Siegfried Posted December 24, 2011 Posted December 24, 2011 Recently there have been some issues with new joiners for the sole purpose of selling on EB resulting in excessive bumping, inappropriate topics... even a case of a regular member creating a duplicate account with the intention of a quick buck. Issues like this are a burden on staff members time so to reduce problems Vassels can no longer create topics here. They can however post here, and if you are someone who is selling something special (such as exclusive custom parts) we will consider making an exception. Just PM an admin and ask. This isn't something I wanted to do as I realise it will annoy some members, but as we've said for sometime; This is a small part of the site and isn't intended to be your reason for joining or the only place where you are active. (Existing topics will be allowed to stay open on a case-by-case basis.)

This change should reduce the quantity of folks joining just to sell stuff, never a bad thing. Should I assume that the sticky(and locked) Guidlines for B/S/T/F Forum post will be updated at some future point in time? You might get some confused folks if the topic creation requirement is left out of said post.

Nightshroud99 Posted December 25, 2011 Posted December 25, 2011 Smart move here This may also reduce the risk of someone being scammed.

The edit shows now, it didn't show to me when I posted, but I have a habit of having many open tabs and perhaps had opened the Guidlines post before the edit showed up, it's all good now.

I'm much the same. I've got at least 20 open on this computer, and probably twice as much on my other.

Citizenship comes with the requirement of one hundred posts. The Vassal rank requires ten posts, and it's also the rank at which you can start sending PMs, which is a requirement for any sort of trading.
S.I Posted January 15, 2012 Posted January 15, 2012 (edited) Welcome to EB! You can read all about ranks here. Citizenship comes with the requirement of one hundred posts. The Vassal rank requires ten posts, and it's also the rank at which you can start sending PMs, which is a requirement for any sort of trading. Still says vassal in that link. After 10+ posts you're no longer a newb, now you're a newbie. Actually most of our active members are Vassals, so it's nothing to be ashamed of. Max. total upload file space: 100 KB Max. number of stored PMs: 50 At this rank, members are allowed to start new topics in the Buy, Sell, Trade & Find Forum and send PMs. Guess if I ever want to make a topic I need to spam more and lurk less :P Edited January 15, 2012 by S.I
Lance Posted January 15, 2012 Posted January 15, 2012 Well I suppose it's for the best. Many Vassals have been using EB to their advantage to make money and trade (not me, I use EB to disscus Lego with other members, and very rarely trade). But still it was a very good decision
