def Posted January 15, 2012 Posted January 15, 2012 I'm just worn out for hearing how stupid, illogical, worhtless and unhelpful I've been this whole day. I hope you can find yourself able to forgive me... Of course, I don't hold grudges. But, maybe in future games you may want to rethink your strategy... I want to quote whatever condescending advice you gave me 'yesterday', but I don't feel like taking the time to look it up Honestly though, I don't care, I just consider you part of the fool's jury trying to convict me yesterday, trying to teach me how to respect people... I consider this your karma, I suppose You're all good in my book
Scubacarrot Posted January 15, 2012 Posted January 15, 2012 Look, Ms. Murrygold. Who is the one person I know I can trust? The virgin I found last night. They are the only person who can say, 'Goodenhard sought contact with me'. To publicly do so, would be telling the cultists, 'look at me, I'm the virgin Goodenhard found'. What you want would lead a virgin right into the hands of the cultists. Whose-Side-Are-You-On? If you really are only going to respond to half of what I said, and repeat things from people above you, dont bother next time. I would like to add that 'little danger' might have been a poor way of putting it, He was indeed the person with the most votes (7, against 5 for Fritz) at the time.
Fugazi Posted January 15, 2012 Posted January 15, 2012 Ackbar, if you trust me enough, would you please ask one of your virgins to privately reveal themselves to me. I can investigate them myself, and have a line of trust and communication running between us. Uh, what kind of plan is that? Roger, if you want to keep the town's trust don't ask for virgins to be revealed to you, it's your job after all to find them!
Zepher Posted January 15, 2012 Posted January 15, 2012 What a ridiculous day. I'm finding it very hard to follow with one person holding all the cards. Frankly, Mehmet has a lot of power, and if he's town that's good and if he's not, that's terrible, but for now there's no point to taking him out, and we'll just have to pray to god that he's town. Roger seems to be good, for the time being. I think that his claim is honest, and his need to not alert anyone as to who he found to be virgin is a true one. However, and I'm sure he knows this, if he finds two virgins, he MUST put the two of them into contact. That will start to clear things up at least a little, and we'll have the basis for a proven to be good innocents power-house. I would, however, like to Unvote: Jennifer Taylor (Sandy) and vote: Mellifluous Murgatroyd (Scubacarrot). A supposed virgin is too much to lose right now. Roger, why don't you investigate her tonight, and see what she turns up? That would be a good way to use your ability. If she's lying, we'll lynch her, if she's not, the cultists haven't REALLY gained all that much information, as she's already claimed in thread.
Scubacarrot Posted January 15, 2012 Posted January 15, 2012 GREAT, vote for me, without explaining yourself! That will help bring the level of ridiculousness down, surely!
Pandora Posted January 15, 2012 Author Posted January 15, 2012 Vote Tally Mehmet Attabar (Hinckley): 2 Votes (Sandy, Scubacarrot) Jennifer Taylor (Sandy): 8 Votes (Eskallon, fhomess, Hinckley, JimButcher, Brickdoctor, ADHO15, Cecilie, CorneliusMurdock) Ophelia Balls (fhomess): 1 Vote (KielDaMan) Melaena Stools (CallMePieOrDie): 1 Vote (def) Mellifluous Murgatroyd (Scubacarrot): 2 Votes (Professor Flitwick, Zepher)
Zepher Posted January 15, 2012 Posted January 15, 2012 GREAT, vote for me, without explaining yourself! That will help bring the level of ridiculousness down, surely! I voted for you because you take issue with Mehmet organizing the town and Roger's ability. You've voted for both of them, and currently they are the two (along, perhaps, with Patrick) who seem to be doing most for the camp. Therefore, you are the most likely cultist. I don't really have a clear idea who is a cultist, to be honest, but I need Jennifer alive long enough to test her claim. If Roger finds she has an action, any action, she is confirmed Cultist for me, but if we lose another virgin... well, I don't want to think about that.

Where have I said that I take issue with organizing? I have stated my reasons for voting for him, I am not going to repeat them, you can be a big boy and read them back yourself. I also don't take issue with Roger's ability, I just dont believe he has it, and if you read back on the things I have said about this matter, it makes sense.
