Jipay Posted January 12, 2005 Posted January 12, 2005 I tend to like the bionicle beast. It reminds me some anime/japanese stuff. I think it could be the collection that will bring back childs who are loving bionicles into real lego Quote
The Middleman Posted January 12, 2005 Posted January 12, 2005 A bit more <insert that tiresome argument> than I would have liked, but still... VIKINGS! :D Quote
Peoples_General Posted January 12, 2005 Posted January 12, 2005 I like all the sets. I think the Bionicle Fafner oughta have been bricks instead. As for the beards, me thinks they're like the capes. I think its made of a cloth neckpiece connector to attach to the minifig and the rest is some fuzzy fiber. But at least these beards look realistic and you can put them over armor pieces. Quote
Orlego Posted January 12, 2005 Posted January 12, 2005 I tend to like the bionicle beast. It reminds me some anime/japanese stuff. I think it could be the collection that will bring back childs who are loving bionicles into real lego For Lego's sake, I hope the kids love these sets. The reason I don't really care for the Bionicle line (other than they don't seem like Lego to me) is they don't really promote creativity. Kids just buy them to collect and build the one character on the front of the box. You should hear how many people come into our store with kids that primarily collect Bionicle sets and ask us what can kids do with the buckets and Pick-A Brick items. When you tell them they can build anything they can imagine, the kids and parents ask "what do you mean". Hopefully the Viking sets will show kids they can think outside the box and use a little creativity. Quote
jindroush Posted January 12, 2005 Posted January 12, 2005 And, you know what I, say, 'think'? ;) These are again the prototype photos. See the name and the photo for 7019. My 'feelings' are that the name is okay. Quote
DoubleT Posted January 12, 2005 Posted January 12, 2005 Somehow I trust your "felings" :| :oD |-D Quote
Darkkazmo Posted January 12, 2005 Posted January 12, 2005 This so exciting, but man.. I don't like all those Bionicle pieces. |-/ But those sets will be a nice addition to my LEGO collection, I can use many of those pieces in my new fantasy project. :^D Quote
ApophisV Posted January 12, 2005 Posted January 12, 2005 Dudes.... 6 hours out for cinema.... And then this.... Wow..... My 2 cents: - Figures: WOW WOW WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :oD :oD :oD - Accessories: *wub* As I said before: We sure will get some new weapons and armors.... And voila - new (two colored!) helmets, new axes, new shields!!! :D :D - Buidlings and other structures: Really really okay! - Bionicle influences: Hm.... |-/ I don't like it, but shouldn't be a big problem, for example all those grey parts at the castle can easily be removed... ;) (Hey and BROWN Battle Droid arms.... *G*) Quote
ApophisV Posted January 12, 2005 Posted January 12, 2005 my new fantasy project. :^D Huh? YOU are doing non-Sci-Fi things??? Tell me!!!! Tell me!!!! :oo :) Quote
Athos Posted January 12, 2005 Posted January 12, 2005 I saw these at work. Had to wait until I got home to post. I think they do deserve the copious use of !!!s. Though I'm not real fond of the monsters so I might have to take back one or two of the !!!s... Anyhow my thoughts: I am so very excited about these! Haven't been this excited about a Lego line, since I saw the Fright Knights sets on a store shelf. Only thing I don't like, like everyone else, is the bionicle monsters. Does anyone know when we'll be seeing these in the stores? My observations about the sets: v. Wolf set: -Nice way to get a fully equiped viking cheap. -Not real keen on the wolf v. Kraken set: -Looks like one of the better ones -Two vikings, three helmets -Nice larger boat -Green snake -Kraken is a decent monster v. Midgard Serpent -Love the long boat -Possibly the best of the line -Snake is ok. Better than some of the others -Tons of shields -Several vikings v. Fafner -Kind of an odd set up for the fortress, is it supposed to be a harbor? -Lots of shields again -Several vikings (including a maiden, perhaps? Or is it just Thor of the Chapped Lips?) -Some euro-armor (on the guy in the left tower) -Light grey spears -What the heck is with that monster? Is Fafner Norse for a bunch of left over megablock thrown together? (Looks like no dragon I've ever seen) -Blechy bionicle accents v. the Nidhogg -Looks ok -Can't see the catapult very well -Don't like the dragon much at all -He must be very good with that catapult if he's going to bring down a dragon with it In general: -Whoo-hoo! -Love the beards -Weapons, could be good. Might be too big. Will have to wait and see -This is a biggie here: the figures look to be generic. None of this same 5 characters in every set nonsense. -Don't like how the monsters are done, but what can you do? All in all: my wallet is going to be hurting Steve Quote

Vader Posted January 13, 2005 Posted January 13, 2005 Its going to be really hard to decide on what sets to get this year and which ones to leave, afterall lego is an expensive hobby :) Quote
The Middleman Posted January 13, 2005 Posted January 13, 2005 If anything from the Viking line has to go, it's gonna be that piece of carp Dragon. (I hate carp ;)) Quote
Endigo Vandane Posted January 13, 2005 Posted January 13, 2005 -Don't like how the monsters are done, but what can you do? Pretend you're the missionary from "Eric the Viking", that way you won't see them. ;) Quote

Darkkazmo Posted January 13, 2005 Posted January 13, 2005 my new fantasy project. :^D Huh? YOU are doing non-Sci-Fi things??? Tell me!!!! Tell me!!!! :oo :) Apo. I'm a Sci-Fi freak (sorry I can't help it :P ) after all, which means it will be a mixture of medieval and hightech robotics all over the place. It will be unique and challenging build. Right now I'm in the process of collecting the pieces for the first launching models.. And of course it will be in Darkkazmo's style. :^D And there will another new Star Wars project as well. ;) Thanks a lot for your anticipation dude. :-D Quote
