, of course, heehee!".

Alf bows to Patricia Ziegfried.

"Is there anything else you would need us to do?"

Alf turns to the party.

"Do we want to go see what it was about the telescope or not?"

OoC: Once we are out of the quest, how will we be able to use the Ziegfrieds' willing to lend us services?

Posted

En Sabah Nur was taken aback by how the Ziegfried's dress hugged her curves. And that turban! Sexy! He no longer felt bad about destroying the ancient power. Perhaps he could learn from this Ziegfried instead...

Nur didn't want to ruin her first impression of him but he had to ask... "I am En Sabah Nur." He said with a bow. "There is one thing you could do for us. You could offer us a small bit of compensation for ridding the world of such a vile and dangerous threat. Perhaps in the tiny sum of 300g? Just enough for each of us to purchase a fine meal and a fresh tunic. We are but your humble servants." The mage bowed again and took a quick sniff of his armpit. It was time to bathe.

"Pleased to meet your acquaintance, Mage. Unfortunately I cannot offer any sum of gold, but I assure you my magical talents are as formidable of any of the Ziegfrieds."

Alf nudges Nur with his elbow.

"Is there anything else we could do, your worthy worship?"

Alf kneels onto the floor and takes out his amulet.

"The sun is only a candle compared to you."

Alf hands the Amulet to Patricia Ziegfried.

Atramor slowly shakes his head, eyes closed, at the party's inability to see what the Ziegfried's meaning was. He was in no real shape to say anything, so he merely gestured at the Sword of Decay in Alf's arms.

Alf unsheathes the sword of decay, and offers it to Patricia.

"Patricia, would you like to venture to Heroica hall with us?"

Just then, the Zothen flies over to Patricia. She whispers something to her, but only Patrcia can hear.

"He's a mage, but he never got the proper training. I can't train him. Could you possibly try to?"

Patricia wears a confused expression on her face, first at the sword, then at the medallion, then at the fairy hovering at her shoulder.

"I'm afraid I must attend to some family matters shortly, my dear Barbarian. Now if there's anything you need right now, please let me know. Otherwise I must be off."

She whispers to the fairy, "If Alf seeks to train in the ways of magic, Copper Fox of Heroica Hall knows much and would surely be able to help."

Alexis follows the group into the house as the woman speaks to her, she can't help but notice that Nur can't seem to take his eyes off her. She smiles to herself before addressing the woman.

"You're quite welcome, we were glad to help, that's what heroes are for." She said with a smile.
