I don't know but we had a rich man come into our store and offer $30,000 for Jango. We could not sell it to him but we gave him the number for corp. The man tried for a month to get corp. to let him buy it but they turned him down. They told him that although Jango is worth about $30,000, they do not sell the store sculptures to consumers. He then came back to the store and asked us if we could build him one if he bought all the bricks he needed from Shop @ Home. I really don't understand why Lego would not sell it to him. They have sold big sculptures to consumers before through Ebay auctions. *wacko* ;)

BTW...

More pics are coming soon. I'm taking more today.

Here are some more pics These were shot tonight in the dark. I will try to take some more in the morning. Most of the electrical work is now done and the walls are going up. The first two pics (the round room pics 41 & 42) are shots of our new Pick-A-Brick room. This entire room will all be a huge wall of PAB. You will also see our new flooring being put into place. ;)

Oh, now we've got to wait for the gallery to be public |-/

Jon.

Wow. That was a long time between posts. Is it public yet? I'm not sure because I could still see it fine after I logged out. ;)

Well, it is public now but it wasn't when I checked earlier today.

It looks like it is coming on well Orlwgo, I can't wait to see what your store looks like when it is finished!

Hey, maybe I'll come down when it's finished and meet the great and mighty Orlego! :P

Lol, that would be cool. ;)

BTW... I love your new title Jay, very fitting! :P ;)

Jipay, maybe your title should be "Title master" ;)

More pics are now online. I just don't know when it will become public. These were all shot today in the daylight so you can see more detail. The floor is looking great. It is Yellow, Light and dark grey. Pic 59 shows the new yellow floor and pic 56 is a great shot of the light and dark grey. Pic 60 (the last pic) is where the Lego dino family once was. This area is scheduled to have shark and a family of crabs made of Lego. Pic 58 is going to be the new outdoor play area with a large brick that will extend out from inside the store to cover the play area. Pic 55 shows the area where the registers will be located (where the guy is standing). Have fun! :-D ;)

Will the store be bigger than before ?

Well... They did not add on to the store but it will have more retail space because they removed all of the windows and closed off one entrance to make a new room.

The ILTCO is looking for me...

>  Did you guys see this on Brickshelf...

http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=112121

>  Robin Werner

Saw this first when you posted.  But best guess would

be orlego is a store employee OR one of theconstruction

guys.

K.K. Quah

>I'd bet that it is an employee - some of the staff have been impressed

>with us may have gone to lugnet, brickshelf, etc and used the services

>there.

>i wonder if the store managers know this is happening?  i dont want to

>get anyone in trouble, but they might not want these sort of photos

>spread out before the store is finished.

>'orlego' probably means "orlando lego"

Why can't people just shut the hell up and enjoy what they see? The bad thing is I know these guys. They are all from GFLug (Greater Florida Lego Users group). They all act like they are the gods of Lego. Sorry to fire off but these guys really piss me off.

Hey guys....new here, have been lurking here ...and well...other LEGO sites for years. :)

Anyways, I just really want to fill the board with LEGO employees. :) I too, work for LEGO Brand Retail. except I am privleged enough to be a trainer for the company, work at the LEGO Imagination Center at the Mall of America...and starting in a few monthes an intern at LSI. Neat...huh? I was wondering how the construction was going....looks...well, for the most part good. I can't really tell. I'm worried about remodels of our stores OrLego...Orlando and us were far different looking stores then the other stores and I always felt we were specil with our many models and out spectaculiar displays. I don't want to be just another outta the box 'yellow store'. I've liked spending parts of the last six years of my life looking at our old, but great displays. Anyways...sorry...a bit of a ramble.

Also, I'm pretty sure you guys are still an "Imagination Center". I'd be curious to know what you heard. We still are. How is the tent sale going? Are sales down a lot because of it? Geez...this will be a long first post!

I wish sometimes we were on Disney property too. Then we would at least be forced to do SOME remodeling. We still have the same terrible carpet as we did in 1992 when we opened. Our extremely high hanging models need more then my monthly, dangerous cleaning! Oh well. All is good.

Let me know how the remodel keeps progressing. Oh...and tell Eric Brewer I say hello. All you need is Brett from LEGO. He'll know. :)

Thanks for the post Brett. Welcome to Eurobricks!

I was wondering how the construction was going....looks...well, for the most part good. I can't really tell. I'm worried about remodels of our stores

Construction seems to be going good. The store is going to look great when it is done, esp. the floor. Our store always looked so dirty before the remodel because the floor was horrible.

Orlando and us were far different looking stores then the other stores and I always felt we were special with our many models and out spectacular displays. I don't want to be just another outta the box 'yellow store'. I've liked spending parts of the last six years of my life looking at our old, but great displays.

The new store will be a mix of the old "Imagination Center" style stores with the new modern looking stores. We will still have the big models inside and a play area with large models outside. The store itself will be designed with the typical Lego Store yellow modern look but it will also feature a large brick that extends from inside the center of the store to the outside play area.

Also, I'm pretty sure you guys are still an "Imagination Center". I'd be curious to know what you heard. We still are.

We have been told that Lego is no longer going to use the "Imagination Center" name. My store is not scheduled to have this name attached to it anymore. If your store gets remodeled the name will likely disappear as well.

How is the tent sale going? Are sales down a lot because of it?

Well I don't want to say too much about sales because I feel I should not talk about these issues on the Internet. I will say that anytime a store goes from 5,000sf to a 1,200sf tent selling only about 30% of the items you had in the larger store, sales will suffer. Thankfully it is just temporary and the store should recover most of the money when it re-opens.

I wish sometimes we were on Disney property too.

Well it has its good and bad moments. We are also the only store in Downtown Disney that has the remodeling clause in our contract. McDonalds (right next door to us) has never been remodeled and it has been there as long (if not longer) than us.

Let me know how the remodel keeps progressing.

No problem Brett. I will post updates here.

Oh...and tell Eric Brewer I say hello. All you need is Brett from LEGO. He'll know. :)

Hahaha, it is funny to hear that name on this forum. Have you ever worked with Brewer or did he do his training at your store. Just wondering.

Well it's funny to see so many people working from lego here :-D I like the way how you guys come on forums to discuss about your own company ! So funny *satis*

Well, they're real people too, you know. ;)

It is cool to see so many people from LEGO, though. I remember when I used to live back in MN, I used to go to the LIC every week, just looking at the displays and browsing for new sets. Now I'm stuck in the hellhole that is NC...

Hm, anybody out there who wants a "Lego employee forum"? :D

Sure Apo! That would be great! :P ;)

I'm just so impressed bu the fact that lego is keeping everything under secret. It's sooooo megablock. As studying business I know for a fact that all the Xmas material are starting to be produced now. So it means all the sets, including some vikking guys are akreay made (since they come before Xmas). So why keeping everything secret like this ?

Same, we are happy to know about sets, but the designer already know hat they will do in 2006 so who really cares again ?

Posted

The movie industry also does this with movies. The movie ELF was sitting in warehouses for months until November 04. They wanted to wait until the Christmas began to get a jump on the Christmas shopping. |-/ ;)

Vikings are coming around August though, aren't they? I don't mind if they keep them in warehouses until then - my birthday :-D. I don't think the delaying hurts them at all, it's necessary to get them more money, which keeps them alive. And that's always good.

wow, they are good at keeping secrets, now if only they could get better at communication! ;) anyways, a couple weeks a go i was reading the designer bio's in the lego factory website, and was reading this one lady's, and she said that her favorite theam was in 2006, and could not tell what it is. more broof they no a whole year or more before its released.

It also means that vikings are already produced while we have to deal with bad pics :)
