Kronos Posted January 22, 2012 Posted January 22, 2012 (edited) I actually think that the Tan 20 tooth bevel gears mesh better together with the smaller black 12 tooth bevel gears than the 20 tooth black ones do... I know this doesn't quite make sense because they are the same, but you can try it out for yourself and decide... You can even hear a little more friction noise with the Black 20 tooth gears and black 12 tooth gears than you can with a Tan and black combo... I agree, Paul. There is less friction noise with the tan/black combo. Maybe the tan ones, in order to get the color correct, are a slightly different compound? Or maybe the tan color added MAKES them a slightly different compound? Or maybe... I have no idea what I'm talking about?...... Edited January 22, 2012 by camaro365 Quote
Tacker Posted January 22, 2012 Posted January 22, 2012 Seems strange to me that 9397 is in the shops now. But nothing about it on the Lego web site. I’d like to see the building instructions before i buy it. May be cheaper to buy the pieces i need to build it then buy the whole lot. Quote
merman Posted January 22, 2012 Posted January 22, 2012 hopefully the owner of the set can post some pictures and the long numbers on the back of the instructions soon... Quote
captainmib Posted January 22, 2012 Posted January 22, 2012 I thought this set was going to be a march release? Or was that just an assumption (because of 8070 last year...) That new piece seems really weird, i find the standard one already not really useful... Quote
Ramacco Posted January 22, 2012 Posted January 22, 2012 (edited) This is what I found: "I have been building the new 9397 set today I have seen there is a new part in it, it looks a lot like the 4143466 but with an extra axle hole at the top , the new part number is 4652234" Hopefully this can help you guys! Alasdair Ryan Posted January 22, 2012 Posted January 22, 2012 (edited) Some pic's Lots of mod's you could do to this one, very easy to motorize and i think you might have the room to make it pneumatic. Edited January 22, 2012 by Alasdair Ryan Quote

The Same exact thing happened last year with the 8070 supercar... It was supposed to be released in the same timeframe(Late Feb/Early March) and the same store "Argos" had some exclusive early release privileged and it was released there a month earlier than anywhere else including Lego's website... The set was finally available everywhere else the last week of February... Edited January 22, 2012 by Paul Boratko Quote
timslegos Posted January 22, 2012 Posted January 22, 2012 The set looks cool! Do you like it? What mods are you going to do? tim Quote
merman Posted January 22, 2012 Posted January 22, 2012 The set looks cool! Do you like it? What mods are you going to do? tim to be honest I still don't see the use of the new part as opposed to the similar old part... Quote
Alasdair Ryan Posted January 22, 2012 Posted January 22, 2012 The set looks cool! Do you like it? tim No i hate it. (expensive but worth it) What mods are you going to do? tim None at the minute. Quote
gmshades Posted January 22, 2012 Posted January 22, 2012 I'm jealous. I can't wait to get my hands on this set. I'm guessing around $130 us for it. I think it would be cool to find some toy logs that fit the scale of the truck. Buying extra brown wheels will be too costly. Quote

Traktor Posted January 22, 2012 Posted January 22, 2012 Don't these trucks use to have the crane on the back so they can load a trailer to? Quote
efferman Posted January 22, 2012 Posted January 22, 2012 you are right maybe it is a good idea to modify it to a tractor unit with semi trailer. maybe i will wide em up to 19 studs, give it my tandem axle, build a new crane,..... oops is there anything remaining from 9397? Quote

davidmull Posted January 22, 2012 Posted January 22, 2012 The cab ,you might be able to make a european cab. Not very impressed with this set, it looks much less complex than 8070 released last march, also that has to be the worst looking crane iv ever seen,oh and I won't mention them grey pneumatic wannabes :( Quote

From my experience I don't think its up to the task. Might be an idea to add a large one for main lift, and a small one for the bend and claw and test it out. Quote
DarkShadow73 Posted January 23, 2012 Posted January 23, 2012 Great that it is in the UK shops, but why hasn't it surfaced in the USA yet? This was the one I was looking for the most for 1H2012, anybody have any idea if its headed here anytime soon? Me and Camaro365 we're just discussing it. Quote
sama Posted January 23, 2012 Posted January 23, 2012 (edited) Wow, 60 geared wheels (including knobs and worms). That's a lot for a set this big. Oh, and Alasdair Ryan, does 9397 have a little engine fan? Because the inventory shows this piece. Plus, do you have any dimension for this set? Edited January 23, 2012 by sama Quote

Zerobricks Posted January 23, 2012 Posted January 23, 2012 Mechanics are very 8258-like, especially the core. I do like the way its all hidden though. Quote