Eskallon Posted January 15, 2012 Posted January 15, 2012 GREAT, vote for me, without explaining yourself! That will help bring the level of ridiculousness down, surely! I agree, I know you have just explained Zeph me boy, but next this is the second time you voted without explanation. I don't really have a clear idea who is a cultist, to be honest, but I need Jennifer alive long enough to test her claim. If Roger finds she has an action, any action, she is confirmed Cultist for me, but if we lose another virgin... well, I don't want to think about that. Wait a minute there, am I missing something, what claim is this? That she's a virgin?
Brickdoctor Posted January 15, 2012 Posted January 15, 2012 Wait a minute there, am I missing something, what claim is this? That she's a virgin? Jennifer claimed virgin somewhere around four pages hours back, remember? Wow, you talk a lot. Right now, the Virgin claim doesn't change anything as far as my opinion of Jennifer is concerned; it just makes the stakes a little higher. On the other hand, my suspiciousness of Mellifluous has certainly increased. Like a couple other players others have mentioned, she seems to be trying very hard to get information concerning roles revealed in public. For such information to be public would be even worse than if it was blabbed to Mehmet like so much else allegedly was. Oh, yes, and since I'm now apparently allowed to reference books, in a book called Gotham Mafia, the ones who didn't respond calmly to insults and complained about discourteous accusations were the Scum who were panicking.

You've voted for both of them, and currently they are the two (along, perhaps, with Patrick) who seem to be doing most for the camp. Therefore, you are the most likely cultist. I have to agree with this, but on the other hand Mellifluous voted for Mehmet, which would not make sense if both of them were cultists. But I will stand-by this situation and change my vote if Mellifluous starts gaining more votes - if for no other reason than that I need to survive for the innocents' sake. I'm surely a goner in a night or two, but at least the cultists wouldn't be able to get me killed for free. Oh, yes, and since I'm now apparently allowed to reference books, in a book called Gotham Mafia, the ones who didn't respond calmly to insults and complained about discourteous accusations were the Scum who were panicking. What, so now I'm a cultist because I do not appreciate trash talk being flung my way? Besides, in my own opinion I remained reasonably calm throughout Hugh's slur-fest. My frustration rouse more from people twisting my words to suit their own suspicions.
Tamamono Posted January 15, 2012 Posted January 15, 2012 Hugh and Mehmet make some excellent points about Jennifer. Her crazy and illogical playing style is not helping us in the least. It's especially worrying to me how eager she is to lynch just about anybody. When Mehmet brought up Superman's idiotic mistake, Jen said this: Forgot to send a night action that can confirm a virgin? I call bs, let's nail the faux man of steel. God (in this case IMHOTEP) knows Father Tomato was lynched for much less than that.... Besides, even if Superman is telling the truth, we won't be losing much since he'll never remember to use the power he's been given. Why would she be so ready to lynch Superman after he had simply made a stupid mistake? If his night action really is that useful, then we definitely want to keep him around so that he can use it to help us. Yet she was ready to give up on the Man of Steel immediately. Frankly, she's a cultist or a dolt (or both). Or, like Fitzdef would say, scum or dumb... Congratulations, you just outed another Virgin. Well, that's exactly what the scum would want to claim if they were under suspicion, but I'd be a fool not to at least take your claim into consideration. But just ask yourselves, if I really was a cultist, would I be putting myself on the line, practically voting first on both days? By being vocal about things and making risky moves? No, I'd be lurking in the shadows along with the rest of the cult. This is only the second day of this ordeal and the cult is doing so well, so if I was a cultist I would've kept my mouth shut. This logic is so flawed it isn't even funny. First you're saying that scum wouldn't want to be vocal about things, yet you still think Mehmet is scum? In case you've forgotten, Mehmet has been by far the most vocal and active person in the game. So, by your logic, he must be town. But he's been investigated as scum, and you think he's scum. No offense, Ms. Taylor, but you are kind of notorious for having bad/crazy strategies (although it isn't like I'm much better in that respect. ), which is one of the main things that's keeping me from voting you. All that BS about 'voting for the first person to get a vote' is exactly the kind of thing you would pull, so I'm a little more inclined to believe your claims. I don't know who to vote for. I don't feel comfortable voting for Mehmet. Jennifer's claimed virgin, so I don't think it would be a good idea to get rid of her until she's been confirmed either way by Good and Hard. Mellifluous has been hellbent on getting Good and Hard lynched despite the fact that he's claimed a very useful role, but I don't think she's scum either. I guess my main suspects (that have votes on them) are Ophelia and Maelana (or however you spell her name). The way Ophelia tried to keep the vote going on Fitzdef yesterday was pretty scummy, but it looked even worse when she unvoted quickly and switched her vote to Ms. Taylor. If Jennifer is scum (which could still very well be), then I think Ophelia is likely to be scum as well. And Maelana hasn't added anything useful at all this game, so she's basically useless. If she was scum, then it would make sense for her to keep her mouth shut like she's doing now, because I'm sure that we all remember her last incarnation. I don't know, I'm going to have to think about things a bit more before I cast my vote.
