Brickdoctor Posted May 27, 2012 Author Posted May 27, 2012 That's weird. Everyone seems to be dying and gaining pots today. (except for the seemingly immortal Hasenklein, who is, well, Hasenklein ) I lost my Wizzy today, too, who had been alive for over three weeks. (albeit including a week of rage quit and a week of sitting around while I used my 7/8 Necro) Then I rolled a Necro, and the pots started to rain down. My gains are around 7 Def in pots and lower value items, in addition to an Exa HP from O1. (which I've now used to make my 7/8 look at least decently awesome in the absence of an Ammy ) Quote
Darth Nihilus Posted May 27, 2012 Posted May 27, 2012 Lag killed my 1/8 Rogue with Emmy, Red Agent, Roc, and Para Def, earlier. Loss of 3.75 def. And now I have almost no pots left. Quote
Brickadeer Posted May 27, 2012 Posted May 27, 2012 (edited) (except for the seemingly immortal Hasenklein, who is, well, Hasenklein ) Ah :) Hasenklein was already down to 47 HP, and experienced a lag once that may have resulted in death. So far, he's been lucky. Life is not a grant, it's just borrowed. Apparently, I'm just a bit late with giving it back :) Poor Hasenklein, which was my first Necro, died while I ran into one direction, while a different character approached him from quite the opposite direction. Unfortunately, so did the gods the character was fleeing from, which turned Hasenklein The Relative Successfull Necromancer into Hasenklein The Pretty Much Dead Necromancer, or, in short, Poor Hasenklein. What I have learnt from this incident is to avoid crowds of players, because the screen becomes incredibly confusing. What I have learnt as well is to quit to Nexus if I see there might be even the chance that I run into a crowd. So far, that seems to work for me. Edited May 27, 2012 by Brickadeer Quote

So far, I've had four Wizards, two Necros, and five other Rogues TP or run up to me while I'm cloaked, and almost always that results in instant death. So, I try to stay away from other players. Brickadeer Posted May 28, 2012 Posted May 28, 2012 I still wonder how you guys deal enough damage with Oryx to make him drop items. Do you dance him a lot? If you do so, does the graphics etc. run smoothly? Quote
Darth Nihilus Posted May 28, 2012 Posted May 28, 2012 I still wonder how you guys deal enough damage with Oryx to make him drop items. Do you dance him a lot? If you do so, does the graphics etc. run smoothly? With Knight, I do the dancing. The other classes, not so much. They don't have enough DEF to take any snowballs, and I always end up backing into an Anti-Spectator. Same for "BE SILENT!". Quote
Brickdoctor Posted May 28, 2012 Author Posted May 28, 2012 First, you have to know the phases. You can usually identify them by what O1 says. (though sometimes he'll just start doing it) The first phase is always just the red minions. If you get lucky, you might get an opening as O1 drops his invulnerability, otherwise with a non-piercing weapon, you're just killing the minions and looking for said opening. The phases after that are random, though O1 will always dismiss his minions with the line, "Bah, I need no minions to destroy you!" or "These minions will only get in my way!" before he begins the next phase. "BE SILENT!" begins the ring and bombs phase. O1 creates a ring of indestructible turrets around him, then he Quiets and Weakens everyone inside the ring or standing too close the ring, and then he begins shooting out three bombs at a time that do 200+ Damage. You have to circle O1, finding the spot between the bombs to stand while they explode. This takes a lot of getting used to, and trying to back away can get you killed by the ring or the circling Anti-Spectators. Additionally, being Quieted and Weakened, your offensive power is significantly decreased, so if you're not confident that you can do the phase, stay out. "Time for more dancing!" begins the ring, bombs, and snowball phase. O1 creates the same ring and Quiets and Weakens. Then he shoots out tons of snowballs in a pattern while shooting out bombs at random places. You can try to dodge the bombs, but you'll probably end up running through snowballs. I avoid this phase entirely. "If I see you, I will kill you!" and "All who look upon my face shall die!" begin the shotgun phase. O1 shoots out a huge two-bullet shotgun that deals 500+ Damage if you take both hits. He may or may not shoot out small snowballs at the same time. I usually set my screen to off-center and stand as far away as I can while still hitting O1, which gives me enough time to respond if he shoots at me. (he only shoots in one direction, so unless all the players are clustered in one area, he's not necessarily shooting at you) "My artifacts will protect me!" begins the artifacts phase. Oryx sends out a bunch of blue thingies that circle him at varying speeds and spray bullets. If there are a lot of healers, you can just follow the group. Otherwise, dodge the big and medium snowballs, try to dodge the littler bullets, and back out to regain HP/drink a pot if you need to. Do not stand still, because if an artifact stands on you and sprays out all its bullets, it could be an instant-death shotgun. "The universe bends to my will alone!" begins the white moons phase. O1 sends out a bunch of white moons that circle him, then he Quiets everyone, shoots out a bunch of big bullets, shoots out small snowballs in a pattern circling him (similar to Septavious' first phase), and then goes back to big bullets and another Quieting. Squeeze between the big bullets, circle to avoid the small snowballs, and squeeze between the last big bullets. The shots from O1 do Weaken, so don't get hit by those if you want a chance at SB Damage. Also, don't let the moons stand on you. "Behold my cosmic might", or something like that, begins the black moons phase. Bunch of black moons run around and spray bullets everywhere that Daze. I just avoid this phase. "Fools! Flee while you can!" and another line that I can't remember begin the chase phase. O1 creates a grid of turrets that also Quiet, and then he chases one of the players near him. He shoots stars that Daze and very short-range bullets. It's not a bad thing if he's chasing you, because you can easily kite him. If O1 shoots out thin white bullets and states his HP, then he's beginning the normal ninja. Do not stop running. Do not run at O1. Do not let a ninja stand on you. Do not get hit by a Slowing star. "ENOUGH!" and "I HAVE HAD ENOUGH OF YOU!" begin the final phase, which is always the same. O1 regenerates about 1,000 HP, then he doubles in size and sends out ninjas and minions. He will chase the player closest to him, but he'll also move randomly, almost like a Leviathan. Try to circle around to where you can get him to chase you, but also watch your map so that you don't run into ninjas, which he'll be creating around him as they die. If you think you've already done SB Damage, you're low on HP, and you think the other players can kill him, it's not a bad idea to back off and let them finish the job, then go in to see if you got loot. K-Nut Posted May 28, 2012 Posted May 28, 2012 Lost my Level 16 Wizzy in O1 with a Horror, Scorching, and Para Vit. I think I may have broken something after hitting the computer desk in pure rage. Quote

