Scubacarrot Posted March 27, 2012 Posted March 27, 2012 As Guts safely stored his share, and packed up his digging apparatus, he said: "I believe this is all, we have been through the whole mine, and taken care of everything here. I suggest we go back." Guts started walking towards the exit of the mine. Quote
Darth Nihilus Posted March 27, 2012 Posted March 27, 2012 Dak nods at Tarn as he accepts the gold, and then jogs to catch up with Guts, walking parallell with the older man, heading out of the mine. "One more quest underground, and I swear, I'm gonna kill the guide. I need fresh air, getting stuffy in here." He knocks on the wall, and rock dust flies, making him choke. "Gods, I haven't even been outside in ages. Next Quest, I'm gonna try to get into a forest, somewhere outside." Quote
Scubacarrot Posted March 27, 2012 Posted March 27, 2012 "Oh? Well, I've received... 'correspondence' that there are currently quest sign-ups going for trouble in a quarry." Guts reaches into his pockets, and pulls out a small tube made of wood, in it is a piece of paper. "The message is a bit vague, but it looks like it could be profitable." In his mind, Guts added: 'and far from the civilized world, and therefore, them.' The rogue pondered if he should once again change names. So far, he had remained mostly anonymous, and no one in Heroica knew his true identity. But if the earlier reports were accurate, and they had indeed made their way to Eubric, he could not be too safe. From a slightly worried state, Guts' face changed into the grinning kind, and said: "But if you rather want to spend time in a forest, be my guest." Quote

So far, he had remained mostly anonymous, and no one in Heroica knew his true identity. But if the earlier reports were accurate, and they had indeed made their way to Eubric, he could not be too safe. From a slightly worried state, Guts' face changed into the grinning kind, and said: "But if you rather want to spend time in a forest, be my guest." "What I would actually like is to find someone to teach me some Elven, I'm probably getting pretty rusty in the language of my kin. I haven't spoken my mother's language for so long, even though she made it a second language for me.... I wonder what she would say if she saw me now, playing the hero like she did." A shadow falls over Dak's face as he remembers better times, when his mother would teach him new words in Elven and how to be chivalrous and follow the knight's code of honor. Had he really fallen this far, strayed so far off the path his mother had guided him on? How could he make amends? He had stolen so much, yet gained so little, from the life of the Rogue. He remembered her words, so long ago: "If you ever stray off the path I've set for you, Dak, go to see a man I know in Eubric, by the name of Galdrian. He will show you the way. And remember, never stop doing good. Every kindness you perform will be repayed a thousandfold, remember that." What had he done to fall so far? What had happened, in that gap in his memory, that changed him forever, from what his mother had wanted him to be into.....this? He was no better than any of the people that had hurt him over the years. He was a thief now, yet he knew nothing about thievery. He was a Rogue with qualities that more befitted a Knight. He had to change. Guts, one of the best Rogues he knew, had spent time on the streets of Eubric. Dak had nowhere to go until the girl that had sent him letters, Alisha, got back to the Hall from whatever Quest she was on, so why not follow Guts' example and get some experience on the streets? He could try to find Galdrian at the same time, and it couldn't hurt to learn what the rest of the world besides Heroica was like. Quote

After a few lazy days of sailing, the heroes arrive back in Eurobric Freeport. "Let's be straightaway to the Councilor. I am sure he shall welcome your tell, and you shall welcome your reward." The Steward guides the heroes back to the Miner's Guild meeting hall. Once again, the twist through the clever maze and arrive in Durgon Silverpick's study. He is found pacing in front of a large fireplace. "Well met!" the dwarf says as amicably as his gravelly voice will allow. "How fared your task?" How would the party like to answer? Quote
Tanma Posted March 28, 2012 Posted March 28, 2012 IC: Seeing no one else stepping forward, De'kra clicked, "Group found crystal-like creature that eat ore in tunnels. Group figures that crystal entity main cause of disapperance of ore, since they eat it. Tarn has one crystal entity's remains, since group saw no others. If there were more crystal creatures, they hid too well to find. Aside from cystal eater, group also encountered a group of bandits, but they now dead. Only other entity that endanger minerals was an furry human who had signs of mild madness. He attack us, and sadly slain before group could learn anything from he. Tarn better at explain than I though, so might what I say confuse, he will make it clearer." Quote
