I totally would buy whats left on the shelves. But I am between jobs and just paid my bills. I wanna grab a few hp sets before they're gone, but I also wanna grab the grand emporium before its discontinued. I only have so much money at the moment and I don't know where to put it! =/

The Grand Emporium will be around for at least one more year most probably. Fire Brigade is a year older and that hasn't been discontinued yet either. So in my opinion you can save that purchase for later.

Easy: FutureTron and BlackTron. I moved to Brazil right when they came out and by the time I returned I had little interest in Lego.

Blacktron I and Space Police I, I was also very young when these themes came out and I only got the SPI moon buggy and a Blacktron I minifig. I'm going to buy the SP-striker some day.

I regret not getting more of the Fantasy line, but that was when I was getting back into Lego after a long hiatus. The fantasy aspect, with dragons, orcs, and elves is what I missed about the Kingdoms line. I'm hoping that the new LOR sets add that dimension back into a Castle-themed line.

Chief want from that Fantasy line is the Troll Warship. That's a neat set.

Most of the Kingdoms line came and is now going without me investing too much into it. Which is a shame, given the second batch's (sp.?) civilian sets (blacksmith and windmill village) were awesome! I do not have any hopes of picking up any further stuff even though retailers are or have been phasing these out... money shortage for no win :-(( !

Also I regret not getting some Harry Potter sets, although only the 'figs and the new owls were and still are of any interest to me.

Be well!

I'm a late AFOL. I missed everything prior to the 90s. :sadnew: There's almost nothing I could've gotten than I regret didn't getting. Well, I wish I'd gotten more Adventurers, and I would kill to have gotten any of the Ninja sets. I also wish I'd read the Harry Potter books earlier, so perhaps my incessant childhood begging would've caved my parents into getting a Hogwarts or 4...

I would love to have 4 Hogwarts...

I don't know if I should be regretting getting any of the themes that came out during my dark ages, but I certainly regret not getting any of the divers and the early Star Wars sets that both came out as I was 10-12 years old and starting to get too old for Lego apart from an occasional Technic set. I remember really wanting to get the Podracer set with the money from my first job, but I just couldn't bring myself to buy such a childish toy, silly me! I also saw a few of the Legends sets during my Dark Ages and pondered to get some of them, but of course I missed them.

Lastly, Harry Potter from PoA to OotP are sets I'd really like to have, as well as some of the good City sets from 2007-2009, and of course the large scale buildings and Town Plan.

Many of the themes that came out before I first started getting LEGO (2007) I regret not getting, particularly the Life on Mars, Batman, and several others. I also never got any Indiana Jones, and very few Fantasy Castle sets. And I never got any Hero Factory sets (Not a big fan of the sets themselves, but I have seen some great uses of the new parts).

Not regret getting, but regret not keeping, namely 7782, 7783, 7884 and missing out on 7888. The first three Batman sets I got on clearance for a combined total of less than a $100. Unfortunately back then, I was with most other people in thinking the line wasn't popular or very good/interesting so I sold them shortly afterward for the same price. Instead of getting 7888 for $30 on clearance, I got the large Speed Racer set. :cry3::wall:

Those are my worst LEGO regrets, the only hope/chance I have is that LEGO gives us a fantastic TDKR set this summer to make up for it. :cry_happy:

I regret missing the first two Series of Collectible Minifigures, but what I really regret missing are Fright Knights and the Crownie sets and Kingdoms sets. I only got into medieval themes around the time I discovered the Heroica RPG a few months ago, and am sorely regretting not paying attention to it all these years. I really wish now I'd spent my money on those instead of BIONICLE--sure, I LOVED the storyline, and the sets weren't bad by any stretch of the imagination, but I just don't have the "eye" for MOCing with them the way so many other people do. I don't think I could ever bring myself to get rid of them, but deep down I have a sort of guilty pang whenever I see one of those canisters--"someone else could be doing amazing things with that, and instead you've got them in a box in your room, gathering dust." :cry_sad:

Hmm . . . a lot, actually.

