Hello everybody and a happy new year! :classic:

I bought 4441 yesterday and so I decided to do my first review. Here it is:

4441 Forest Police Dog Unit

Firstly the box:

4441.2.jpg

4441.3.jpg

The three polybags, the sticker sheet and the two building instructions:

4441.4.jpg

Bag one is for building firstly the cabriolet and then the small gold mine.

Bag two and bag three are for building the police van.

There are two completely new molds in this set:

a smaller car wing

4441.5.jpg

and a new piece for trees to hold four knobs (of which you can find a picture in the review of the fire truck someone posted here)

The criminal and the forest police officer:

The two dogs:

4441.12.jpg

The gold mine with beehive and two gold barrels:

4441.7.jpg

4441.8.jpg

4441.9.jpg

The dark-red and black cabriolet:

4441.13.jpg

4441.14.jpg

4441.15.jpg

The forest police dog van:

4441.16.jpg

4441.17.jpg

4441.18.jpg

4441.19.jpg

The dogs inside the van:

4441.20.jpg

The criminal in the little "cell" in the back of the van:

4441.21.jpg

All in all I give this set an

above average

because of following reasons:

Con:

-no car doors for the cabriolet

-a poacher or at least a criminal in civilian outfit would have been much better

-with its 30 Euros imo 5 Euros too expensive

-no new dogs

Pro:

-amazing looking and very detailed forest police dog van

-beehive is a neet detail

-great design of the cabriolet (apart from the missing car doors)

-with the new forest police theme TLG gives us some police sets which are much more interesting than always only the regular urban police sets

I really like this set and don't regret to have bought it.

What do you think?

I hope that this review was useful and helped you.

Greetings

Klaus-Dieter

Happy new year to you 'K-D', and thanks for a great review of this city set. :sweet:

It's the car that makes the set worth it, though the police truck is doing a dual role....dam, it Lego stop twisting my %$#$%$$ arm....I'll buy it....on the shopping list !

Excellent play set, a hotted up car, a hiding spot and cop who likes his job and never smiles !

Are you going to review anything else 'Klaus' ?

Anyway, Brick On Review On ! :classic:

Are you going to review anything else 'Klaus' ?

Some minutes ago 4205 (forest police mobile command center) arrived via DHL and yesterday I even bought 4206 (recycling truck). I plan to do reviews on both sets in the next days.

I'm not into city, but this looks like a neat set.

The beehive is clever and useful in any theme (other than space really).

I have only recently received my first dog, so this set having two is great! But sure, new dog colors or molds would be neat as well.

The sports car looks fast, but will it survive the rough terrain in the forest? Only time will tell...

Thanks for the great review. I can't wait to read more.

Those half mudguards look very useful for vintage car MOCs, especially for the rear since they tend to curve upwards at about mid-wheel.

This set is pretty cool, those are some nice vehicle designs

Also, haha, space bees!

Thanks for the review.

Another nice 2012 Police set. I have the feeling all my feelings about the new Police line last year were wrong. The only flaw I see is the lack of doors in the car, but the rest looks just great. The beehive was just a nice touch!

Good review! It's kinda cheap of Lego to have the same exact dogs...I mean, even a plain red-brown one would be better.

I kind of disagree. These particular dogs seem designed to resemble German Shepherds, which are a very typical breed of police dog. So I think it makes sense to continue using these dogs for a police set, and is not "cheap" at all.

If TLG were to introduce a new dog for anything, I'd like to see a new dog mold around the same size but with floppier ears. It could be printed as a Dalmatian for Fire sets, or in different colors as any number of different breeds. But apparently, according to Wikipedia, Dalmatians don't have the same reputation as firefighting dogs in other countries as they have in the United States, which might explain why we've never seen one in a LEGO set.
