Rumble Strike Posted January 28, 2012 Posted January 28, 2012 "By the Gods!", Tarn grabs hold of the torch-wielding Mage Swindle and manhandles him along the left path. Quote
Dwellington Posted January 28, 2012 Posted January 28, 2012 "My goodne--get your hands off of--well, I never!" Swindle flails helplessly for a bit, jumps away from Tarn, and adjusts his robes with an exasperated grunt. He then rolls up his sleeves and pushes the torch as far ahead of him as he can, carefully inching down the left path. Quote
Tanma Posted January 29, 2012 Posted January 29, 2012 IC: De'kra notices another message, even as he lurks in the shadows behind the group. The shade briefly checked the message, which consisted solely of; De'kra, you're a genius! I'll explain more later. Good luck on your Quest! The shade honestly wasn't sure how to reply to this, as he usually had a tendency to make bad theories and had been of almost no help in his last quest. It was...odd to be praised. Suddenly De'kra noticed that the others were getting ahead, so he quickly put the book back into his inventory, and resumed following the others, hidden by the shadows. Quote
Rumble Strike Posted January 29, 2012 Posted January 29, 2012 Tarn looked at the Mage and brushed down the older man. "Sorry Mr Swindle, but I had to make a decision and needed the torch to come with me. We weren't going to get far standing at the intersection and trying to listen out for things." Quote
UsernameMDM Posted January 30, 2012 Author Posted January 30, 2012 OOC - Looks like Brickshelf is down. Quote
Rumble Strike Posted January 31, 2012 Posted January 31, 2012 Tarn felt his mind wandering as he headed down the left hand path, with the Mage's torch offering light. He thought of Ellaria in his first Quest in the Burial chamber, her willingness to hold the torch when they were entering a dark place. He wondered how she was doing - their paths had not really crossed since the successful completion of that quest. If the Brickshelf issue is causing the delay, why not just give a description of what's down the left path and put the pictures in later? That's what Zepher does. Quote
Darth Nihilus Posted January 31, 2012 Posted January 31, 2012 Dak realized he was losing control of the situation at hand. Tarn was a better leader anyway, but Dak knew Guts, and if there was one thing Guts could sense, it was loss of control. So, Dak put on a brave face and continued down the passage, staying out of the light of the torch like De'kra. Maybe that would stop him from getting hit, should the others encounter a danger down the passage. Quote
Rumble Strike Posted January 31, 2012 Posted January 31, 2012 (edited) Tarn strode down the left passage, with Aberforth Swindle hurrying to keep up, then Knifk, and finally a motley procession of Rogues some way behind. He turned back to the others and said, "Come on, I know you are Rogues but you can't all hide at the back!" Edited January 31, 2012 by Rumble Strike Quote
Darth Nihilus Posted January 31, 2012 Posted January 31, 2012 "Hey, it's what we do best!" Dak called to Tarn. "We don't really like getting mauled by beasts like other people seem to!" Quote
Scubacarrot Posted January 31, 2012 Posted January 31, 2012 In the meantime, during the indecision on what way to go, Guts slept in his bedroll to restore health. Quote
Tanma Posted January 31, 2012 Posted January 31, 2012 OOC: as long as De'kra and Dak are hiding in the shadows behind the rest of the group, I suggest we call the Tarn and company Team Bait. IC: De'kra noticed that Dak was also sticking to the shadows, and was doing quite well despite his larger frame. As he followed after Tarn and the others, De'kra briefly wondered if Dak had as many feelings about lurking in darkness as De'kra. On one hand De'kra was fully aware of the usefulness of stealth, and in truth he enjoyed the feel of it. There was a mystery in darkness, what lay within and what it hid. Yet he also wanted transparency, to know what lurked within shadows rather than to appreciate their secrets. To know his past. But as strong as the desire to learn his past, to see that light, the urge to not actively search was it's equal. There was something, a block. Something that told him not to look, to let things lie. But the urge to not look was dying, if there was a quest to Xi or the Dastan Empire, De'kra would leap at it. Quote
Darth Nihilus Posted January 31, 2012 Posted January 31, 2012 "Oh come on, old man! You can't be worn out already! Come on, there's a drink waiting for you back at the Hall when we're through!" As Dak's hand slips into the torchlight while he waves it around at Guts, he notices something odd. He moves it back, and finds that the tip of one of his fingers has changed from unnaturally pale to an almost normal skin tone. He immediately reaches upward for his ears, and notices a small point beginning to form. The loss of his psychic powers appears to be altering his body as well. Perhaps his powers were what was holding the Elf and Human sides of him from showing up in his body, but now that the powers were gone, he was becoming almost normal again. Quote
Rumble Strike Posted January 31, 2012 Posted January 31, 2012 Tarn spoke cheerily to Dak, "Hey, If I'm gonna get attacked by something I'd rather face it head on, like that wolfhound from earlier that nearly got a nip in at me before we dispatched them. That seems like days ago now!" Quote
Scubacarrot Posted January 31, 2012 Posted January 31, 2012 "Oh come on, old man! You can't be worn out already! Come on, there's a drink waiting for you back at the Hall when we're through!" After his nap ( ), waken up from the words of the half-elf, Guts replied: "I have learned to rest when I can. What if the next room is filled with a hundred men, armed to the teeth, or a monster, like that lizard in the other place? We could be fighting for days, and we don't know when we will be able to get rest again. I grew up as an orphan on the streets of Strivvi, a place with more scum and lowlife than Eubric, and that is saying something. There I have learned that rest is precious, because on the streets of a city like that, you need to almost always be vigilant, if you want to survive." Thinking back to Strivvi, mixed emotions jumped into the foreground of Guts's mind, there was the disgust and hate for the place, but there were also the emotions related to the good memories from there. Finally, Guts added: "I could use a drink... I need to figure out an effective way to take wine with me, the next time we are out questing." Quote
Darth Nihilus Posted January 31, 2012 Posted January 31, 2012 "I could use a drink... I need to figure out an effective way to take wine with me, the next time we are out questing." "Maybe use a wineskin? " Quote
Scubacarrot Posted January 31, 2012 Posted January 31, 2012 "Maybe use a wineskin? " "Nah, kid, The bloody things are tiny, and are bound to get hit by a stray swordslash or an arrow. And wine is put in bottles for a reason, the taste. wineskins or sacks are bad for the wine, there is a reason I drink wine, you know." Quote
