Costy Posted January 22, 2013 Posted January 22, 2013 (edited) Stat potions no longer drop from mobs in Godlands. They will still drop from encounter bosses in the Realm. Clarification: Removed potions from the following monsters: Sprite God, Medusa, White Demon, Ent God, Beholder, Flying Brain, Slime God, Ghost God, the Rock Constructs, Djinn, and Leviathan The other stuff seems alright though. Brickadeer Posted January 22, 2013 Posted January 22, 2013 The other stuff seems alright though. No, I think there are dropping way too many pets. Practically everyone has one, now (made two UT-runs, got a "Lil' Ghost" pet in each run). The problem is that the pets are drawing way too much attention when playing. The second problem is that once I activated a pet, there's no way of getting rid of it... Quote
Brickdoctor Posted January 25, 2013 Author Posted January 25, 2013 So, the best way for new players to start maxing while learning how to fight the harder enemies so they can stop begging is now nonexistent? And if we want stat pots, we have to run all those dungeons that are often so long they're not worth the guaranteed stat pot? (other than Sprite World, but the price of Dex is already so low because those are so easy to run) Quote

(other than Sprite World, but the price of Dex is already so low because those are so easy to run) I think you're basically right. Currently, I find SP and UT terribly easy, but then again, I can't do them fast, I'm 4/8 and they only get me SPD and WIS. As for the Sprite World, I really need someone who teaches me how to do it ATT and DEF occansionally drop from Oryx. As for new players, I can't even imagine how they are supposed to get stat pots at a reasonably pace. Quote
Brickdoctor Posted January 25, 2013 Author Posted January 25, 2013 At 4/8, when you get into a Sprite, just rush to the boss. The only thing you have to watch out for are Sprite Gods; I've gotten shotgunned for a loss of around 400 HP by Sprite Gods that I ran into when I wasn't paying attention before. When you get to Limon, shoot her a couple times and retreat quickly. She shouldn't charge you, but if she does, just back out of her room into a passageway. Limon'll shoot seven AoE attacks - fewer if she spent a lot of time chasing you - and then shoot out the turrets. Stand in between the two squares formed by the turrets, and you should be able to find a spot where you have enough range to reach Limon but you're outside the area where she'll detect you and fire. (if you can't see Limon, just aim for the quest marker) Do it once or twice and she should go down. As far as I can tell, still works, if you want a video explanation.UDLs can be done quickly if you rush, but I don't do it anymore after I lost my second 6/8 Necro (the one before the one that just died) to a lair burst trap. Snakes can be rushed too, and easily, but the 1 Spd isn't worth it and it's definitely not worth the time to look for a treasure room that may or may not actually be in the Pit. Quote
Brickadeer Posted January 25, 2013 Posted January 25, 2013 Release 10: Let's try this again Submitted by msellers on Thu, 01/24/2013 - 22:30 Tonight we've taken the unusual step of doing a new release just three days after our previous one. This is unusual for something that's not just a hotfix, but we felt (and I'm sure most of you will agree) that this was needed. What's new in Release 10: Potions have returned to the godlands! They now drop from all the monsters that used to drop them. Drop rates of potions within dungeons have been increased. In particular we have made defense potions a little easier to get. Dungeon drop rates in the godlands have been reduced somewhat, but not to their former levels. Drop rates of loot items in dungeons (especially rare and UT items) have been significantly increased. (Rare pets in dungeons are still really rare.) Edited to add: UTs are still very, very rare. They're just not as insanely rare as they were before. And as you know, if they become too easy to get, we'll dial them back down again. The Nexus Crier is back! Now with new, helpful, and informative things to tell you. Behind-the-scenes work on Fame and some other things we're working on. Bug Fixes: The "interact key" will no longer send you someplace you didn't want to go. There is an edgecase involving the Cloth Bazaar that we're aware of and are working to fix. remm edit: false. Go from the vault directly to the guild hall. Your interact key will now be broken Clicking "Play" no longer defaults chosen character to a Wizard on the Loading screen / Skin selection modal Tab feature now functions correctly in the registration