Capn Frank Posted February 16, 2007 Posted February 16, 2007 Aredhel, That WIP is looking good *y* I'd like to build an islander land based MOC too. I actually like the not so clean white bricks on the pyramid :-) Looks more authentic. I'll keep this in mind when i start construction. I don't know if islanders would have walls. But then again i don't really know who the islanders are :-D Did you ever see islander type ppl with a walled village? I love all the skelies in the back of the pyramid. Gives it a dreary feel. Are these islanders cannibles? Quote
El Bucanero Posted February 16, 2007 Posted February 16, 2007 Looks very cool! I like the rounded walls, and the spikes on the gate. The statue's face(is it a face?) seems to be pointing to the wrong way to me... or is it supposed to be like this?? I also like the leaves on the palm trees. Have a nice day, Mr Tiber Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted February 16, 2007 Governor Posted February 16, 2007 This is going to become the mother of all Islander MOCs! I'm wondering why this Islander has a brown torso... What does the front look like? Quote
Aredhel Posted February 16, 2007 Author Posted February 16, 2007 The statue's face(is it a face?) seems to be pointing to the wrong way to me... or is it supposed to be like this?? Oh...yes, as you say it.. Did not see that before... it was not planned as a face. It's just a lookout tower... but as you mention it now... maybe I change some little detail... :-$ This is going to become the mother of all Islander MOCs! What an honor :-$ I'm wondering why this Islander has a brown torso... Hehe... I did not have enough of the "real" Islander torsos....so I just used one which was ok for that... What does the front look like? When you watch at the following picture you can see the fig behind the palmtree... -Aredhel Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted February 16, 2007 Governor Posted February 16, 2007 For the Islander King and his queen (or whoever she is) are you using Indian heads from the Western sets? Quote
Aredhel Posted February 16, 2007 Author Posted February 16, 2007 For the Islander King and his queen (or whoever she is) are you using Indian heads from the Western sets? Yes... (these are all figs and bricks from Apo) Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted February 16, 2007 Governor Posted February 16, 2007 I've always wondering what the Indian mini-figure heads would look like with on Islanders, but since they've always been too expensive I've never bought any to try them out. I can't really see the face of king/chief but the woman does look more South American with that Indian head, so I think it works quite nicely. Quote
Aredhel Posted March 27, 2007 Author Posted March 27, 2007 Hello again- here is a little update again. Wanted to ask something. As somebody said, that the WIP-lookout tower looks like a totem, I turned around the top... so what do you think looks better? the first pic is the old one... the second the newer one. Comments are welcome! -Aredhel Quote
Eurobricks Emperor Bonaparte Posted March 28, 2007 Eurobricks Emperor Posted March 28, 2007 At first, I didn't understand what you meant with "I turned around the top". But now I think I see what you mean. I have no special preference for picture 1 or 2. The fact that the top of the watchtower is inaccessible for minifigs still suggests this is a totem (or religious building). But there's nothing wrong with that ;-) Quote
