gotoAndLego Posted January 9, 2012 Posted January 9, 2012 Thanks for the review. I was seriously considering this set as I am fan of row buildings. But I'm a beginner; is this a good place to start? This is also a good introduction to building on a micro scale. If you enjoy it then it doesn't take a lot of bricks to make additions to this mini street; you could always buy a second set and use the parts from that to add several of your own designs to the block.. Andy D Posted January 9, 2012 Posted January 9, 2012 I just got this set yesterday. I was considering passing on it, but when I saw it, well, I caved and bought it. I built the CC today. Not a difficult build, but still fun. I also believe this is a good introduction to micro scale building and I plan to do more in this scale. Considering getting a second set for parts, but I don't know if I could break it up for parts Andy D Quote
Brickmamba Posted January 10, 2012 Posted January 10, 2012 Thanks for the review op, nice set for display but quite pricey for what is a 'mini' version Quote
Sid Sidious Posted January 10, 2012 Posted January 10, 2012 So since each model comes in its own bag, shouldn't it be possible to bag build this set? That seems like the kind of thing that would take mad crazy amounts of patience, but would be really cool at the end. Quote

I think it just depends on the size of the bags vs the size of the finished models. Quote
tafkatb Posted January 10, 2012 Posted January 10, 2012 In theory, yes! I think it just depends on the size of the bags vs the size of the finished models. I think they should all just about fit in the bags when completed, though the larger ones would be pushing it. Certainly Market Street and Green Grocer could fit. ...Now I'm starting to wish I had attempted to do this from the beginning. Or that the LEGO Store gave them out free to anyone who could bag-build them, like those food challenges where your meal is free if you finish it in 30 minutes. Quote
TomRoid Posted January 25, 2012 Posted January 25, 2012 Seriously, I'm planning to add these to my regular-sized LEGO town despite the smaller scale. It's cheaper. Quote
Mrcool1804 Posted January 25, 2012 Posted January 25, 2012 Has anyone seen a mini pet shop MOC? I haven't seen anything. Quote
Big Cam Posted January 26, 2012 Posted January 26, 2012 I just got an email that this is available in the US for LEGO VIP members only, the only reason I'm posting is because it's only $79.99, which has me excited enough to buy. I wonder why they reviewer had to pay $99.99? Quote
Dervish Posted January 26, 2012 Posted January 26, 2012 (edited) Avaible in Finland too.. My visa just cooled down from getting the hippie van (10220), and now this.. uh oh.. EDIT: Oh yeah, the price.. 84,95 eur, roughly 102 USD incl. tax. Edited January 26, 2012 by Dervish Quote
Darkdragon Posted January 26, 2012 Posted January 26, 2012 Yeah $79.99 in USA. Also an FYI that i did look up the parts value for the set on Bricklink and it came out over $175 of last-six-months sold average. Quote

Esurient Posted January 26, 2012 Posted January 26, 2012 Has anyone seen a mini pet shop MOC? I haven't seen anything. I have a cheeky suspicion that TLG is going to release another one or two big modular sets before releasing the second series of mini modulars. Quote

zrgrvsh Posted January 31, 2012 Posted January 31, 2012 I must say that i really like this set. Its awesome fun to build, something completely different. And they look great next to their big brothers, i would definitely recommend this :) Quote

Vindicare Posted January 31, 2012 Posted January 31, 2012 Would YOU find it weird if I used these in my town near regular sized buildings? It's cheaper... I think that would be extremely strange. It just won't look right. Imagine people walking by the buildings that are as tall as they are. I wouldn't put these in a regular sized town. Now, if you did a town to the scale of the minis, THAT would be cool. Quote
Darkdragon Posted January 31, 2012 Posted January 31, 2012 Yeah the mini modulars are almost the right scale for microfigs. Quote
Brickmamba Posted February 1, 2012 Posted February 1, 2012 I wonder if you buy enough of these whether you would be able to build the full scale modular? Quote
Piranha Posted February 1, 2012 Posted February 1, 2012 Thanks for the review. I never seem to get any of the VIP emails but I contacted TLG and now I hope I will in the future. Quote
fred67 Posted February 1, 2012 Posted February 1, 2012 Would YOU find it weird if I used these in my town near regular sized buildings? It's cheaper... Oh... it would be so cool - you could do something like a LEGO Land for your minifigures! I went ahead and got this set. I really like minis. At first I was thinking "no way" for $99, but then it turns out it's only $79 in the U.S., and I had the 10% coupon from the front of the last catalog they sent, so it was only about $72. They're obviously not as detailed as the "real" ones, but they are quite good for minis, and I'd like to build a mini city since I don't have room to build a minifig scale train layout at present. Quote
Aanchir Posted February 1, 2012 Posted February 1, 2012 Yeah the mini modulars are almost the right scale for microfigs. Actually, I think microfigs are better-suited to 1:2 scale modular buildings like this gem than to the 1:4 scale Mini Modulars set. I love the mini-modulars, but I think making figures to scale with them would require some tiny custom figures like these (the closest I've seen to purist at such a small scale). Quote
AwesomeTaylor Posted February 1, 2012 Author Posted February 1, 2012 I wonder if you buy enough of these whether you would be able to build the full scale modular? Not a chance! The parts would not be helpful, and I doubt there would be enough to make even a single floor Quote
