Paul B Technic Posted January 9, 2012 Posted January 9, 2012 HI all, I am sorry if this topic has been covered before, I did a search but could not find anything related to it. Basically I have a large sheet of MDF which I have my train set up on, now I am happy with my layout I want to attach the tracks so they don't move around as much. What methods exist for doing this and what have other people found that works / does not work? Paul Quote
kyphur Posted January 9, 2012 Posted January 9, 2012 Well, the track is designed to attach to baseplates so you could either: 1. Cover the whole MDF with baseplates OR 2. Stratigically attach a few Baseplates (like corners etc) But if you don't want to use baseplates then you could probably get a way with using small screws in the pinholes used to connect the tracks in packs of four. The screws would have to be thin to not damage the track and long to get deep enough into the MDF to be secure. Quote

Paul Small contersunk screws work very well, I'm not sure what size I used, but they stopped all movement and also meant I could move the layout without having to rip it completely apart Quote

Hey Joe Posted August 9, 2013 Posted August 9, 2013 Hi, the track has small holes in it already, so you can just use those for the screws. Joe Quote

It is one of the things most of us hate about the PF train line. I would try using flex track as filler and not as long sections of active track. At most, using only 2 or 3 in a row. Quote
tazzy007 Posted August 11, 2013 Posted August 11, 2013 Hi Spitfire, Thank you for your help. I am going to sort my track out now. Cheers Tazzy Quote
tazzy007 Posted August 13, 2013 Posted August 13, 2013 Hi All Here's my Train layout up to now. I still need some Switch track's and more track. I also need some more MDF to finish the end part off. Cheers Tazzy http://www.flickr.com/photos/tazaboo/9496339435/ Quote
