Blakbird Posted January 20, 2012 Posted January 20, 2012 I think all we can deduce from this, is that I spend far too much time on the internet, and not enough time building!\ What does that say about me then? I researched them all on the Internet AND built them all. I am definitely some kind of freak. So what else is on the list to be added to the MOC hall of fame? You had to ask. Well, naturally Crowkillers' Vampire is coming up almost immediately. You can even see an open spot on my shelf for it. After that, I'm not 100% sure but I certainly want to build one or more of RoscoPC's F1 cars. I fear them though, because they are so good that I know as soon as I build the first one, I am going to have to build all of them. That's going to be very expensive, and you can clearly tell from the pictures that I have nowhere to put them. I would also love to build some of Jennifer Clark's other models if I had the data to do so. That's why I asked about how complete your CAD file of the Baldwin was! Ok, see... I think that I have an unfair advantage if I were to name them all. But truth be told... I don't actually know about that white/blue semi with the chrome stacks. I obviously know all the HAN's (5), The Grazi's (2), Barmans V8, The technomecha (Sell the white one?), JC's Excavator,The annihilator, Crowkillers cars, NK Cars...though I think there are some cars I don't know for sure who designed them. Yes, you have an advantage because I've given you a peek at my CAD directory before! I notice you don't seem to have Sheepos Bugatti or 911 (Hint/Nudge/Hint). I have two sets of 8448 wheels just waiting for Sheepos cars. I would absolutely LOVE to build Sheepo's cars. However, there is nowhere near enough information out there to replicate them, and I don't have any special access to more data. If only Sheepo were to mail them to me, I'd gladly build a CAD file of them! That being said, you also have quite a few B-Models on display. Combine Harvester, T-Rex/Helicopter,Submarine, both 8288 variations. You really did look closely. Yes, I have B models of some of my favorites. I also have the 8258 B model truck, but I parted out the trailer. I used to have a B model of 8285, but I later parted that out as well. I also had several copies of the Silver Champion including one as the B model race truck, but I used them to build NK's supercar. I also have the 8880 F1 car alternate. If you look VERY closely, you'll also see the tiny alternate of the 8259 mini bulldozer which is an excavator. There are also 2 8094 Control Center models, but only 1 controller. Quote
Jennifer Clark Posted January 20, 2012 Posted January 20, 2012 In terms of operation, it should be identical to the original. I have not modified any of the transmissions, I’ve just plugged the IR receivers in rather than the custom RC system you used. It works well so there was no need for any modification! Great! After publication, I made some subsequent modifications to the battery power on the crane carrier. The original had power coming from a single 9V PP3 type battery box, which I discovered was limited in the current it could provide. Using 6 AA batteries delivered more current, and consequently drove all the carrier functions, i.e. drive, steer, outriggers and slew faster and more powerfully. Several of my models could be powered by the standard 9V 6 AA battery box, but in the case of the crane and another, I could swap in a non-Lego battery box from Maplin that held 8 AA batteries. The advantage of this was that I could use 8 rechargeables, at 1.2V each, giving a 9.6V total. As well as saving money, because of the square law with motors and voltage, it gave a not bad wee kick of power too :-) Now if only I could figure out how you braced the gearing in the mini-excavator When I figure it out myself I'll let you know :-) Jennifer Jennifer: I tried to send a welcome back to you but the PM-message is not active yet (you need more posts). I just wanted to say it's a pleasure to see your name again! Thank you, good to see you here too. I've made several posts but they keep on being automatically put together into one :-) Jennifer Quote
nychase Posted February 10, 2012 Posted February 10, 2012 I would also love to build some of Jennifer Clark's other models if I had the data to do so. That's why I asked about how complete your CAD file of the Baldwin was! Soo...I guess I am gonna be "that guy" since this thread kinda died with unfinished business. Jennifer, if you are reading this...do happen to still have any more detailed CAD files of the Baldwin. I assume that it was part of your building process since Eric was able to rebuild the JCB using its CAD files. I ask, and annoy, because much like 8440 was Eric's draw back into lego, your crane was the single link I maintained through my dark ages and what was ultimately what brought me back. If not, how do you think the crane feels about overseas travel in the name of research? Richard, I think that you and Eric should organize a trade, JCB CAD for your more modern Baldwin CAD. Quote
