Mesonak Posted January 4, 2012 Posted January 4, 2012 Just a heads up: The Breakout game's available to be played over here. All I'm going to say is this. The graphics are horrible, the control scheme is awkward, and the camera is one of the worst I've seen in a game, HOWEVER. The amount of content that they packed into it was a bit shocking. I didn't expect every level to contain secrets and collectibles, not to mention a fully functional upgrade and ranking system. Seems like something I could invest some time into. 'Cept it still looks like they're working on some bugs; game doesn't save yet, even if you're signed in with your Lego ID. Oh well. Quote
optimus99 Posted January 4, 2012 Posted January 4, 2012 when you play it says sign in to save and you sign in but agian it will say sign in and you click no and it won't save. does anyone know how to save your game? Quote
Jouster Posted January 4, 2012 Posted January 4, 2012 ......LEGO...What were you thinking when you made this game? It's horrible. I can point out thousands of flaws. I'll never play this game again, it's horrid. Quote
optimus99 Posted January 4, 2012 Posted January 4, 2012 I can't save on the breakout game HELP! Quote

Mesonak Posted January 4, 2012 Author Posted January 4, 2012 For those (likely few) people that have attempted to play the Breakout game a significant level, has anyone else ran into a rather large bug directly after Rocka learns about the upgrading process and upgrades his gun to level 2 where the game's controls lock up and he can't shoot through the wall? I'm curious to see if there are others, or if its a problem exclusive to myself. Quote
Zwen Posted January 4, 2012 Posted January 4, 2012 YES. It happened to me, you have to click inside the screen and move around with the keys, you have to try to back to the game. I am in a different problem, in the second part of this level when Rocka has to jump (from a bridge to another by a "jumping arrow") looks like he get stucked and I can't get out of that problem... The Mugbearer Posted January 4, 2012 Posted January 4, 2012 (edited) And so, I has played Breakout game. It causes very mixed feelings. Pros: 1) Hero customization. Because YEAH! It isn't full customization though, but it looks good so far. 2) Simple interface during combat. Aim and shoot, plus some close combat. Makes me remember some slasher games. 3) Research system. Really interesting idea. 4) ... Cons: 1) Stupid camera! I can suffer such a type of camera in Prince of Persia, but here it just ruin all the fun! I demand free-look or at least normal aiming on different points on the screen! 2) The Furno level. The whole level is one big nonsense! Those almost invincible turret-like things that simply supress you with fire while you trying to resist unnatural stream. I say no for this kind of things! I want free swimming! Also, in Bionicle: the Game such a 'unstoppable motion'-ish levels were substantiated: Kopaka were forced to glide down from Ihou Mountain. But here I see no reasons. I died about 20 times before I have reached Jawblade. And he were a nonsense too! I just don't realize, WHAT I DID to be able to cuff him?! 3) The poor set of actions. Move, shoot and aim. What the hell, where's jumping? Oh... Why it's automated? I can understand increasing of jump height by upgrading shoes, but why I must step on some place to automatically be jumped through? Even Bionicle: the Game had more friendly gameplay. 4) It needs more different enemies and more gameplay features like dragging crates and solving puzzles. Also I regret absence of main HF games' feature - custom heroes. But it's really hard to perform, as I can judge. 5) I fear that point accumulation will be very long, monotonous process that will fully repulse any will to play further. I fear I will be FORCED to buy few HF 4.0 sets for donations... >_< I haven't played as other characters yet, but I expect more pros and cons. Edited January 4, 2012 by -N13OS- Quote
Mesonak Posted January 4, 2012 Author Posted January 4, 2012 Breakout playthrough by a friend of mine over for those of us having... difficulty playing the actual game. More parts incoming. Quote
Play With Fire Posted January 4, 2012 Posted January 4, 2012 Oh my god. That game. I attempted to play the Furno level and failed repeatedly. So I thought, screw it, I'm playing Breez. So I go through Hive, no issues, and when I get to Thornraxx, the game froze on a (poorly rendered) shot of Thornraxx. I was stuck on that, and Breez was losing health. I couldn't control Breez, hell I couldn't even see her, but Thornraxx was attacking. This game shall never cease to amuse me. Quote
Aethersprite Posted January 5, 2012 Posted January 5, 2012 I have not actually tried the game yet. Just curious, do you need the game points that come with the sets to play? (i.e. do you need to buy a set to play it, or are the game points for something else...?) Quote

Kalhiki Posted January 5, 2012 Posted January 5, 2012 ... I like the game. You're not the only one. I like it quite a bit. There are just a few issues (save feature, camera) that I would have liked improved, but can live with. Kalhiki Quote
Bfahome Posted January 5, 2012 Posted January 5, 2012 The camera and controls I can handle, they just take some getting used to. What bothers me the most is when you're being shot at by three bad guys and your hero decides that it would be a fine time to target that little canister off in the corner. … but come on, arrow key movement and spacebar shooting only? At least give us a jump feature or a way to turn around while moving in a different direction. Maybe I've just been spoiled by Valve, but control is nice. Quote

Some proper movement control. And no auto-target. Quote
Mesonak Posted January 5, 2012 Author Posted January 5, 2012 , , , , , and to Kahinuva's Breakout "Let's Play" have been uploaded to youtube. He didn't even bother with Surge due to being so tired of playing the game by that point, but he did the missions for Rocka, Furno, Evo, and Breez. Very entertaining.Oh, and some hilarious stuff happens in Part 3, let me tell you. Quote
TheRedGuy Posted January 5, 2012 Posted January 5, 2012 (edited) Speaking of Valve games, I must note how much this game reminds me of Half-Life. Space station reminds me alot of Xen from the first game and there's these grubs on the Breez level that looks alot like Antlion Grubs from episode two. .... Anyone agree? Mesonak Posted January 6, 2012 Author Posted January 6, 2012 Attempted to play the game again, and I daresay, it has more errors and glitches than my first attempt yesterday. Where to begin? Saving doesn't work for me on both Firefox and Chrome, despite the error message disappearing that claims I'm not logged into my Lego ID. So right off the bat, broken functionality that they masked by taking away the error message, without fixing the actual problem. Secondly: the game seems to "lock up" in certain areas, not recognizing that I;m actually in the game. For instance, at one point, in the Mission Select screen, after selecting my mission, it cut away to the Hero's back and stayed there, not progressing beyond that. Nothing you can do, either, except reload the page and, guess what, start from scratch. Another instance is where, in the first mission, you're prompted to upgrade your gun in order to progress. After you do that, and go back to the wall, the game does not recognize Rocka as being there, and as such, doesn't let you blast down the wall. Another problem is the camera. It's horrible. At one point, when you're introduced to "Secret Items" and you're prompted to pick up the hamburger on the first level, the camera goes haywire, flying all around the screen and trapping you, as every time the camera switches position you have to press a different arrow key to move, making it impossible to progress. At one point, after playing through the intro sequence for the fifth time, on the loading screen, the entire screen turned a sickly shade of brown, and when the actual game came up, it was distorted and brown splotches covered the screen. It was at that point that I gave up trying. They shouldn't have released the game at this point; far too many errors making it unplayable. If they'd just delayed its release long enough to fix these problems, the game would be decent. But as it stands, it's trash. Quote
Charmander11 Posted January 6, 2012 Posted January 6, 2012 I expierienced a bug where i couldn't throw my cuffs at BP in the first level. The cuffs kept spinning.... Quote
