A mech line could have potential as a Big Bang theme. Exo Force was very ahead of its time. They didn't really have the parts needed to execute the mech suit idea back then, but they certainly do now with things like the Mixels small ball joints and friction adding ball joint components. Ninjago dragons show that kaiju could be done well too if they wanted to go in that direction for the antagonists.

Mecha and Kaiju? You're talking about an in-house take on Del Toro's Pacific Rim eh? :moar:

Well, they kind of did that already to an extent in the final wave of Hero Factory. Personally, I'd prefer mech vs. mech stuff like Exo Force; at least at first. Kaiju could be introduced later on.

That is dedication there!

By the way, do you (or anyone else here for that matter) know who coined the term "Sky-Fi" and when that may have been? I've searched for this before thinking that it has some origins beyond the AFOL-sphere, but that's the only fandom the term seems to exist within, whereas others outside of the AFOL-sphere only use the videogame Crimson Skies as their point of reference in the naming of that warplane-centric subgenre of Dieselpunk. :shrug_confused:

I honestly can't remember! It was a term that @Rufus embraced for the more air-centric brand of dieselpunk, hence my tag. I'm going to take a look to see if I can find any origins in the mists of time...

Well, when Jon Hall started building the bulk of his many Sky-Fi warplane creations around 2011/2012, many commenters of his work over on Flickr threw around the term way back then. Plus, others AFOL builders who took their own shots at the genre around the same year(s) often cited Jon's work as their primary inspiration.

So, could the term perhaps have been birthed in response to his work then at the time? :shrug_confused:
