UsernameMDM Posted February 16, 2012 Author Posted February 16, 2012 Round 1 vs Spiders: Tarn vs Spiders - Lightning Bomb Knifk vs Giant Spider - Shield De'kra vs Giant Spider - Special Damage Guts vs Giant Spider - Damage Dak vs Giant Spider - Special Damage Aberforth vs Giant Spider Miss What began with a good strategy ends with wounded heroes. Tarn throws his lightning bomb true and dissolves the spiderlings and singes the Giant Spider (-5). Knifk senses the rage of the chitinous giant, and raises his shield, ready to defend for the next round. De'kra tries to jump out and take the Giant Spider by surprise, but the venomous behemoth lashes out and coats the entire party with acidic venom, causing the entire party to be poisoned (-3)! Blinded by the spray, Guts is stabbed in the guts by the Giant Spider's forelimbs (-10). Dak repeats the mistake of Dek'ra, causing another blast of acidic venom that drops Guts into vomiting convulsions (-3). Swindle's uncourageous squeal causes his amethyst fueled blast to miss its intended mark. Dwellington Posted February 16, 2012 Posted February 16, 2012 OOC: If nobody objects, I think it'd be best if I use my Scroll of Sleep on the thing so that we can heal up a bit. Quote
Scubacarrot Posted February 16, 2012 Posted February 16, 2012 Ooc: You didnt state the special affected everyone. Quote
Rumble Strike Posted February 16, 2012 Posted February 16, 2012 OOC: Even if you send it to sleep, we are still poisoned. QM, as we got hit with 2 specials, do we all lose 2 health a turn? If that's the case, I will use some items to hopefully end the battle soonest Quote
Tanma Posted February 16, 2012 Posted February 16, 2012 OOC: Even if you send it to sleep, we are still poisoned. QM, as we got hit with 2 specials, do we all lose 2 health a turn? If that's the case, I will use some items to hopefully end the battle soonest OOC: I don't think effects stack, but I could be wrong IC: De'kra winced as the venom struck him, but relaxed after a tie. Sure fthe venom was poisoning him, but he wasn't mutating from it. Thank goodness they were only attacked by an eight legged spider, if it had had four legs things would be much worse. Regardless De'kra asked the leader, "How long you think fight will last? If long time, I will use venom. If short time I no use it." Either way De'kra will attack from the back row with his Prongcanis Dagger, hopefully frying that arthropod. Quote
Scubacarrot Posted February 16, 2012 Posted February 16, 2012 Ooc: Seeing as I am not supposed to be dead, and have 4 health left, I will attack. Guts charges again from the front row at the giant spider. Quote

Tanma Posted February 16, 2012 Posted February 16, 2012 IC: De'kra suddenly flips over the the front row, since the knight's Shield should protect him from harm, aside from the poison already in his system. Quote
Rumble Strike Posted February 16, 2012 Posted February 16, 2012 OOC: Scuba, the initial Spider post hasn't been edited, I guess we all just missed that particular part of the special. You are unlucky to take so much damage in one round, but you can't fight again. Tanma, I wouldn't bother with the Venom - coating your blade with it will cost you a turn for an extra 1 health lost on the spider, and right now we need to be doing as much damage as possible. Tarn looked around in shock. Once the bright flare of the bombs had cleared out the Spiderlings, the giant spider had rampaged through the party, KOing Guts and dropping everyone's health. At least they knew that Knifk's trusty shield would protect them from further harm this next attack. OOC: I suggest everyone attacks from the front row as we are protected. We need to end this quickly. If it all goes wrong we can send it to sleep next turn. Tarn used his Smelling Salts (allowing him to have two turns per round). He then used his Mead (doubling his power), which he kept in the hollow blade of his axe (meaning it did not take a turn to use the item). He then aimed a huge blow at the Giant Spider from the front row. Battle Order: Tarn - smelling salts/mead Tarn - attack Giant Spider from front row Knifk De'kra Dak Aberforth Quote
Scubacarrot Posted February 16, 2012 Posted February 16, 2012 The special says 3 damage, regardless of SP and poisoning of the party, not 3 damage to everyone. Quote

Darth Nihilus Posted February 16, 2012 Posted February 16, 2012 "Damn it!" Dak shouts as the poison sprays from the monster. "That's it!" Dak yanks the knife out of the ground where it landed when he flew backward from the attack, wiping the poison and dirt off of it. He repeats his previous attack, hoping to hit the beast this time. Bioniclover Posted February 16, 2012 Posted February 16, 2012 With his shield at the ready, Knifk twirls his saber and cautiously holds back as the others barrage the spider with attacks, which it deftly avoids. He winces as burning acid sprays onto his armor, sizzling against the cold metal, burning it's way closer to his skin. As the other heroes step back to regroup, Knifk nods at Tarn and leaps from the front row toward the giant spider. Quote
Dwellington Posted February 17, 2012 Posted February 17, 2012 Gasping for breath and terrified out of his wits, Swindle manages to magic the spider from the back row again. Quote
Rumble Strike Posted February 17, 2012 Posted February 17, 2012 Tarn looks over at the terrified Mage. "Mr Swindle, face your fears and attack from as close as you can get. Knifk will protect you from harm!" Quote
Dwellington Posted February 17, 2012 Posted February 17, 2012 OOC: Does placement really make a difference with magic? If I were hitting it with my torch I'd do it from the front, but I wouldn't consider that particularly effective... Encouraged by Tarn, Swindle moves forward to get a better shot at the Spider. Quote

He quickly consume the smelling salts and mead. However, his speed and power count for nothing and the Giant Spider leaps forward in an acidic venom spray twice. Knifk blocks with his shield and the other party members flail about missing their strikes as they successfully dodge the spider's fury. Tanma Posted February 17, 2012 Posted February 17, 2012 OOC: What...die...are...you using? IC: De'kra notices as time speeds up and down, throwing off their attacks. At points the spider was blur, at other times the group were almost frozen in time. Something was throwing off the speed of time, and it wasn't without precedent. De'kra had noticed this time anomaly before, like when a hero could stop and chat despite being in the middle of an attack. Something had made this delay unstable, but what? Either way De'kra flipped to the back row, and attacked the giant spider with his Prongcanis Dagger. "After battle new heroes and I need to rest," he commented, as time slowed once more, "new heroes and I took much damage." Quote
Rumble Strike Posted February 17, 2012 Posted February 17, 2012 Apologies, Dwellington. That was me thinking with my Barbarian head on. Of course it doesn't matter which row a Mage is on during a round. The further back the better! Tarn growled a long series of Titaanian curse words that his mentor Rystael would have been very shocked to hear. He could not believe how much his battle prowess had deserted him. He thought he was improving his tactics and skills, but each time he tried something new he was unrewarded. What was worse was the impact it was having on the rest of the party. If he couldn't hit anything, then he couldn't protect them. He looked around at the rest of the party, could almost see the spiders' deadly poison coursing through everyone's veins. Swindle looked dead on his feet, and the others almost as bad. "I think Mr Swindle should use the Scroll of Sleep on the spider, and the rest of us use potions, or we risk losing several of the party next round." Quote
Darth Nihilus Posted February 17, 2012 Posted February 17, 2012 "Thrice-damned spider!" Dak attacks from the back row. Quote

Might Element Manipulator not cast spell, I attack of back row as I had plan."
