...so, it would seem my info was false... no dark elf (Drow)type of creature, no wings, male vampire, not female, no fantasy creature, hmpf... exspt if faerie is with wings, tiara and dark skin :) and a lighting sword with bad attitude :)

What if they mis-interprete the evil female alien?

One of the translations = female vampire I believe, so I'm kind of wondering if "female vampire" is really the evil faerie chick. She does kind of sound vampire-ish (and looks so from Toth's sketches). Only time will tell...

In some languages, aren't multiple monsters described under one word? Couldn't it be possible that the Czech word could just mean monster in general, and it was only translated as vampire? I remember at the beginning of Dracula Van Helsing was talking about how the villagers were talking about a vampire, devil, or werewolf since the same word meant all three. This might be the case for this series and we're getting a different monster than a vampire.

no... it says in Czech quote:"vampýra" . Quiet understandable, even if one doesnt master the Czech language I think.. :sadnew:

I was thinking that the cheerleader might even be a male cheerleader not female. Someone gave me an idea that the trader might be some kind of fur trader from the old west days. Just a guess.

The translation = businessman, so I'm guessing suit and tie guy myself.

I'm hoping this is the case too, although it might be a stretch.

A male red cheerleader with a giant S. Go Spartans!

The more I think about this list, the more I get excited. I really want to see pictures of course, but I missed out on a lot of the earlier versions of the repeated titles, so we'll see how the newer ones stack up.

LEGO should come out with a "ZOMBIE" Collector's Set #13 for Halloween. They can create 16 of your favorite zombie characters!

That would be fantastic! But anyway, back on topic, I've been browsing this topic since the names were posted, and I figured I should post my thoughts on it. Honestly, I can't understand why so many people are having such strong dislike for the series. Admitedly, I was a little disappointed at first, but then I realized how high my expectations were (mostly from looking at Toth's designs and unrealistically thinking we'd get 10 castle/fantasy type figures in this series). But after I thought about it a bit, based on the list this series seems right on par with some of the recent series.

As for the people who say this is the worst series yet, first of all, we don't even have pictures yet except for the pirate, so you can't really judge it yet. In addition to that, in my opinion I don't think any series will be as bad as series 3 (only one great figure, with a couple halfway decent ones). Those of you who are complaining that it's 50% city figures, I did a quick check of previous series, and each one has about 7 to 9 city/town/contemporary figures. Even my two favorite series, 4 and 6, fit that average. So there's no real increase in the amount of contemporary figures, and therefore nothing to complain about there. As for those who are complaining that half of the figures are rehashes, only the skier and cheerleader are definitely rehashes. The conquistador and pirate don't count because we've never had them in the CMF theme until now. I don't even remember how long ago conquistadors were in LEGO sets. And the vampire is likely a female, so that doesn't count either. There's also a few good contenders for army builders as well.

With that, here's my take on each of the figures.

Ancient Thespis - Sounds cool. Will go well with the other Greek and Roman figures. Possible army builder.

Pirate Captain - The only figure we already have a picture of. Looks pretty good, different enough from other recent Captain figures to be worth getting a couple of.

Conquistador - Very promising. I can't wait to see what this looks like. Almost a definite army builder.

Enemy Robot - Curious to see what it looks like. I'm not a space fan necessarily, but the previous robots have been great and hopefully this one will be just as good if not better.

Evil Female Alien - Like with the robot, curious to see what it looks like. A female grey would look weird, since classical greys are genderless (or at least appear to be so). With a grey out of the question, it leaves some interesting possibilities, but I have no idea what it might look like. Hopefully good.

Diver - Seems to be a lot of dislike for this figure, but many people have been really wanting an "old school" type diver, and this quite possibly could be it. If not, it still has been seven series since the last diver, and if this one is contemporary, it should at least be better than the original (which wasn't too bad itself). As others have said, underwater themes are common with LEGO, so there are a lot of possibilities for what this guy could look like. At the very least, I expect new headgear.

Vampire - I was surprised to see this on the list with Monster Fighters currently being out. If it's another vampire that looks like Lord Vampyre or the S2 vampire, then I'm not that interested, but I don't think they would do that with Monster Fighters out at the time and Lord Vampyre being available in three sets. I sincerely hope it's NOT a Twilight-style vampire as some of you have suggested. I'd rather have a rerelease of the S2 vampire. It seems that there's a good chance that this will be a female vampire, and if so, there's a good chance it will look significantly different from the Vampire Bride in Monster Fighters, and hopefully there's a chance it will look like Toth's dark elf.

Fairy - Depending on how this one looks, it will probably be the main army builder for me. This seems to have been on a lot of people's wish lists and will probably be the highlight of the series for many of us.