Brickdoctor Posted January 15, 2012 Posted January 15, 2012 What, so now I'm a cultist because I do not appreciate trash talk being flung my way? Besides, in my own opinion I remained reasonably calm throughout Hugh's slur-fest. My frustration rouse more from people twisting my words to suit their own suspicions. It's not incriminating evidence, (and it wasn't in Gotham Mafia - great book, by the way) I'm just mentioning it because no one else has and it's worth considering.
WhiteFang Posted January 15, 2012 Posted January 15, 2012 I still want to appeal to those who really are innocent: If you lynch me today, you will give the cultists a third virgin sacrifice, and let them be that much closer to winning. I would not be this desperate to survive if it wasn't for this fact. On the other hand, you will not learn anything new by lynching me, and tomorrow you will be even more confused as to who is speaking the truth and who isn't. Is that really a situation you want to be in? Do you guys even want the innocents to win? Despite of the fact that you also attempted to vote for me, but I have been reading back and forth on your claims. Since you are determined to put yourself on fighting grounds and hard to defend yourself, I think it is worth to note of your words especially when you are famous for the packing heat (aggressive) strategy in the day scene. From my understanding and the earlier claims and to others, please correct me if I am wrong because there are tons of reading that needs to be done for the past few pages and what I have typed here, might struck others as an attempt to defend you. To be honest, I got no idea at all and have we had any confirmations? I don't get the whole mirror business... Can someone explains in layman terms? I am pretty certain I had missed it somewhere. And, it appears that there are lots of stuff revolved around Mehmet and his allies last night with all of the night results. I supposed we should take a grain of salt and interpret it from our own angle and he got a long list too. I don't see a reason why he could make things up like that. Why should he? If so, then why there is no others claiming otherwise in public, like "hey this is my role and I didn't even speak with you in private, like that kind of show". I don't find anyone violently objects his findings too except that people thinking his list is fraud. At the same time, there are others who can feed him false info but it's up to him to filter it accordingly. Thanks to his charismatic leadership, I supposed? Regardless of which, he could be an easy target for conversion? But still, do you really think people in his allies list will let him be converted that easily? I don't know and no one knows for sure. If we starts doubting among ourselves, we are just easy targets for the cultists. Next, I have been hearing about virgins and innocents stuff like that in public and private. Can we have a confirmation on this aspect? Is this a known fact? Are we certain that virgins are absolute vanilla townie that got no night actions at all? Are we certain people who are innocents and also cultists have the night action ability? If so, it can be easy to start checking around. I will like to appeal to the tracker, peeping boy, or whoever have supportive roles to gather information to start watching those people who claims to be virgins to keep their hawk eye over them at night to make sure they stay still and remain still on random nights without alerting them, namely Patrick Fitzwilliam and Jennifer Taylor (if you still survive by the end of the day). From there, we can know for sure if their claims matches? We got one shot in the day and we got to make it worthwhile. I am still contemplating with my vote too and I will need to give more thoughts to it.

You might wish to keep this to yourself. To achieve your freedom from the curse of IMHOTEP, and thus escape the valley, you must eliminate all the Cultists.
