Lind Whisperer Posted August 1, 2014 Posted August 1, 2014 (edited) From the pages of obscure LEGO history, I've mentally assembled about half an "Avengers"-style team out of canon LEGO "superheroes" - including a giant, destructive, big, green, hulking animal... DackJaniels Posted August 5, 2014 Posted August 5, 2014 Undercover family of secret agents? Like that parents room can be made into a secret spy room. Same goes for the kids rooms. Quote
AwesomeBantha Posted August 8, 2014 Posted August 8, 2014 Orient Expedition was awesome, but the building techniques and the animals are, compared to today's LEGO, not that great. It needs a re-issue! Plus, it has so many uses- Steampunk-parts, especially minifigs, considering that it's set in Victorian times Animals-elephants, yeti, etc... Parts-original OE had so many great ones and I'm sure that a re-issue will bring many more! Quote
TheLazyChicken Posted August 8, 2014 Posted August 8, 2014 I would also like a new adventurers theme like PQ, but a new underwater theme would be amazing! Quote
Ardelon Posted August 9, 2014 Posted August 9, 2014 I would also love a revisiting of the Adventurer theme, though Orient Expediion would need a more PC approach nowadays. If its time for an undersea theme, maybe the two can be combined into and undersea adventurer theme, with the reuse of the CMF "vintage-era" diver helmet. Quote

Yeah, underwater adventurers sounds interesting to me! They could mix Atlantis, Aqua Raiders, Orient Expedition, and Adventurers, and churn out great sets! One question-does PC stand for "Pirates of the Caribbean"? Quote
DarthBrickus Posted August 10, 2014 Posted August 10, 2014 One question-does PC stand for "Pirates of the Caribbean"? I think he means "Politically Correct", as some people could consider the depiction of asians / indigineous people in those sets offensive? I don't know if this was widely discussed back then, but browsing through the Theme i didn't find anything that popped into my eye in that sense. Quote

No idea if it was discussed on the internet at large, but here on EB this point was brought up. Its about the idea of mighty whities waltzing around third-world countries and solving their problems by defeating the inherently evil/stupid rulers of said countries. I dont think anyone here was actually on board with this criticism, but that doesnt mean we cant see where it is coming from. If TLG released such a theme today, I bet the controversy-mongers would have a field day. Quote
Peppermint_M Posted August 10, 2014 Posted August 10, 2014 That is why the "baddies" are non-humans these days, to set the good guys against anything else would open a whole stack of worm-cans. However one could also blame the source material and history itself, we are more sensitive today. (For better or worse, but still). I'm liking all this love for Adventurers though, I might have to capitalise on this to get Action more action so to speak. Quote
Yzalirk Posted August 10, 2014 Posted August 10, 2014 I think a Steampunk theme would be awesome for the next theme and it would have lots of potential because there are plenty of Steampunk games people play (like the Bioshock games, The Order of 1886, and lots more) as well as books (Like Leviathan, Behemoth, ect.). Also a Post-Apocalyptic theme would be awesome as well since the new Mad Max movie is going out next May and games like Fallout, Wasteland, DayZ, H1Z1, and 7 Days to Die are becoming popular online games. This would be awesome to see and I would love if LEGO made a deal with Bethesda to make Fallout sets. Quote
Drock Posted August 10, 2014 Posted August 10, 2014 Would love to see a Greek (or Roman) mythology theme. I see some problems though. 1) the sets would be so heavily-focused upon minifigs and creatures that there wouldn't be a whole lot of possibilities for exciting builds 2) It kind pretty much violates LEGO's "no religious symbols" theme. So sad. Quote
The Overlord Posted August 28, 2014 Posted August 28, 2014 (edited) Personally I'd like to see another Orient Expedition. It'd be an adventurers theme(maybe with the same cast as Pharoah's Quest or the original Adventures) that takes the characters from the deserts and jungles of India to the treacherous peaks of The Himalayas to the foggy mountains to the rivers of China. There could always be stone guardians, dragons, yetis and similar regional monsters to be the bad guys. That and perhaps a Sam Sinister type. Edited August 28, 2014 by The Overlord Quote