Mats_o Posted January 5, 2013 Posted January 5, 2013 First a huge Welcome Jennifer. Your website got me back to building too. The red Crane and the AC50 got me into trying to build a Crane of my own. It should be a studded build and it should be smaller than 8221 in size but be able to outreach the 8221. It's way from finnished (the undercarrige is ugly) but a little teaser Quote
nychase Posted September 9, 2013 Posted September 9, 2013 BUMP! Who here thinks that its time for Eric to post some updated pictures?! I can think of many, many MOC's that he has built since the last time we were given a peek inside his room of wonders so I think its time for an update. Feel free to throw you support in the ring! Quote
legolijntje Posted September 9, 2013 Posted September 9, 2013 It would be very cool to see the whole (updated) collection. However, I don't think it will be very good for my health, because I will lose too much water Quote
Rishab N Posted September 9, 2013 Posted September 9, 2013 I have to see his updated collection Quote

Yes very nice to see his update collection. Based on your intrest in MOC no nice pictures of your collection Nychase Quote
nychase Posted September 9, 2013 Posted September 9, 2013 (edited) Yes very nice to see his update collection. Based on your intrest in MOC no nice pictures of your collection Nychase I was just chuckling that no-one ever bothers me... The truth is that most of my collection sits in boxes/bags. I live in NYC so space is somewhat of a premium. At the moment I have Han's Snowgroomer and 8421XXL at my office desk. I have NK's concept car, 8288 alternate, a mystery model (which I will reveal later), Barmans V8 in Yellow, 8420 and 8258 in my apartment. I rotate models around when I have time to build. My next project is going to be building two of Grazi's tow truck (one in white/one in black...I have the parts for both collected) and building 6x 5571's (one with a trailer) and 2x 5563. Combined with the MISB box versions I have of them (I had 2 of each but just sold one of the 5571's) I think it will make a great picture! My most recent project (the mystery model) I will be making a post about soon though! Edited September 9, 2013 by nychase Quote
Stunter Posted September 9, 2013 Posted September 9, 2013 Looking forward to see Grazi Tow truck in white. I have it in black really great model. Barmans V8 I have build it, if you like engineering really great model. Hoop to see the mystery model soon. Still like to see pictures of all your models ;) Quote
grum64 Posted September 9, 2013 Posted September 9, 2013 OMG! I've just seen the pics of Blackbirds collection. Oh how I'd love to own a collection like that. Oh how I'd hate to dust a collection like that! Quote
Blakbird Posted September 10, 2013 Posted September 10, 2013 OK, ok, I'll do my best. The problem is that my LEGO room is now so full that I can't step back more than 0.5 meters to take pictures, so it is virtually impossible to get good shots. I tried an experiment in which I took a separate picture of each shelf straight on and then tried to stitch them together (shown below), but it didn't work very well and it took forever, so I just took terrible pictures for the rest of the room. You can see them at my Bricksafe account. Quote
Rishab N Posted September 10, 2013 Posted September 10, 2013 Wow blakbird! Your collection never ceases to amaze. What is that car in the first column? Its the fifth one down Quote

nychase Posted September 10, 2013 Posted September 10, 2013 I was not prepared for just how incredible that collection has become. There are many, many additional models from the last update. so many infact that if you compare the previous pictures to now, he had to add those center bookcases for the middle of the room. My question is...what happens next? I would argue at some point that some of the official models can be taken apart especially those that have already been covered by Technicopedia. At some point the room will become one large room of MOC's. Of course, I could always take back RoscoPC's F1 cars and that would free-up quite a bit of space! But with Blakbird they are on display, with me they would be in boxes and that hardly feels right considering how incredible they are. In the spirit of the previous guessing game, can anyone name all of the new MOC's on display? Quote