modal New characters no longer have a Health Potion occupying an inventory slot Character names are no longer cut off in the list of nearby players Ninja class now displays class unlock requirements Package icon display properly in the realms Why we did this As we've said many times, we're going to try a lot of new things with Realm, and not all of them are going to work. This was definitely one of those times. Not only has the response to our changes to the way that the godlands and dungeons work been loud and clear, it's also clear from overall player behavior that this was not popular or effective for the game. So, we've changed things back, mostly, while still trying to move toward the goals we have for making the game less grindy, less intimidating (but still highly skill-based), and more focused on playing lots of characters rather than playing just one. We may make further changes to the godlands, dungeons, drops, etc., as part of introducing new features. But as always, if it doesn't work, we won't keep it. We're all about making the game better, not about sticking to our ideas right or wrong. FWIW, a lot of the input from you all over the past three days has been informative and helpful in our evaluation of this change (other input was... not so helpful). To those of you who were civil, even if passionate and opinionated, thank you. We do listen (even if there is no way for us to respond to every post, comment, and private message), and saying things that help us see other points of view is very helpful. Quote
Brickadeer Posted January 26, 2013 Posted January 26, 2013 (edited) Currently, the drop rate in dungeons is strongly improved (probably for a limited time, though). In UT, monsters are dropping t8/4 items/skills relatively often (= way more than gods in godlands). I don't know though what drops in more difficult dungeons. Does anyone know? edit: Finally learnt that changing the cursor is pretty simple. Currently, I'm using this one for RotMG: http://www.rw-designer.com/cursor-detail/27070 Edited January 26, 2013 by Brickadeer Quote
Brickdoctor Posted January 29, 2013 Author Posted January 29, 2013 Malphas drops Def now? Is that new, or was I just really unlucky in the countless Abysses I ran before? Quote
Brickadeer Posted January 30, 2013 Posted January 30, 2013 (edited) Malphas drops Def now? Is that new, or was I just really unlucky in the countless Abysses I ran before? I can't tell because I never ran him. However, he (and all other dungeon bosses) should drop way more white bags now. (I still haven't found single one during the whole time I played this game.) But Stheno can drop Def now as well, so it actually may have changed. Edited January 30, 2013 by Brickadeer Quote
Brickdoctor Posted January 30, 2013 Author Posted January 30, 2013 Ooh, really? Time to run more Abysses to finish maxing Vit and get that DBlade for my Pally. (that I pretty much never play, but it'd look awesome. ) Quote
Brickdoctor Posted February 2, 2013 Author Posted February 2, 2013 It looks like Def is a guaranteed drop from Malphas, because I've run maybe fifteen or so in the process of taking both my Priest and my new Necro to 6/8 and I've gotten Def every time. UT drops rates... perhaps they have increased, because Costy got a Plane from Limon and Malphas gave me this: (no picture of the white bag in the Abyss, unfortunately; I was trying to hurry up and pick up my loot while rejecting trade requests from a Warrior who kept trading me after I said, "DBlade!". On a related note, I saw a Bulwark on sale for 1 Life + 4 Def and pulled the trigger on that, plus EPs are really cheap (1 Life), so all my chars are now running around with UTs) And also while I was rolling yesterday I got bored and started an NPE. (New Player Experience) Now Blokdoctor's doing something useful, other than holding my Vit pots. Quote
Darth Nihilus Posted February 7, 2013 Posted February 7, 2013 Hey guys.....Wow, it's certainly been a while. Just here to say that I'm finally recovered from losing two 4/8 Rogues in a row, and I'm now playing a brand-new Ninja! I also tried out the testing server, and it worked, so I ran, like, 30 Lairs of Draconis in a row. That dungeon is seriously awesome, but testing went down a few days back, so now I can't do them anymore. I just hope that the Event Boss that drops the dungeon isn't too hard, otherwise I might not get another one until I get the guts to max again.... Quote
Fred Daniel Yam Posted February 7, 2013 Posted February 7, 2013 Holy shit I haven't played in so long I tried Ninja when Kongregate started their RotMG exclusive campaign and everyone got a free pet. Still playing a Knight for now. Still horrible at the game. Quote