Most recently would be the Fantasy Castle line. I was into Star Wars back then, little did I know how much I missed out on. The Crownie figs are of course, amazing, and then there are sets like the Knight's Catapult and Final Joust, which would've been awesome armybuilders at very low prices (10 and 8 USD, respectively), now go for around five times their original price on Ebay. :cry_sad:

But the one I really regret is not having been born 1.5 decades or so earlier for the launch of the LEGO Pirates line. So many great sets in just the first wave alone! :cry_happy: I've only managed to get the BSB and Imperial Trading Post so far, and, with so many awesome new themes that I want (LOTR, for example), I'm torn between capturing all these old sets before they disappear and getting the new products.

EDIT: forgot to mention the entire Classic Castle line.

I'll be honest. I spent a few minutes thinking about the sets I missed out on, but with the CMF the past two years and the quality of the new sets, I've realized I'm just happy to be an AFOL now.

When I first came out of my dark ages about 3/4 years ago, I wanted to buy all the Star Wars sets I missed, and I started paying big bucks for older sets, but the stuff they have been releasing now and re-releasing, it makes me not really miss the old stuff.

Same here. There are odd sets I miss not having, but not really entire themes. Pretty much just green grocer modular, emerald night, and then a few UCS SW sets (falcon, star destroyer and snow speeder).

Otherwise I'm massively happy with current sets. My younger self would have thought he'd died and gone to heaven to see sets like shuttle expedition and VW camper

I'm with Big Cam here. When I first came out of my Dark Ages, I spent a while(and a lot of money :sadnew:) on getting Forestmen and Ninja sets. Now that I look around on eBay and at Brickset and see all the old sets I used to have and would love to get, I just don't bite. I'm perfectly happy with what is available now and am just keeping up with what's out.

I'd love to have the old Space Police stuff, Black Falcons, a lot of City/Town. But that would take away from the great new stuff that's out there.

For me it's got to be fantasy castle. I came out of my dark ages as it was ending and I was a little put off by it at first glance. By the time I realized I wanted it the sets were all gone  I recently picked up the dwarf mine for about msrp along with several trolls and they're great! If only I had realized earlier!

The modular buildings. I missed cafe corner and have never really got round to buying one. They look amazing and that's my biggest regret.

I'm going to regret not buying PotC Whitecap bay and the HP Burrow when they do get discontinued... but hoping they'll turn up cheap at some point so I can get them! :cry_sad:

Avatar: The Last Airbender. I wasn't into the show when those sets first came out, and by the time I became a fan the sets were long gone. True, they weren't the best sets, but they were decent enough. And nowadays the figs alone can run you $30 a pop.

I pretty much agree with this. I don't miss the Model Team sets because Lego keeps releasing sets like the VW Van and Sopwith Camel, and its pretty easy to build them. I'm just as happy building a Cafe Corner as I would be to own the original. If there was a particular old fig I want, I just get it second hand, which is still cheaper than buying the set itself.

I didnt collect lego that much before 2010. Just a few sets here and there. I regret not getting the Avatar sets (for the minifigs), UCS Millenium Falcon, and the Modular Cafe Corner, Green Grocer and Marketplace.

Ummm, for me definitely the Harry Potter sets (cue: everyone groans) - But since I'm gay I wasn't to know I was going to be gaining a baby in 2010, so I've missed out on many sets and am only just now trying to buy up all the 2010-2011 waves of HP sets- only 4 more to go! Not including polybags of which I only have and only want one but need Quidditch, Hogwarts Express, Hagrid's Cabin and Hogwarts Castle... Pretty sure that's all I need. I got the Burrow as one of the first sets I bought and I'm really pleased with myself *pats self on back*

The 2010 HP sets are what brought me out of my Dark Ages. We got all of them for that Christmas. That Burrow is ama-zing! The figures are awesome. I do regret getting some of the Goblet of Fire/Phoenix sets, but oh well. I may try to pick up some of the figures, but they can be so pricey at times.

On another note, I do miss some of the Ninja sets from the late 90s. I was in my Dark Ages by 1996, so it was long before I ever knew those existed.

Well, I regrettably cut off all connections to Lego System from 2002 to 2006 to focus on Bionicle sets (then I entered my Dark Ages until earlier this year).

In that time, I missed countless themes that I look back and absolutely adore, most notably the Vikings and Exo Force themes.

I regret not getting more of the older Harry Potter stuff, Indiana Jones, the Green Grocer, a whole bunch of the older creator/designer sets and a bunch of City sets especially the police station with the light-up cop Minifig.