legolijntje Posted September 10, 2013 Posted September 10, 2013 Well, Blakbird. That's a very very nice room It's exactly the type of collection I would like to have to: mainly techic, some architecture and modular and some big star wars throwed in too. Excellent! Btw, nice Technicopedia poster! Quote
Blakbird Posted September 10, 2013 Posted September 10, 2013 My question is...what happens next? I would argue at some point that some of the official models can be taken apart especially those that have already been covered by Technicopedia. At some point the room will become one large room of MOC's. My wife shares your question of "what happens next?'. I am not allowed to have my collection sprawl into the rest of the house, so that space is it and you can see that it is completely full. I formerly had all my Star Wars UCS on display and that has been put in storage with the exception of the Millenium Falcon. I have also not assembled the landmarks (Eiffel Tower, Taj Mahal, etc). That room is now strictly Technic. Unfortunately, if something has to be disassembled it will probably be MOCs. Even after I have written about something on Technicopedia, I still need the official models assembled so I can take the category pictures. For example, if a new crane comes out I need to take a picture of it with all the old cranes. I can imagine the Robo-Riders and similar models going into storage since I don't really like them anyway and there won't be any new ones coming out. Of course, I could always take back RoscoPC's F1 cars and that would free-up quite a bit of space! But with Blakbird they are on display, with me they would be in boxes and that hardly feels right considering how incredible they are. Sadly, those cars are probably on the chopping block. They are incredible, but they take up a tremendous amount of space and they don't actually belong to me, so if something has to go (back to Chase) it would probably be those. However, as you can see I added another whole shelf in the middle of the room to avoid taking them apart so they have a reprieve for now. I need a bigger house. My wife laughs at me because I am always thinking about it. Whenever we walk by a vacant office space or building for lease, I say "that would make a great LEGO room!". Quote
Blakbird Posted September 10, 2013 Posted September 10, 2013 Attic conversion Blakbird? Sadly, I do not have an attic. If I did, I would use it! 10 years ago I lived on 3 acres and I built a separate 24x24' building just for my LEGO collection. At that time I also had all the Space sets. But now I am on a small lot and cannot add a building, so I only have my house. In the spirit of the previous guessing game, can anyone name all of the new MOC's on display? From memory, here are all the MOCs in the room: 2Legoornot2Lego US Truck Brian Cooper Teknomecha Skyliner Lamborghini Countach Vector W8 Barman Avatar Scorpion V8 Engine BrickGun Desert Eagle MP5 Jennifer Clark JCB JS220 Excavator New Holland LS160 Skid Steer Loader Crowkillers Lamborghini Gallardo Lamborghini Murcielago Porsche 997 GT3 Vampire Deluxe Supercar 2 Dikkie Klijn Tow Truck XL Grazi Tow Truck Big Foot GuiliuG GG001 (Wheel Loader) Wheel Excavator (under construction) Designer Han Prinoth Leitwolf 10x4 Dump Truck Drawbar Trailer 6x6 Hauler 8x4 Truck Lowboy Trailer Jurgen Krooshoop Koenigsegg CCX Little Devil Sunbeam Zorex 220 Excavator Erik Leppen Bughatti 110 Pagani Zonda Madoca Supercar AWD Nico71 Wheel Loader Roadster CVT Truck (under construction) Nathanael Kuipers Concept Car Silver Supercar Pony Car Jeep Hurricane RoscoPC (models owned by NYChase) Brabham BT46B Brabham BT52 Ferrari 126C Ferrari 312T Lotus 43 Lotus 49B Lotus 79 McLaren MP4-4 Tyrrell P34 Eagle Westlake (under construction) D3K Swingloader (under construction) Sheepo Land Rover Defender 110 CP5670 Annihilator Jovel Black Dragon LPE Power Pneumatic V8 Lipko V12 Coupe Jack Streat Lee Enfield Jungle Carbine Quote

jadedomg Posted September 10, 2013 Posted September 10, 2013 I love your collection and the fact it keeps growing without you having to take apart all the great moc's you have built is amazing. I wish I had the money/capability to create such a collection. Quote
Blakbird Posted September 10, 2013 Posted September 10, 2013 I have Jurgens backhoe mark 2....you don't have that one? No I don't. It is on my long term list to build, but it is very expensive due to the number of PF components involved. Quote
