Welcome to my first review of the only Batman set that isn't a remake. Does that make it good? Let's find out!

Number-6857

Name-The Dynamic Duo Funhouse Escape

Theme-LEGO DC Universe Superheroes

Year-Late 2011/Early 2012

Minifigs-5

Pieces-380

Price-$39.99 USD

Part 1: The Box:

dscf0788.jpg

Nice comic book style box, just like the other sets.

dscf0789.jpg

The back of the box shows all of the features but I wish it still showed alternate models.

Part 2: The books:

Instuction Manual:

dscf0802.jpg

There is only one book and has the same cover as the box.

dscf0810.jpg

Random Instruction Page.

dscf0803.jpg

The cover of the included comic book. It features an epic battle with the throwing of baterangs and Robin being an idiot.

Part 3: The minifigs

Batman:

dscf0821.jpgdscf0822.jpgdscf0823.jpgdscf0824.jpg

Classic blue Batman, this is probably one of my new favorite figures!

Robin:

dscf0825.jpgdscf0827.jpgdscf0828.jpg

Robin is also a very good figure and I love his "Holy cow Batman" face!

The Joker:

dscf0829.jpgdscf0830.jpgdscf0832.jpg

They did a great job with this Joker but I'm still partial to the old one that came with my ice cream truck and Tumbler.

Harley Quinn:

dscf0833.jpgdscf0834.jpgdscf0835.jpg

Harley Quinn is just perfect. Even better than the original!

The Riddler:

dscf0836.jpg

The riddler is also perfect just like Harley Quinn! Sorry I forgot to take picture of his back.

Part 4: The Batcycle:

dscf0839.jpg

dscf0842.jpg

dscf0843.jpg

The batcycle is actually a lot better than I thought and it looks like a combination between the batcycle and batpod from TDK.

Part 5: The funhouse of features!

dscf0844.jpg

The whole funhouse! Isn't it blurry  (sorry).

dscf0845.jpg

The fortune teller Riddler! I was really surprised how they were both the same head.

dscf0846.jpg

Oh no Joker's captured Robin and is hanging him over a barrel of acid that is barely a quarter full! What will Batman do?!?!

dscf0847.jpg

dscf0851.jpg

That's how! He uses the force, I mean a baterang to knock him over.

dscf0855.jpg

dscf0857.jpg

It seems that the Riddler can't read his own warning.

dscf0859.jpgdscf0860.jpg

Same with Harley Quinn  . Wait...

dscf0861.jpgdscf0862.jpgdscf0863.jpgdscf0864.jpgdscf0865.jpg

At least she had a fun ride before she got arrested!

Part 6: Conclusion!

dscf0866.jpg

Design-9/10: I love the design of this set because of how similar it is to the level in Arkham City, but I can see hy people wouldn't like it. Although to me it is the perfect funhouse!

Price-10/10: At $39.99 USD you're getting a bargain!

Parts-10/10: This has a lot of good parts but I'm not one who could tell if a part is rare or not (other than the purple barrel of course  ).

Minifigures-10/10: These figures are perfect for any bat-fan!

Build-10/10: The build was very enjoyable and I had a ton of fun playing with it while building

Playability-10/10: There is so much fun and playability with this set it's ridiculous!

Final Verdict-98/100 I urge all of you to go out and buy this set while it's still there. This is really the perfect Batman set currently and I don't forsee any better ones in the near future. All I can do now is to build the Steel Mill around it.

Can't you just edit your pics into the first post? And what do you mean it closes the page?

By the way, your pictures are all very tiny and either have a big flash or shadow covering up part of the image. :sceptic:

Mine came in today and I wanted to do one of these. :cry_sad: But okay, this looks interesting.

Nothing says that you can't still do it.

Can't wait 'til the rest of the parts come out! :classic:

I'm pretty sure I'm gonna get this set for Christmas. If there isn't much reviews by then, I'll put up a review.

I've finished the review hope everyone likes it! Here is the link to the Brickshelf gallery with more pics

Thank you for the review!

It seems like a nice set to get the Riddler and Robin. :classic:

You should get the set for the whole package, and the other figs are good too, like Batman and Harley Quinn!

What you have here isn't bad for a preview, but the pictures are quite bad for a review.

I would study the Reviewer's Academy reviews if you want to get better at this. Lots of room to improve on things like, photos (clear, large, appropriate brightness, appropriate backdrops, etc), taking a critical look at what could be improved (not just wow, 100% awesome, buy this, etc), rare / uncommon parts, in-build progress shots, manual issues, if any, documentation of all aspects of the set (What's going on in the lower right? I don't think you've shown us), an more.

