Brickdoctor Posted March 13, 2013 Author Posted March 13, 2013 Why do I get the feeling that those are going to become some sort of collectible item that some players will still pay ridiculous amounts of Pyra Rings for? Quote
Brickadeer Posted March 17, 2013 Posted March 17, 2013 Well, they're soulbound. You took a good time for a time-out: trading has been suspended until the duping problem has been fixed. All items are soulbound. Trading isn't even possible via dropping. Quote
Brickdoctor Posted March 17, 2013 Author Posted March 17, 2013 That's funny because the last time I took a break, there was also a duping problem, and a bunch of honest players got banned and unbanned and it was apparently really messy. 'Course for now, that means that I can't remax since all my pots are sorted out onto multiple mules, so if this no trading thing continues, it might be longer before I play again. Quote
Brickadeer Posted March 17, 2013 Posted March 17, 2013 (edited) Well...of course, there's still the option of playing with self-found items only That way, you can (at least start to) max you character :) Edited March 17, 2013 by Brickadeer Quote
Brickadeer Posted March 19, 2013 Posted March 19, 2013 Not sure if anyone knew about it, but when you create a new account with a new character, this character has so to say one "free death". Basically, he doen't die, is warned by the game that death is permanent and reappears in Nexus. Quote
TheBoyWonder Posted March 21, 2013 Posted March 21, 2013 Shame not all accounts get that. I'm half tempted to make a new account, and trade all equips over. Quote
Costy Posted March 21, 2013 Posted March 21, 2013 New accounts only get 50 gold though, so if you want a 2nd character you have to by $10 worth of gold instead of the regular $5... Quote
Brickadeer Posted March 22, 2013 Posted March 22, 2013 (edited) Did anyone have the opportunity to test the new pets? Just in case anyone doesn't know: https://forums.wildshadow.com/node/195001 Edited March 22, 2013 by Brickadeer Quote
Brickdoctor Posted March 22, 2013 Author Posted March 22, 2013 I got as far as the part where you can 'feed your pet' to increase its power. Then I went, "What is Realm turning into? " Seriously, in my mind, that mechanic in no way fits in with what the concept of Realm is, and it just seems like another way for Kabam to sell stuff that gives a gameplay advantage. If they really want to make pets useful, there was once a suggestion that pets could go grab higher SB bags and drop them at your feet, for those times when a blue, cyan or white bag drops in the middle of a mob of enemies. That fits in with the concept of Realm's game mechanics: a permadeath MMO shooter where the goal is to shoot stuff to get loot. Feeding food to pets... not so much. That sounds more like something out of a life simulation game than a shooter. Besides, we already have animals that can follow us around, attack enemies, heal us, and be bought in the Nexus. They're called Drake Eggs. Quote
Costy Posted March 23, 2013 Posted March 23, 2013 (edited) I am very disappointed with this release. Not only are pets giant (Some are bigger then players ), the divine healers are insanely overpowered, l . Really, this whole pet-farm idea is horrible, with the healing pets you won't need priests, The damaging pet would ruin Tombs and Kabam are too focused on releasing new things than fixing the truckload of bugs. Edit: This is from the original Kabam ownership release. You may have heard the news, Wild Shadow has been recently acquired by Kabam! This is an awesome thing: basically meaning that we will have more resources to put behind the game and more room to flex our game-making arms. Willem is going to continue to head the project as game designer and will be making sure that Realm stays true to its roots, stays awesome, and stays centered around you guys (our amazing community). His game-plan is to keep expanding realm, add new dungeons, expand the guild system, add some high-level content, and maybe even new classes. So far Kabam has: Stayed true to RotMG's roots- No Stayed centered around the Community- All of the long term players have been very disappointed/angry with recent changes Expanding realm- 1 new Event (Dragon) Add new dungeons- This is the only good thing they've done. Expand the Guild system- untouched Add some high level content- no New classes- Only Ninja, but I'm fine with that. Edited March 23, 2013 by Costy Quote