Sandy Posted January 15, 2012 Posted January 15, 2012 Why would she be so ready to lynch Superman after he had simply made a stupid mistake? If his night action really is that useful, then we definitely want to keep him around so that he can use it to help us. Yet she was ready to give up on the Man of Steel immediately. Frankly, she's a cultist or a dolt (or both). Or, like Fitzdef would say, scum or dumb... Thanks, more insults my way is exactly what I need now. I'd understand the accusations for being a hypocrite IF Superman actually had a name. But no, he's just a nickname to an anonymous person. At the time I expressed my mistrust in someone who claims to have some important night action but forgets to send it in. At no point did I know who this Superman is or whether he actually exists or not, so you can't really accuse me for trying to get rid of him. You and I both know that Mehmet is a special case. He can get away with just about anything because he's proven to be a smart strategist and someone people trust without caution. I'm not that clever, as you guys repeatedly remind me. Do you really think I'm trying to mesmerize you with some sort of surreal scum tactic? Honestly? No offense, Ms. Taylor, but you are kind of notorious for having bad/crazy strategies Again with the "no offense, but you suck" -trashtalk. Do you guys really take that much joy in kicking people while they're down? Next, I have been hearing about virgins and innocents stuff like that in public and private. Can we have a confirmation on this aspect? Is this a known fact? Are we certain that virgins are absolute vanilla townie that got no night actions at all? Well, that's what Is and Ossie told us in the beginning of the day, weren't you listening? Only people who have had "activity in the night" (ie. sex) have night actions.
Eskallon Posted January 15, 2012 Posted January 15, 2012 I'd understand the accusations for being a hypocrite IF Superman actually had a name. But no, he's just a nickname to an anonymous person. At the time I expressed my mistrust in someone who claims to have some important night action but forgets to send it in. At no point did I know who this Superman is or whether he actually exists or not, so you can't really accuse me for trying to get rid of him. We all knew this: Has a verifiable strong role that can certainly come in handy. Waiting for verification. I wouldn't want the cultists to even know what this one does. Superman forgot to send his Night Action in. that is a cool action. I'm inclined to think it was stupidity. He/she apparently typed it out but didn't hit send or something. That is the basic facts which Mehmet had presented, that along with 10 others discussing it and voicing there opinion of one more chance. Then you suddenly jumped out and shouted about lynching this man. ------------------------------------ Now saying that, I am having some second thoughts but until anything bigger and better comes up, Sandy has my vote. We need concrete arguments, something that can drive us forward. Anything anyone?
Tamamono Posted January 15, 2012 Posted January 15, 2012 Thanks, more insults my way is exactly what I need now. I'm sorry, Jennifer. I really don't mean it that way, but how would you describe the way you're playing this game? Quite frankly, it's crazy. What kind of an idea is it to be voting for the first person who gets a vote!? A crazy one, that's what. Crazy doesn't automatically equal scum, so that's why I'm not voting for you right now (that and the fact that you claimed to be a virgin, and we do not want to let any more virgins get sacrificed). I suppose I was a bit over the top in calling you a dolt and dumb. I'm very sorry for that. I hope there are no hard feelings. I suppose that's a pretty good point. After all, if Mehmet is scum (which I don't think he is), Superman could very well be made up to fool everyone. Still, you could have at least given Superman the benefit of the doubt. If he's real, then he/she can be very useful to us. Why would we get rid of someone like that!? If Superman hadn't given Mehmet a good explanation behind the scenes, then I'll bet Mehmet would have brought him/her out in public and put him/her up as a suspect. Would you have voted for him/her, then? I think you probably would have.
Sandy Posted January 15, 2012 Posted January 15, 2012 We all knew this: That is the basic facts which Mehmet had presented, that along with 10 others discussing it and voicing there opinion of one more chance. Then you suddenly jumped out and shouted about lynching this man. We did not know anything, we just heard what Mehmet told us. I'm sorry but I can't be as trusting as you. I'm sorry, Jennifer. I really don't mean it that way, but how would you describe the way you're playing this game? Eccentric? Still, you could have at least given Superman the benefit of the doubt. If he's real, then he/she can be very useful to us. Why would we get rid of someone like that!? If Superman hadn't given Mehmet a good explanation behind the scenes, then I'll bet Mehmet would have brought him/her out in public and put him/her up as a suspect. Would you have voted for him/her, then? I think you probably would have. Yes, I probably would have voted for him in that case. But Superman's fate was in Mehmet's hands all that time, not mine. And even Mehmet says he doesn't know if Superman is lying or not. So of course Superman stank as a cultist to me, and felt like a viable option for a lynching. The nature of this game of life is that the crowd won't know the absolute truth about anyone until he or she is lynched. Now it boils down to who do you want to test out? It's evident that somebody needs to go into the "stone oven", but does it really have to be me, a virgin?
