ApophisV Posted January 12, 2005 Posted January 12, 2005 Hi all, as far as I remember it was said by someone that TLC decided to replace all the chromes and metallic colors with those new three chrome tones... If this is really true, I am even more upset about this decision than about all other bley / skin tone changes..... *devil* Yesterday I bought the last of the four small racers and it comes with two "chrome" handles (the ones that are included with the speederbikes and such things) The color isn't any chrome, its looking like simple silver spray paint.... Very bad.... :'( Has anybody confimred informations about this? Will we REALLY see only dull metallic colors from now on?!? No more shiny lightsaber hilts? No more gold coins????
Athos Posted January 12, 2005 Posted January 12, 2005 The lack of gold coins would be bad. I'm not so much concerned about the lightsaber handles and I have so many of those. Sounds like something Lego would do though, doesn't it? Steve
Orlego Posted January 12, 2005 Posted January 12, 2005 That is the word Apo, we even had an article in Lego Life (employee mag) that confirmed this change. It is very sad to hear Lego make this change. It is a good thing I got a copy of the UCS Naboo Fighter before they used spray paint.

But there comes to my mind: There were two normal chrome 1x2 grilles included with one of the racers (the black one).... Wierd.....

Orlego Posted January 13, 2005 Posted January 13, 2005 From what I understand, it is set in stone. Just like the color changes they will keep the old colors for Legend sets while all new sets will be the new colors/chrome.

Orlego Posted January 13, 2005 Posted January 13, 2005 From what I understand from the Lego Life mag is that they are going to can the regular true high gloss chrome colors with the spray paint style chrome. I may be wrong, but this is what it seemed like to me.

Lets just hope that it is not old stock that they are trying to clear out of the warehouse. The new silver paint is ok but it is silver paint, not chrome. Lego needs to keep the true chrome colors.
