JopieK Posted September 24, 2012 Posted September 24, 2012 Hi Patrick, good job! Looks very nice! B.t.w. shouldn't you consider 3D printing for those triangular signals? Are you also coming to LEGOWorld 2012??! Quote

patje Posted December 17, 2012 Author Posted December 17, 2012 Finally my sand tower for steam locomotives is of this weekend a nice addition to the layout the wheels of the steam trains will no longer skidding ... based on: http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/Monteur/TrainBuilding/Besandungsanlage/024_vorlage.jpg http://frank103.blogspot.be/2010/12/de-zandtoren.html http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3591/3378763587_99029838a7_z.jpg more: http://legotreinforum.forum2go.nl/verandering-van-eigen-layout-change-layout-t2888-90.html Quote
patje Posted December 23, 2012 Author Posted December 23, 2012 (edited) small but not insignificant update when there are tunnels ... Then the people must use a type size to loading and unloading matriaal .. For the locomotives and wagons that drive through the tunnel therefor stands along freight stations a kind of metal fence (belgium) where the trains drives under to see if they pass through the tunnel not much farther away ... stands in treigne mariam-bourg belgium (steam train museum) abandoned ... sidetrack is no longer used more on: http://legotreinforum.forum2go.nl/verandering-van-eigen-layout-change-layout-t2888-90.html Edited December 23, 2012 by patje Quote
graafderk Posted December 26, 2012 Posted December 26, 2012 Hi Patrick. I've been reading your posts on the electronic part with a lot of interest as I'm in the process of making a similar setup (although not with such a big layout as you have due to a lack of space). Could you tell us (me?) some more about the electronics? What are these cards you're using and how do they work? From reading your posts I assume you detect the resistive load of the 9v train motors on your track. How do you send this data to your computer and how do you send data back to your signals? i.e. what kind of protocol do you use, etc. Anyway, I'll keep on following this topic as it seems you are making yourself a very interesting layout! Veel plezier met bouwen ;) Quote

Veel plezier met bouwen ;) It is a completely own design a friend of mine designed the electronic cards We are currently in a phase that everything is detected from tracks forwarded by dectieplates unter the layout to-PC and PC to signals theory it works practically there is still a thing to be resolved The signals lose their addresses and fall out. We're working on it. Once everything goes perfectly I will certainly return on this with film and pictures and explanations on the cards Thanks for your interest in this project We are back a lot further in building the new layout Steam trains have already water and sand but the coal was missing, The coal crane is finally placed and loading can begin ... The crane is based on a real working crane in treigne mariam bourg (steam train museum belgium) the 2 last pictures are night pictures more on: http://www.brickshel...ry.cgi?f=519260 and: http://legotreinforu...t-t2888-90.html Edited December 31, 2012 by patje Quote

Sven (Captain K) I second that, when I filially get a fixed layout this is what i am aiming for, lots of little details that make the whole look so good, nice work Quote
patje Posted January 6, 2013 Author Posted January 6, 2013 (edited) thanks and kieran and Captain K it took some time but the update is here after much searching and not really find something on the internet I made something myself and own diesel station more: http://legotreinforu...7357.html#17357 and: http://www.brickshel...ry.cgi?f=519260 Edited January 6, 2013 by patje Quote
Spitfire2865 Posted January 7, 2013 Posted January 7, 2013 This layout is so...Busy. Its hard for me to focus on one thing. SO many beautiful details. Quote
patje Posted May 12, 2013 Author Posted May 12, 2013 (edited) The last few days I'm back to building on the layout ... Build a big word ... I, begun with on the station to work between the tracks .. The first section describes the paths, in dark tan after the paths its go to lime green (short grass) And then green short grass (middle grass=green tiles) and long grass ( long grass= green plates) so you get a nice effect .... after all tracks are finished with short vegetation, come the middle tall plants , The whole layout is then filled with middle tall plants .. still follow at a later date than the large vegetation, large trees ware planted on the layout. more on:http://legotreinforu...-t2888-135.html and:http://www.brickshel...ry.cgi?f=519260 Edited May 12, 2013 by patje Quote
Spitfire2865 Posted May 12, 2013 Posted May 12, 2013 Maybe you could put some sort of gray sheet underneath to represent ballast where the white table is exposed? Would probably look better than white table top. Quote
patje Posted May 12, 2013 Author Posted May 12, 2013 (edited) right but the ballast comes later the way I did before ... but everything must be finished between the tracks before ... Edited May 12, 2013 by patje Quote
Spitfire2865 Posted May 13, 2013 Posted May 13, 2013 Oh wow, interesting to use actual ballast. Easier to get in the corners I guess. Quote
LEGO Guy Bri Posted May 13, 2013 Posted May 13, 2013 The finished parts look amazing! Very realistic, I can't wait to see the finished layout Quote
patje Posted May 13, 2013 Author Posted May 13, 2013 (edited) Oh wow, interesting to use actual ballast. Easier to get in the corners I guess. indeed but it also has to do with the cost in such a large layout is impossible, at least for me, to use as ballast plates 1x1 too expensive ..... The finished parts look amazing! Very realistic, I can't wait to see the finished layout thanks for the comment and interestit will take a while to get everything ready Edited May 13, 2013 by patje Quote