Brickdoctor Posted February 8, 2013 Author Posted February 8, 2013 Yeah, welcome back. So anyways, Kabam goofed last night, and they pushed the Lair of Draconis keys to prod with the testing price of 10-20 Fame. They took down the servers, but not before some people got the new T14 items. (apparently the green dragon drops the T14 leather, the red drops the T14 heavy armor, the blue drops the T14 robe, and the black drops the UT Celestial Blade katana) I didn't get any of those, but I ran a bunch of lairs and I know Costy did some, too. Got a good amount of Spd and Att. Servers are back up now, and there does not appear to have been a rollback because I still have all my loot, and my alt still has his eight Draconis keys. No idea what the keys will do now if used. About the dungeon itself, I wouldn't say it was hard, just that it takes forever. If I had a couple hours to burn I know I could solo on Priest, if I didn't get bored and leave. The new tops aren't the same as the original T13s and T14s that were on testing last year. (Leviathan Hide, BMJ's blue dagger, etc.) They're new dragon-themed items which are really just recolors of existing UTs. (which is a pity; the Tlatoani doesn't look that great in my opinion, while I think the Robe of the Ancient Intellect looks terrific as a blue recolor of GSorc) Quote
Brickdoctor Posted February 9, 2013 Author Posted February 9, 2013 The server just restarted and then told me I needed to update my client, so I refreshed, but now it's telling me that I have RotMG build 11.1.0, and the server's on 11.0.0. So now it won't let me get in, saying that I have a newer version than the server. Anyone else got that problem? Quote
Costy Posted February 9, 2013 Posted February 9, 2013 (edited) Same here, it's not working on Steam, Firefox or Chrome. Edit: It looks like it's an update to turn the Draconis Keys to Keys to room with a random stat potion. Edited February 9, 2013 by Costy Quote
Brickdoctor Posted February 9, 2013 Author Posted February 9, 2013 Edit: It looks like it's an update to turn the Draconis Keys to Keys to room with a random stat potion. They think that's going to fix the problem? Some members on the forums were talking about buying over a hundred of the keys. Even if you only got Spds, 25 Def for 1K Fame isn't a bad deal, considering that there's pretty much nothing useful you can do with Fame right now. Quote

Brickdoctor Posted February 26, 2013 Author Posted February 26, 2013 I'm Back in the action. Logging on now, to see where I got to last. I hadn't checked this thread, so I'm a bit late here (although I saw you in game when you logged in), but welcome back, BoyWonder! For those who haven't played in the past couple of days, we got the 100K Guild Fame upgrade to the Guild Hall; definitely check that out. I'm also getting rid of some mid-high tier items on my mules and I've got a bunch of stuff that you can have for free: DSoul (T9) x1 VBow (T9) x1 Horror (T8) x9 Shadow (T10) x2 Ichi (T10) x2 Deso (T10) x1 Renewing (T4) x2 DSphere (T4) x7 ETap (T4) x4 Sup Def (T3) x6 And if you collect wines, I have: Sauvignon Blanc x2 So if you want to get an equipment upgrade or start a new char, there's a lot of more than decent equips up for grabs. Quote
Fred Daniel Yam Posted February 27, 2013 Posted February 27, 2013 ooh I need the Veng, Bow and DSoul if noone wants em Quote
K-Nut Posted February 27, 2013 Posted February 27, 2013 I definitely need a couple horrors, an ETap, Dsphere, and an Ichi for when I get around to Ninja, if that's not too much to ask for. Quote
Brickdoctor Posted February 28, 2013 Author Posted February 28, 2013 ooh I need the Veng, Bow and DSoul if noone wants em I gave the Deso and DSoul to one of Nihilus' friends that I was playing with, but you can have the VBow. I definitely need a couple horrors, an ETap, Dsphere, and an Ichi for when I get around to Ninja, if that's not too much to ask for. Sure. I'll put all the stuff on my freebie mule next time I'm on. My 5/8, 800+ Fame Pally with Old Tops, CSword and DBlade died this morning when I was stupid enough to try to do O2 on melee, so I'm kind of doing a one- to two- day mini-ragequit. (I have enough pots to 5/8 an average-roll Pally and backups of all the equips, so it's not a big deal; I'm just mad at myself for trying to do the WC in the first place and for not waiting for a Knight to get a Stun in before I charged in. Probably will wait to remax until after I've gotten the necessary Life to go 7/8 with my Priest which has a CWand, Prot, GSorc and Exa HP ready and waiting for him, though.) Quote