Tamamono Posted January 15, 2012 Posted January 15, 2012 Eccentric? I guess you could say that. Yes, I probably would have voted for him in that case. If Mehmet outed Superman's true identity, in public, and we lynched him/her, then we would get confirmation of whether he/she was lying or not. But what good would that do us then!? He/she would be dead, and unable to use his/her action anymore. "Well, Superman's dead now, and we've lost a very valuable action, but at least we know that he wasn't a dirty liar! " I don't know, maybe one of my biggest flaws is that I'm hesitant to lynch anybody who's roleclaimed because they might be useful.
Sandy Posted January 15, 2012 Posted January 15, 2012 So you're willing to kill off a power role just to see if they're lying or not!? I don't even know what that role is, since Mehmet won't tell us! He just said it was "cool" or something, and you are convinced that it must be something we can't live without. That's the biggest problem with someone holding all the cards, we can only choose from the options he gives us. Can't you guys see how twisted this situation is?
CorneliusMurdock Posted January 15, 2012 Posted January 15, 2012 In response to what you said earlier to me, Taylor, it would be easier for scum to claim virgin at this point than claim a night action. For one thing they can just sit back and say "Save Me!" and not have to make up a believable role that they would then have to fake. And there are the odds. There are probably far more virgins than power roles in this desert. The claim may or may not work for you this time. Day's not over yet. I'm leaving my vote where it is right now. I am not, however, overly confident in the vote and if there is a better lead shortly, I may yet change it.
CMP Posted January 15, 2012 Posted January 15, 2012 Ugh. Sorry everyone, I was gone most of yesterday and missed a good half of the day. Okay. Hugh stated his points against Jennifer, and she pretty much ignored it, up until she was called out on it several times, and decided to defend herself. I think I’m seeing the problem with this lynching so far. Claiming virgin basically makes it a stretch to lynch the one who does. Understandable, the last thing we want is to give the cultists their win faster. The issue is, all vanillas are virgins. So lynching is even more of a risk than ever. We can lynch a virgin, a townie role, or a cultist. Well, it’s not that easy, obviously. Lynching a cultist requires lots of evidence and such. Now, Jennifer’s defended herself. Not perfectly, I might add, but she’s defended herself. Thing is, I’m not convinced she’s a cultist. I’m convinced she’s just been….weird. So she claims virgin. I don’t have trouble believing it. Now, in most cases such as this, we have to take risks, and we’re often forced to vote. This is not one of those cases. Lynching, rather than in other books and such similar to this, will, 5/6 (I think the general ratio hovers around there) bring the cultists closer to victory. Yes, lynching vanilla townies ALWAYS brings the cultists closer to victory, but in this case, they’re worth even more, because given the rather specific win condition, I doubt they even need a majority. SO, virgins are worth twice as much as vanillas, and power roles, whilst not technically bringing the cultists to victory, are more uncommon, and when one is lynched, we lose one of the few advantages we have over the scum. My point is, lynching is far more dangerous than ever. Honestly? I’m not entirely sure I myself am going to vote today. If we’re not sure the lynchee is scum, I don’t think we should try it. We don’t have to find the best person for lynching and send them to the statue. So far today, I’ve seen many dumbs. But no scums. Call me lazy or unhelpful if you want, but this this obviously isn't the usual sort of sick game of life. The same old formula doesn't apply. Even a really stupid outspoken vanilla is now valuable, to both us and the scum. I realize this isn't going to help us win, not lynching unless we're sure - but it'll sure as hell slow down the cultists from winning. We've already lost two virgins, one by a nightkill and one by our own fault. I'm in no mood to double the scum's pace of winning. That's my reasoning for not voting today. If we don't find somebody good tomorrow, I'll likely refrain from doing so then as well. Still, given how far we've gotten already, I'm sure we'll have a good suspect by then.
