I don't know if there are coders with time / interest among the admins, but I would propose some extensions to the forum.

I think having a [set]3456[/set] tag would be nice. It could be expanded automatically into a a small box with to links to brickset, bricklink price guide or the proper lugnet entry, along with its name.

Another thing I think would be usefull to add some kind of poll/ranking system to threads in the MOC forum. This way, one could get feedback, lets say on scale from 0 to 10.

What do you think?

Well, of course everybody should be able to decide whether he/she/it wants to get the MOC ranked. I was just thinking that I like some of my MOC more than the others I did and I would like to see whether other people think the same way. Anyways, not a big deal.

What about the [set] tag ;-)

I HATE ranking systems !! Always had, always will :-|

People posting MOCs should do it only to SHARE and not to BRAG about them !! We are a friendly community and I want EB to remain fun and friendly !!

*yoda*

I'm against a ranking system here, too. There's sites like mocpages that have that.

The [set] tag sounds kinda interesting but I'm sure takes some "hacking into the core". Dunno if that'll be implemented any time soon (if at all)...

OK, I feel convinced that it is not necessarily a good idea to have that.

If you want to implement a rating system for your thread just create a poll with the options 1 to 10, but I'd recommend 1 to 5 with Eurobricks current population. Users wishing to participate could cast their vote, users NOT wishing to participate could ignore the poll and respond in the thread normally, or if they lack the ability to do that they could boycott the thread altogether.

Yeah, I'm against this idea too. I mean, you can see how popular a thread is just by the number of replies. TT is right, Lego is about fun, and even if the replies aren't there, it doesn't mean the model or topic isn't good. Also, numbers are nothing compared to comments from the people ;-).

However, a popular thread isn't necessarily a reflection of how good the MOC is, rather its thread recieving attention and these could be reasons other than its primary intent.

I agree that comments are better than numbers, however some may perfer a numerical representation of opinion because its a lot quicker to look at a rating than read through many responses.

Though, in my opinion, if you're not willing to take the time to read the responses you get, you shouldn't have posted your creation in the first place...