Well, thank you for bringing us this review. :classic:

However I suppese better pictures would have been better. Do you think you can edit those or rather take new ones?

Good day, ladies and gentlemen! ) :classic:

Riddle me this: When is a review not a review?

Answer: When you can't "view" anything because of the blurriness of the pictures. Nah, just kidding. It's not a bad review, it just needs some work. I too encourage you to join the Reviewers Academy to learn how to make better reviews! :classic:

Oh, and thanks for making the rest of the pics larger than the first.

The fortune teller Riddler! I was really surprised how they were both the same head.

Really? I would have been surprised if they weren't. If there's a lazy way to do things, TLG will usually take it, and that includes putting the same head twice into a set.

Oh no Joker's captured Robin and is hanging him over a barrel of acid that is barely a quarter full! What will Batman do?!?!

:head_back: Yeah, that doesn't seem very threatening, does it? Well, at least it will ruin Robin's carefully combed hair, so that's still pretty evil.

Wow guys. He took the time to put together a full review for our viewing enjoyment... is that not enough? Not everyone is a master photographer, he's just telling us what he thinks about the set.

For my part, I like this set. The minifigures are obviously the biggest selling point here, but the funhouse itself isn't too shabby (if a little bare-bones). I don't know if I'll be picking it up, but we'll see. Thanks for the review!

Thanks for the review, even with fuzzy pictures....at least you did your best, good on you 'halomaster96'. :sweet:

Okay, some thing odd....it's not in the Australian catalogue....why ? :look:

Is it an exclusive set or do we in the great land of oz must wait for this AWESOME set.....my son already wants me to order one.

(okay, so do I  )

I appreciate the early review on a new set, but these pictures make the review pretty hard to read, almost everyone is blurry. I'd suggest investing in a tripod. Also how do you get 98/100 when you only have 6 categories of 10 each?

The fig's do look awesome, it's great to see all the new specialty fig's LEGO is getting to make.

Your welcome, I'll try to take better pictures of some of the more blurry ones so it can be more clear. :classic:

Well in the pictures on the box and on the internet it looked closer to the older one and not exactly the same.

Maybe Joker expects the fish to eat him.

I'm not sure if it is exclusive as it doesn't say so on the box. I found this at my local Lego store and I live in America.

I might but I don't have a workstation, I usually take pictures on the floor so I don't know if that will help.

It got a 98/100 because I used math to bring 59/60 to a normal score out of 100.

Thanks for the review, it's not much, but it's something. Good to know that it is actually a good set (in your opinion at least) because I hate to make an uninformed purchase (and it doesn't usually work out to well for me). I didn't really see anything new, except for the Riddler machine close-up, but that's fine. :classic:

Thanks for that review,

The set doesnt look too bad, I certainly love those minifigures!

Looks quite nice, the features are nifty, even if joker's is a bit silly

Might get this set, will be one of the lst that I do however, as I'm not a huge fan of the funhouse itself.

It just feels lacking to me, may change once I get it in hand however

At least she had a fun ride before she got arrested!

Post in this topic saying you want in and an admin will give you access. They have a lot of great tips and tricks for making excellent reviews and many teachers for personal advice and help.

I might but I don't have a workstation, I usually take pictures on the floor so I don't know if that will help.

Even setting the camera on some books and using the camera's timer would help. It's weird that with so much technology out there that even the small amount of shaking that can come from pushing the button to take a picture can ruin a close up picture.

I'm sure with a little more practice and the practical advice and tutorials in the academy, you'll improve in no time. Just keep trying. (And when you do get better, you can replace the pics here. )

Thank you, I found it and hopefully next time when I update it or do another review people will just enjoy the review and forget I'm a bad photographer.

i was already sold on this set when the preliminary pics were released, this only further confirms that for me, cheers

This only confirms my decision to buy this. I love that they put the fortune teller booth in. I like The Riddler, but why no cane, LEGO? :sceptic:

He's got a crowbar. Maybe LEGO thinks that's close enough?

I agree better pictures would make it easier to follow along. The reviewers academy seems to do wonders for everyone that joins. I purchased this set the moment we were able to and have had it for almost a week now. It really is a brilliant set. I didn't have any of the previous series, so this may be the only set I get this year since it has everything you need.

Good luck on the next review.
