8 Hours spread throughout some breaks in between when i built it. If breaks werent in factor, Probably close to 6.

If I remember correctly, it took my wife about a week to build the Unimog... I bought 2 Unimog sets for her because she wanted to build the Unimog with both the claw in the back and the plow in front... She spent quite a few hours the first night sorting all of the parts from one set into about 40 different groups into various containers and sorting compartments... I went in to check on her progress and noticed the dozen or so empty plastic bags and said "You know... I think these bags were numbered for a reason..."

Building a Lego Technic "flagship" like the Unimog should be savored like fine French wine -- "taste" the quality and take your time!

Amen to that! default_thumbup.gif

All this talk about building Unimogs makes my mouth water. I'm hoping for it for Christmas, so I'm trying really hard to be a good boy in order to increase my chances. My wife doesn't really understand the beauty of Lego. But she does understand me, so there's hope.

At least I migth get the small mobile crane, 8067 i think it is, which I think is a really nice model. Lots of functions for such a small model. But bigger is better...

Two more days, and then it's Christmas. I'm feeling like a five year old, and it's wonderful!

My partner bought me a mindstorms set about 4 years ago. I think she's regretting it now :classic:

I'm still working on my unimog got it today an took me 4 hours so far just to get the chassi assembled but my ADD keeps kicking in an I end up just sitting in awe of how well this thing is put together >.>

It took me several days to put mine together, but I wasn't in any rush. And naturally I just dumped all the bags into one box together, so finding bits took longer, it's the only way to build a massive Lego set!

If you have time for that. If you work everyday, or 26-27 days in a month, it's nearly impossible.

My view is if your schedule is so busy, all the more reason to shift gears and build leisurely. In my case, I get home from work and have to focus on the family. When the kids have been put to bed and we've finished house chores, I have time to unwind, smell the roses, savor the moment...

Or maybe that's how I rationalize being a damn slow builder! It took me about 7 nights to build 8110. Total time of about 10 hours I imagine.

For me, it's something around 4 hours (exactly 3 hours and 50 minutes)

I think it is absolutely impossible but even if it was it's pointless (at least in my opinion) to build it in such a short time. I spent almost 3 days building Unimog.

I don't think it's impossible. It took me 5 and a half hours including opening the box and screwing up the central differential (about half an hour extra time)

8110 was my first Lego investment after more than 30 years. It took me 14-15hrs within the next 3 days to complete. Time wasted figuring out my errors on the front chassis...

5 1/2 hours for me I think.

Also wasted 30 minutes taking the chassis apart to reverse a diff I'd put the wrong way round. That was annoying!

I received mine last week- I'm taking it down to NY next weekend to build with my brother. We'll have multiple timing mechanisms, multiple cameras (including infrared), kinematic measurement devices to track arm movements and pin-connection strength, telemetric systems to track bathroom and food breaks, metabolic and heartrate loggers to keep track of our exertion levels, and electroencephalograph devices to track our brain function. It will all be live-tweeted.

That would make a great garduation or such report for a diploma, or investigation of building lego on health effect.

Had it built in time for Christmas dinner, don't know how long it was exactly. There is alot to be said for taking your time and enjoying the build, but when you're excited and feel like a kid again it's hard to take your time.

@colinrichardson that will be most interesting. Please let us know.

Btw. it took me something around 8 hours. Not a lot sorting was done. I mostly kept the bags separated though. The time was spread over 3 days in the evening after work. And taking my time gave me the advantage of not having to re-build because of a wrong placed diff.

Hi people. Sorry to be slightly off-topic but I am building the Unimog as I type. Ive run into an issue with the front suspension...

When I apply the small arm on step 95 it makes the front suspension move to the right so it does not stay straight in a rested position. Any ideas where I have gone wrong?

Thanks

Paul