So sad. Actually, theres a Greek Mythology world in Lego Minifigures Online being produced by Funcom (currently in open beta), so if sets are made of the game we may at least get some Greek Mythology sets, if not an entire theme. (Mythology is currently one of four playable worlds in the game) Then again, no sets were made for Lego Universe, just polybags. Edited September 1, 2014 by Massinissa Quote
Thetford Posted November 14, 2014 Posted November 14, 2014 I have wondered about the possibility of a "Travel" theme, though not sure if that would qualify more for City or Action, but it could range from tourists in tropical print shirts buying tat from markets to backpackers trying to find themselves, while exploring ancient trapped tombs and temples, while being pursued by treasure hunters, like a modern setting take on the Adventurers theme. Think The Beach meets Tomb Raider. Though an Art Deco Dieselpunk theme wouldn't go amiss. Quote
Lego Dino 500 Posted November 14, 2014 Posted November 14, 2014 I would love to see a scifi/high fantasy theme, sort of like a mix of Lord of the Rings and Star Wars. To prevent the "uggghh not a cool licensed theme" it could have a small well developed cast of main characters and a iconic vehicle. Kind of like how Star Wars has the Millennium Falcon and Star Trek has the Enterprise. I'm guessing a cool greebly steampunk spaceship with a good sized interior and it be about exploration? Like they travel around like Buck Rodgers and explore different planets. Quote
Cagast Posted November 28, 2014 Posted November 28, 2014 New Monster Fighters theme. This won't happen because of Scooby Doo. But something great would be a theme that has an original story. For example, Dragons theme that revolves around faction that fights against huge evil dragons that try to take over the world. Quote
Dr.Cogg Posted November 29, 2014 Posted November 29, 2014 (edited) I would really like a new reimaged, Steam Punk " Time Twisters/Time Cruisers " theme, Because like the Lego Movie, the characters can travel to any theme and so can the villains. Edited November 30, 2014 by Dr.Cogg Quote
Cagast Posted November 29, 2014 Posted November 29, 2014 Yes, Time Travel theme would be awesome too. Quote
Mazin Posted December 23, 2014 Posted December 23, 2014 This is pretty self-explanatory. This thread is like the one where you suggest ideas for new Licensed themes. So... what would you like to see? Ok. So there goes a question. Is this a thread dedicated to ANY idea for a new action theme, or, AS SAIS in the original post - is this a thread dedicated only to making making new LICENSED-themes, BASED on certain FRANCHISES? Or maybe we could and could discuss BOTH, as there're no rules in this topic at all? Anyway. So when talking about franchises i'd generally like to see something that would work well with traditional lego themes, and also something that wouldn't have an exiting toy line made by other companies already. Like, I'm not really into Lego Turtles, or Lego Batman cause these were already nicely made by Playmates and Kenner. And as much as I'd like these to be brought back by respective companies, I'm against action figures having to compete with Legos, and so shrink the market. Therefore I think that best franchises for Lego would be those that aren't that aren't as universal as high class comic book superheroes. Still, Duck Tales could be a nice idea. The whole Disney universe. Duckburg and Mickyville. Disney never really made a cool line of toys based on this property. All i can think of are statues. Looking cool, but these cannot be called toys really. Than both Duck and Mickey universes give a lot of opportunities. And they could be made as either standard lego sets ( with different heads of course ) and so could be merged with City sets. Or as more childish Fabuland sets, and even merged with those. The only problem i see with making Ducks into Legos are their feet. Another one? Pirates... of Dark Water. They did have toys made by Hasbro, and they were pretty nice actually. But the the problem with PODR was that whole franchise seemed to be wat too small in a matter of possible action figures, and vehicles. It was exiting as a cartoon but it couldn't stand ground as a toy. Then, it could work well as Legos, as all of the characters and ships and building design would fit well into bricks. I can imagine Bloth's giant ship and its goblin like crew. It's also something that could be bought out cheaply, made into a live action movie + existing cartoons could arvertise these toys as well. Also John Carter seemed to be a pretty decent universe. Well, it is in books, it was in comics. Movie was somewhat strange. Basically, there was much of chaos at the beginning, and the main character was the worst part of it. But other than that ( exepct for those huge jamps maybe ) it was rather cool. Even that ugly dog was likeable And since there is a fear that LOTR and HOBBIT themes will soon get closed, maybe they could get the vibe and dig something similar but older - like Krull, or always popular Willow. Also, if Lego would like to refresh their Western theme ( sadly it didn't work out with Lone Ranger ) maybe they could go for most popular Western heroes of all the time - Magnificent Seven. This way a western theme would have it's own "name". A theme call "Magnificent Seven" always sounds better than a theme called simply "Wild West". Of course it would have to be a much bigger "expanded" universe, as i don't really remember to have trains or indians in that great flick... but... the word is they're about to do a remake so... Or it can be always called "Jonah Hex", or "Bonanza"... well whatever Quote
Peppermint_M Posted December 23, 2014 Posted December 23, 2014 Action Themes. Action and Adventure Themes. These are LEGO Developed In-House Story Driven LEGO Themes. Not existing properties owned by others. Everything, from character names and plot setting to final goals are all created by the brains at TLG, sometimes there are cartoons and games, other times there is just the toys but all of them are original ideas developed by LEGO. The first post was referring to a thread in the Licesnsed Themes forum so I can see where the confusion was from. Quote
Mazin Posted December 23, 2014 Posted December 23, 2014 Yeah i know what action and adventure themes are. I simply don't like when someone start a conversation about subject A and it goes to B and nobody notice Quote
Captain Braunsfeld Posted January 11, 2015 Posted January 11, 2015 I would really like a new reimaged, Steam Punk " Time Twisters/Time Cruisers " theme, Because like the Lego Movie, the characters can travel to any theme and so can the villains. I'd be fine with Steam Punk (however, Monster Fighters can be seen as Steam Punk) but what I miss more is some Jungle Adventure stuff. Be it "Adventurers" or the "Indiana Jones" series. Some brave heroes on an expedition finding a sunken temple. Quote
Dr.Cogg Posted January 12, 2015 Posted January 12, 2015 You could still have that with a steam punk time twisters theme, where the villains are trying to steal some Artifact, back in time and change history, then the heroes travel back through time to try and stop them. Quote
Robert8 Posted January 13, 2015 Posted January 13, 2015 (edited) That's me But I have hope since Johnny Thunder and Benny were the only minifigures LEGO brought back for The LEGO Movie. That means they know how special he is. In 2009 we got Pirates back. And we got a classic space set in The LEGO Movie theme: In the recent years, LEGO has been revisiting classic themes. I hope Adventurers will be reintroduced at some point. Some ideas: Adventurers: Atlantis Adventurers / Islanders crossover Adventurers: Time Travelers C'mon LEGO! We are ready for the next Adventure!
