Posted January 22, 201213 yr Hey y'all! Here's a little something I wanted to share with you guys. It's a minifigure from my upcoming project to make the three Lord of the Rings movies as LEGO sets. Before you point out that LEGO is doing the same, I can assure you that it was my idea first! Literally days after I posted that topic, TLG had to come and swoop my thunder... Anywho, though, this is a very special figure. Took me a while (and some money) to get him together just the way I wanted. But here he is, the Big Bad himself: Sauron. (Flickr photostream for other previews and bigger pictures) The mace is courtesy of Brickforge. Decals are by me. The helmet is from here. Spraypaint is from... the hardware store? Hope you guys enjoyed! Stay tuned for more previews and the (hopefully!) upcoming revealing of my Fellowship of the Ring sets! Nuju
January 22, 201213 yr Aaron your work is getting better man. Keep it up and I look forward to more for this project. -Omi Edited January 22, 201213 yr by Omicron
January 22, 201213 yr Very nice, Woody Arms and Legs? I have used those in a project, recoloured of course
January 22, 201213 yr Great combo of customs and your own work. This looks fantastic, but maybe some more spike such as on the shoulders might finish his evil look. Great job
January 22, 201213 yr Author Aaron your work is getting better man. Keep it up and I look forward to more for this project. -Omi Thanks, Shilo! Means a lot coming from you. Very nice, Woody Arms and Legs? I have used those in a project, recoloured of course Indeed. I picked them up at Brickfair '11 for this exact reason... had to make him taller! Great combo of customs and your own work. This looks fantastic, but maybe some more spike such as on the shoulders might finish his evil look. Great job My skills with that kind of thing aren't really good enough to add spikes... besides, he's intended to be almost like a minifig TLG would have in one of their sets, so gluing and putty and the like isn't gonna happen. The figure has to be playable. Thanks for the feedback!
January 23, 201213 yr Fantastic work. Everything just seems to fit with this figure. My only gripe is that he's really brightly colored - I always thought Sauron looked a bit darker than that, perhaps a color similar to pearl dark gray.
January 23, 201213 yr Great fig! I love the helmet and the silver armor decals on the fig. A suggestion of mine would be to use a cape which is less wooly/furry.
January 23, 201213 yr This looks really good, you just need a nice custom Isildur to fight him . There's always going to figures that Lego will not get round to producing and although it's virtually impossible to guess what they'll be, I can't imagine them making a Sauron as he's really only seen in flashbacks in the movies. I suppose it will depend on what extent he appears in The Hobbit movies and whether his appearance is different. I look forward to seeing more of your LOTR project.
January 24, 201213 yr WOW, this is too good to be true! This MOC is better than original LEGO! Theirs photos of the original LEGO out?
January 24, 201213 yr Very nice work. A real finished and clean piece that most fall short of. The legs really interest me. Are those official Lego pieces or custom?
January 25, 201213 yr The legs really interest me. Are those official Lego pieces or custom? Lego. They were in the Toy Story sets. -Omi
January 28, 201213 yr Author Fantastic work. Everything just seems to fit with this figure. My only gripe is that he's really brightly colored - I always thought Sauron looked a bit darker than that, perhaps a color similar to pearl dark gray. True - however, finding dark pearl gray spraypaint would have been a real challenge. Metallic silver seemed more logical, since it perfectly matched an existing LEGO color. Great fig! I love the helmet and the silver armor decals on the fig. A suggestion of mine would be to use a cape which is less wooly/furry. The wooly/furry material is what I had to work with, really - it's sort of a thin, stretchy polyester material which I've used before for wings on dragons. Since I had to cut it myself, and didn't have any of TLG's cape material (If only!), that was what seemed the best option. It's too bad that the edges don't stay sharp, though, I agree. This looks really good, you just need a nice custom Isildur to fight him . If TLG made a LOTR-version Sauron I think I'd have to cry... I should hope that my Sauron, and a few other figures/sets, will be things that LEGO doesn't make, just so that my project has a little distinction.

January 28, 201213 yr I thought we already had info of Sauron being in one of the sets? The sets listed don't have Sauron. -Omi
February 3, 201213 yr Wow! What a great Sauron! Helmet, mace, everything! A worthy opponent for the new Fellowship minifigs!
February 3, 201213 yr This is an incredible costume Nuju Metru, I think the armour should be darker but the use of the longer legs and arms is great. How was the helmet made?