Costy Posted March 23, 2013 Posted March 23, 2013 I didn't even mention the thousands of duped items and the insanely high drop rate. Quote
Brickdoctor Posted March 23, 2013 Author Posted March 23, 2013 I didn't even mention the thousands of duped items and the insanely high drop rate. I take it the "no trading or mules to stop duping" strategy is working really well. Quote
Brickadeer Posted March 31, 2013 Posted March 31, 2013 Not sure if anyone is into pets, but here I my experiences with pets: - Common and Uncommon Pets drop in godlands. Uncommon pets are way more, well, uncommon than common pets. - Each pet can have up to three abilities. Common Pets can upgrade the first ability in the list, Uncommon pets can upgrade the first two abilities in the list and so on. - If you want Heal and Magic heal, they should be the first two abilities mentioned. - The free Valentine Pack that is still available for 0 Gold comes with 5 Valentine Eggs, each one having 250 feeding power which is quite good. Each of your mules should get it. Quote
Brickadeer Posted April 2, 2013 Posted April 2, 2013 Well, may not worth the bump, but Hasenklein has entered the top 100 of Necromancers: http://www.realmeye.com/top-necromancers Quote
Brickdoctor Posted April 2, 2013 Author Posted April 2, 2013 Congratulations! As for the pets, I'll be completely honest: When I started out on this month-long break, I really wanted to play Realm for a couple weeks, and I decided not to since I knew I needed the break. Then I heard about the pets and all the other changes Kabam has made... and I honestly am not getting that desire to play the game anymore. It's been longer than a month now since I last played, and I'm not going to go so far as to declare myself inactive, but it seems to me that the game has ceased to be the "go out and shoot 'em up with your friends" game that I found so simply fun and addictive in the first place. Kabam's added too many different items and ways to get them. The whole original concept of Realm was that you had just four equips and eight stats with which to slaughter the same enemies over and over and over, and you could do it with other players anytime anywhere. Now the game is more about who can grind the most to get the latest greatest item the fastest. Quote
Costy Posted April 2, 2013 Posted April 2, 2013 (edited) I haven't been playing either, but it looks like pets are way too easy to level. (I fed my Ant a Gbow and Spd pot and it went from level 0 to 10, and there's already over 50 Legendary pets on realmeye.) The feed power is really unbalanced, with an EP giving twice the amount of an Astral and the same as a Ruby. Kabam have also un-soulbound some items, but all T6 abilities, T5 rings and all UT items are still soulbound. They changed the text into one which is harder to read and he names are messed up when teleporting. Edited April 2, 2013 by Costy Quote
Skipper Posted April 6, 2013 Posted April 6, 2013 Do pots no longer drop from the godlands? In about an hour of playing today, I had six blue bags drop, all of which contained eggs, not pots. Quote
Brickadeer Posted April 6, 2013 Posted April 6, 2013 Pots still drop from glands, but only occasionally. Eggs drop way more often. Quote
Costy Posted April 7, 2013 Posted April 7, 2013 (edited) Was running UDLs today, when I got this. Pity they're soulbound now. Edit: And I saw my first Divine pet today. Edit 2: 20 minutes later... Edited April 7, 2013 by Costy Quote
Brickadeer Posted April 8, 2013 Posted April 8, 2013 Cool...I still got only two white bags so far, one with a treasure-part and the other with a (pretty worthless) ammy of zombification. Lucky find Quote
Darth Nihilus Posted April 29, 2013 Posted April 29, 2013 Not sure if it's worth posting on here, as everyone else seems to have quit (I never see anyone on anymore!), but Kabam just released a new dungeon, the Forest Maze, on Testing. Not sure where Draconis went, but the Maze seems like a decent low-level dungeon. You can see a playthrough here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ikMClyb7DW4& . Also, T6 abilities are now being sold in the Nexus. Quote
Brickadeer Posted April 30, 2013 Posted April 30, 2013 Not sure if it's worth posting on here, as everyone else seems to have quit (I never see anyone on anymore!)...I felt exactly the same some time ago I'm just in the final phase of finishing college. I'd play RoTMG if I felt I had the time, but currently, I don't have. Also, T6 abilities are now being sold in the Nexus. Personally, I don't like it, but I think it was predictable. Quote
