Posted January 24, 201213 yr In case anyone hasn't seen the news, there's confirmation on Brickset that the 4x4 Rock Crawler will include two new motors for drive and a new servo motor for steering. Also news that the 9396 Helicopter isn't motorised (but can be, presumably with the standard PF pack) and that it does indeed include new parts to provide tilting rotors, which will be excellent for making more realistic helicopter MOCs.
January 24, 201213 yr the motors soundnice but I hope they keep the black orange color in the video and not the black white they mentioned in the story
January 24, 201213 yr This is AWESOME news. Relevant bit: However, more importantly it comes with new motors and a new servo motor. The two axles were driven by separate motors which were squarer than those we've seen before, although it was difficult to see their geometry exactly. The servo motor would have been used for the steering and it, too, was a different shape to current PF motors.
January 24, 201213 yr Does the 4x4 use the powerpuller/8466 wheels or smaller ones? Anyone know? There's no way it will use the Power Puller wheels. They will never make those again. I suspect it will use the wheels/tires from 8297.

January 24, 201213 yr wow that is exciting news! i am disappointed that two motors aren't used for separate steering. tim
January 25, 201213 yr I am 90% sure that it will use the 8297 wheels like eric mentioned. I called today to order some (for Han's 6x6) and they didn't have the tires at all. But then she said...well didn't say directly.. that I should call back soon because they might have a similar part out soon. To me...that means that the rock crawler will have them. And if you haven't noticed...lego does everything they can to use existing molds and interconnecting parts. Sticking with tires that fit on the 56x34 3 spoke rims (like they did with the Unimog) will likely be a longer term trend.
January 26, 201213 yr Hope they fixed the problem with old tyres, which were too plastic and the rim was able to slip inside the tyre...
January 26, 201213 yr I saw your trial truck tip videos, and was completely put off of using those tyres. Thank you very much for the information - i decided and got myself the power puller tyres instead :D