Sandy Posted January 15, 2012 Posted January 15, 2012 Okay. Hugh stated his points against Jennifer, and she pretty much ignored it, up until she was called out on it several times, and decided to defend herself. That's not how it went down. First of all, I wasn't even around when Hugh first posted his "list of evidence", and by the time I returned and saw it, nine people had voted for me. That's when I started defending myself, right at the time when Hugh said "It seems Jennifer is listening in right now, I wonder what excuses she will make up then to combat my attack on her". He was hungry for my blood, for some reason. With an attitude like that, I felt like I was already being tied down and dragged towards the statue. What else could I have said or done but to reveal my virginity to the public and start defending myself? If I had been a normal vanilla townie, I would've settled for "you're making a mistake, but you'll see it tomorrow", but now the situation is different. If I'm convicted, the cultists will have gotten rid of a third virgin in a row - and apparently it's a chance people like Fitzpatrick and Mustafa are willing to take. I've fought now, and nobody can deny that. It seems less and less possible that Mehmet will be convicted instead of me, so I'm currently searching for other options to vote for - all the while not forgetting my reasons for voting Mehmet in the first place. If there's some other person that as many of us as it takes to convict could agree upon, I'd be relieved as heck. I just don't want to give the cultists the satisfaction of seeing me sacrificed.
JimBee Posted January 15, 2012 Posted January 15, 2012 Rather I will vote for someone who has done nothing of note other than agree with the crowd: Vote: Melaena Stools (CallMePieOrDie) I can go for that. Melaena has been at the top of my suspect list since Day 1. Besides the fact that she passively participates in what's going on around here (apparently I am guilty of that too ), there is one thing that caught my attention in particular. From Day 1: You're right, that's just silly. You should wait until at least 2 people put their votes on the same person. That makes it perfectly okay. There's no need to be such a hypocrite. Fitzy over there may be a bit squeaky on the hinges, but at least he knows who to scribble down in that little notebook of his. With a sarcastic tone, she simply assumes that I have the same strategy as Jennifer. Also notice the sudden trust in Patrick. On Day 1, we couldn't trust anyone more than another, so why this baseless, strong trust in Patrick? It makes no sense to me, and at this point I am thinking that regardless of Patrick's alliance, Malaena is sitting off to the side and fueling the fire that maybe she hoped would get Mehmet or someone else lynched. Nadir knew someone would say this. Nadir isn't being a hypocrite. At all. Just because we voted for the same person doesn't mean we voted for the same reasons. Jennifer was voting just for the sake of voting. She didn't seem to care who it was--she was willing to follow the vote on anyone. I actually had reasons. The difference is not in who, but in how. What makes you think he knows better than any of us who is innocent and who isn't? He even said himself that he didn't, so this sudden utmost faith in Patrick is really uncalled for in Nadir's opinion. Here's my reply, after which she hesitates (whispering to her Cultist buddies, perhaps?), and ultimately ignores. Seems like a scummy move to me. Well, I'm going to vote: Ophelia Balls (fhormess) for being...weird. That little voting rabble with Tousole and Jennifer was just plain dumb. And your explanation for it was....confusing. You said it may bring some information at a later date. Which I somehow doubt. As for the reasoning for voting Tousle himself...you do realize there have been 3 or 4 people who've essentially said the exact same thing as he did? I don't truly believe you to be a cultist. I honestly don't think anyone so far seems like a cultist. I know I'm wrong in that regard, so I'm just going to vote the dumbest player I've seen yet. You strike me as a person who will cost all of us the game later one, likely ending up in the middle of the cultists' palm. I intend to keep this place as scum AND dumb free as I can. So she ignores it, and finally makes this post. "I'm going to vote this person for her weirdness". Like I said on Day 1, the scum were probably splitting their votes so that when looking back at the voting patterns, we couldn't pick them out. This strategy would work particularly well in a situation such as this, where there is no majority needed, the person with the most votes is lynched. So, I will Unvote: Jennifer Taylor (Sandy) Vote: Melaena Stools (CallMePie) The reason I'm unvoting Jennifer is because her defense is solid. Particularly in her first posts, she outlines behavior that would not be that of a Cultist. I voted for her originally because it seemed like the best option at the time, and I didn't want to add to the confusion (of Jennifer, the cloak, etc.) by bringing up Melaena.