Bioniclover Posted March 28, 2012 Posted March 28, 2012 (edited) Knifk, in surprisingly fluent Dwarvish, begins to explain what he learned from the Quest. "Our, how do you say, party discovered a large number of problems within your mine, from bandits to an enormous spider. He only thing we discovered within the mine that could have possibly caused the disturbance was, as my small companion detailed, a Crystal Gobbler, which we discovered consuming Garnet and gold in the mine. It is my personal belief that a larger colony of these beings is deeper within the mine, but we didn't find them within the bounds of the area open to us. However, an informant of ours we met in the mine gave us reason to believe there are more. I would recommend hiring a team of exterminators to remove the Goblers, the one we encountered was more of a nuisance than a threat and a group of Heroes or other sell swords could most likely accomplish the job." Seeing the others giving him odd looks, Knifk ruined to them and whispered,"Knifk lived in Baltarok near volcano. Many gems near volcano, many dwarves pass by. Knifk picked up some Dwarvish and is more proficient with Dwarf than Common. Besides, Is polite to converse in the tongue of the host." Edited March 28, 2012 by Bioniclover Quote
Scubacarrot Posted March 28, 2012 Posted March 28, 2012 "I suggest we move on to the important bits. If I remember correctly, Mr Silverpick, you mentioned an extra reward if we did well? We have explored your entire mine, every tunnel, every corner. And we have dealt with any threat we could find, so how about it?" Quote
Rumble Strike Posted March 28, 2012 Posted March 28, 2012 Tarn listened as the small Rogue, Dek'ra, attempted to let the Dwarf know what had transpired down the mine. He then stood and waited as Knifk revealed a surprising talent at Dwarvish language. Tarn bowed low before the Elder Councillor and deposited onto the desk the crystalline shards that he had collected from the Crystal Gobbler, oblivious to the mess he had made. "I believe my esteemed colleagues have told you all we can, but if there is anything else you need to know, Elder Councillor, plaese ask." Quote
UsernameMDM Posted March 31, 2012 Author Posted March 31, 2012 Durgon stood blank faced for what seemed ages, staring the crystal shards in this hands. "Ahem, Councilor?" "Wha..oh, yes, yes," Durgon said as he cleared his throat. "Crazed prospector you say? Giant spiders and such? Hmmm, amazing what finds its way in cleared out mines. Good job on the clearing the mines. These, ahrm, shards are nice as well. Seem to be good material. Yes, well then, Steward! Their reward please: 600 gold, 6 Writs of Blacksmith Service, 6 remedies, 6 potions and a bomb of choice for each hero. It seems that you left my mines still swarming with these things, so the extra consumables and bombs is my thanks for clearing out the places you explored. Looks like I may have to call another party in to investigate these matters further. You are dismissed." With that the Steward escorts the heroes back to the entrance. "Thank you my good gentlemen. It was a fine task you accomplished for the Miners' Guild. We do wish you good luck in all of your future endeavors." Party leader divide the spoilers. Players select which bomb you would like that is available in the Marketplace Quote
Scubacarrot Posted March 31, 2012 Posted March 31, 2012 Guts looked at the reward offered, it was not bad, all things considered. He had decided not to pressure the two men, he did not see the point. "Thank you, Mr Silverpick, Steward. I will take a Holy Bomb, if you have them. I advise you to employ new scouts, your scouting party did a terrible job. Goodbye." Quote
Rumble Strike Posted March 31, 2012 Posted March 31, 2012 "The Elder Councillor has been most gracious with his reward. And thank you for seeking out Heroica, Steward. I am pleased we were able to help." Tarn says. Tarn will split the reward into 6 equal shares, and request a Holy Bomb as well. Quote
Tanma Posted March 31, 2012 Posted March 31, 2012 IC: De'kra clicked, "I take ice bomb. Thank you for trade, though I worry group was overpay." As he clicks this De'kra dips his head in thanks to Tarn for the share. Quote
Darth Nihilus Posted March 31, 2012 Posted March 31, 2012 (edited) Dak nods at Tarn as the older man hands him his share of the loot, and then thinks over his answer for a long while before finally deciding on which type of bomb he will choose. "I will take a Lightning Bomb, if you don't mind terribly, Mr. Steward." Dak takes the bomb and puts it in his satchel, which quickly disappears under his robes again. He begins walking away, but stops as a sharp pain comes to his brow, causing him to clutch it for a moment before recovering his posture. "Uhhhh.....Head hurts. Need to get back to Hall," he mutters, stumbling away rather drunkenly. "Need...." What was it that he needed? Something.....something he had lost. Something.....or someone? The sheer effort on his part to remember was nearly enough to make him collapse, but all his efforts met with failure. There was something....like a wall, blocking his thoughts. "Damn......it," he says in a voice so weak it's almost a whisper. The rest of the few miutes he remains in consiousness are measured by the slow glimpses he has into the world. The walls.....spinning as he falls. The ground.....rising to meet him, like a welcoming bed. Then, the dirt alleyway.....hitting the side of his face. The only sounds he can hear are the deafening beat of his heart. Thump.Thump.Thump. Edited March 31, 2012 by Darth Nihilus Quote
Rumble Strike Posted April 1, 2012 Posted April 1, 2012 Tarn smiled at his companions warmly. Their quest had been successful, and he was going to hopefully see Ellaria soon. "Well done everyone, this was a team effort and we did everything asked of us." He was about to continue when Dak collapsed. He ran across to the young Rogue and cradled his unconscious form. "Dak, Dak, can you hear me?" Quote
Scubacarrot Posted April 1, 2012 Posted April 1, 2012 "Hmpf, something tells me he'll be fine. If that is all, I will be heading back to the hall." I assume we can leave? Quote