Brickadeer Posted May 28, 2012 Posted May 28, 2012 (edited) Ouch. RIP, Hasenklein. Thanks. In all honesty, it was pure stupidity to approach him. HP were low, and I knew it, I knew it, I knew it, I saw it coming, and approached him nevertheless. Hm. It actually was a masterpiece of stupidity. I planned to get 20 Life Pots with this char, now it will take incredibly much longer. And I lost 2 Def pots I kept from the Godsland. So, there is no need to be in rage. Godland without a maxed char totally sucks. Edited May 28, 2012 by Brickadeer Quote
Brickadeer Posted May 29, 2012 Posted May 29, 2012 (edited) Got my first soulbound (light-blue bag) from Oryx today, containing a Def-Pot. edit: O2 - Skysplitter Sword (t11) Edited May 29, 2012 by Brickadeer Quote
Brickdoctor Posted May 30, 2012 Author Posted May 30, 2012 edit: O2 - Skysplitter Sword (t11) It's amazing how much O2 likes you, as compared to how much O1 hates you. An update on my search for a second class: I rolled a Huntress yesterday. Love the way those perform at O1, with the trap to slow down the minions in the castle and the piercing bow to hit O1 during artifacts and ninja phases. In godlands, the range is decent, but it's so hard to focus the Damage. (and there's no way I'm buying a Coral Bow just for a 4/8 char) It was a bad roll, so I suicided her. Today, I tried Rogue. Seemed like a good choice, since I want to do more events and I can farm Dex easily. I can't get used to the class in godlands, though. It took me forever to kill anything. I ended up dying to a pair of Medusas at Level 16. Quote
Brickadeer Posted May 30, 2012 Posted May 30, 2012 (edited) Made a new mule, started leveling, had to go to Oryx' castle, and made him drop Diabolic Secrets at level 13 Uploaded with ImageShack.us I think Oryx is much more difficult if the connection is not good, and the game doesn't run smoothly. Brickdoctor Posted May 30, 2012 Author Posted May 30, 2012 Made a new mule, started leveling, had to go to Oryx' castle, and made him drop Diabolic Secrets at level 13 Now this is just ridiculous. Your first decent item drop from O1 comes from an unnamed Level 13 mule. Quote

Darth Nihilus Posted May 31, 2012 Posted May 31, 2012 Well, I almost ragequit last night. After a day of losing almost five def in equips, not one character staying alive at 20 for more than a few minutes, and no one buying my stuff when I sold, I got scammed buying a Para Def ring. Lost 1.66 def to the scammer, and 4.5 def in equips, for a total loss of 6.16 def or ~1 life. My current wealth is embedded in a single Vit pot. Quote

Oh I'm not sure why you tend to die so often at level 20. Personally, I like playing more safely to accumulate wealth. If you prefer playing risky, I'd use t8 equip only and I wouldn't use stat pots on this character. The Necromancer is perfect for a safe playstyle since he can heal himself while dealing comparatively much damage. He doesn't seem to be a great choice against Oryx, though (of course the blame goes to character, and not to me ). As I have shown, you can make Oryx drop items with relatively weak characters, which can be a relatively easy way to get items. Plus, it doesn't matter if such characters die. Brickdoctor Posted May 31, 2012 Author Posted May 31, 2012 Have any of you seen this? I thought they looked pretty good, even if the techniques were rather simple. (it's really just a vertical mosaic, and he didn't apply the 5:2 ratio to get square pixels instead of rectangles) We should do this. Quote
Skipper Posted May 31, 2012 Posted May 31, 2012 (edited) I've said for a while that someone should build our guild hall, I just don't have the skillz. I also tried for a while to build a MOC of a rogue attacking a cube, but, again, my collection/posing skills fail me. The pics in that thread aren't loading for me though . . . can someone deeplink one for me? Edited May 31, 2012 by Skipper Quote
K-Nut Posted May 31, 2012 Posted May 31, 2012 I thought of doing a mosaic of a Sorcerer once, but I never got around to it. Those look pretty awesome. Quote

Brickdoctor Posted June 1, 2012 Author Posted June 1, 2012 I reorganized some of my mules and got rid of all the excess lower-tier items that I was hoarding for no reason, and nearly filled up my freebie mule, so if there's some stuff you're looking for, it might be on there. It's mostly wands, robes, and daggers, plus a couple staves. Quote
Brickadeer Posted June 2, 2012 Posted June 2, 2012 Died again, and decided to quit. If anyone wants my items (a couple of pots and t10 items), please tell me. Quote