Football Player - If it's American football, fantastic. We really need one of those. If it's another soccer player, than I'll be disappointed (but even if it is, that's still only three rehashes, assuming we get an old school diver and female vampire)

Trader - Sounds like this will be a contemporary businessman, although I do have an image in my head of an English guy with a bowler hat. That would make it much better.

Skier - It's been a while without a skier, and with rereleases of other sports figures, it's about time. Hopefully this one will be as good as the first, maybe with black clothes.

Red Cheerleader - Again, it's been a while without a cheerleader, and with all the various sports figures we've had in the CMF series since then, it's about time we get a new cheerleader. This figure was very popular the first time around, and I'm surprised so many people are disappointed by it this time. I'm only going to be getting one for my CMF collection because I don't have any use for extra cheeleaders, but I can't say I'm disappointed by its inclusion.

Santa Claus - It's about time! Another figure a lot of people don't like for some reason. But we've never had a decent Santa figure! We need one with the proper hat (not a pirate's bandana) and nice printing. I can't wait to see what he looks like!

Boy in Bavarian costume - Doesn't personally interest me that much, but I think a lot of people have been wanting something like this (just like the bagpiper).

DJ - This is probably going to be the "crash test dummy" or "fitness instructor" of the series for me, and the only one I'm not even a little excited about. But there's usually one or two of those every series, so I can't complain.

Cowgirl - It's about time we had a female counterpart to the series 1 cowboy. While I don't have use for these figures, it's good to see the Wild West subtheme continuing in the CMFs with something new.

I'll reserve my final judgement until the pictures come out, but a lot of the figs sound a bit vague, but some (Like the DJ, Thespis, vampire variation, captain, bavarian, etc.) sound interesting and I'm curious as to how they look.

Depends on who you ask. The posts on EB about the subject talk about the series lasting anywhere from at least 1 more series to upwards of 16 more series coming out.

At Bricks Cascade, a LEGO convention earlier this month in Oregon, it was confirmed by Kevin Hinkle that the Collectible Minifigures will be continuing for at least six more series, so that's probably the most up-to-date report on the theme's status.

Wow, just saw the list for Series 8! I must say I can't really make my opinion until we receive pictures. Hopefully they will come soon! The conquistador and football player sound good, as well as the Bavarian boy.

Has anyone went to google search images and put lego minifigures series 8? If you do it shows a page that has 8 figs a basketball player, a vampire female, knight crusader, imperial redcoat captain, and a four others. I think its fake but it looks pretty good whoever made it.

Yeah that's a custom, it's not real. I thought the same thing when I first saw it. Whoever made it did do a nice job of making it look realistic.

If you are referring to this picture, it was part of the 2010 portfolio that got Alexandre Boudon aka Toth his current job as a Lego designer. There's more of his designs on this Flickr page. Many of them have already seen life as CMFs or parts of Monster Fighters theme. Hopefully more will be done in the future. But no, that picture has no direct relation to Series 8.

Every time those pics come up I have to sit and admire/drool over them. It's amazing how many of those have been used so far. Imagine going to a company with ideas and having the majority of them used right away. I'll bet once he left his first interview the Lego interviewers giggled like little school girls.

This list has gotten a lot of attention, so I will share some thoughts with you.

About the translation. I tried to be as accurate as possible, and I think I was succesful. A lot of people were doubting and asking, and I was curious, too, so I decided to get more information from that seller who confirmed it's true. I sent her a message last night, and she replied that the list given by TLC was in Czech, without any photos, and they are expected to be delivered in mid-August. She also wrote that she will try to get some photos. Now something about hot topics.

no... it says in Czech quote:"vampýra" . Quiet understandable, even if one doesnt master the Czech language I think.. :sadnew:

You all who say that -a means female in Czech, you are right, but in case of Vampire this is something different. That word is in accusative and the suffix -a means inflection this time. And I would never translate "Female Vampire" as "Vampire". :sadnew: Nevertheless, I hope it was wrong translated before and it will actually be a female vampire.

I recommend you to read what Ardelon has written:

And now for some Czech:

The Czech version clearly says female. (The plural forms you mentioned were the result of some Czech inflection suffixes being the same as plural suffixes, and the poor translator didnt know which to choose!)

While you are generally correct, in this case the -a is an inflection suffix. The Czech version is masculine, but Im still hoping for a female (hopefully the Czech version mistakenly translated the neutral "vampire" (which could mean a female) into the masculine form).

Now about the Evil Female Alien. The original name consists of two words, because you can see the original word ends on -ka, and that means - female, of course. No Czech word for "female" is included and that's why it was translated as "Evil Alien". Again, I wouldn't do such a trivial error.

What if they mis-interprete the evil female alien?

Trader. Now this is a little tricky. The original word doesn't say much, it could mean merchant, bussinesman, peddler, market seller, even from any historical era. My personal tip is a contemporary peddler, but Victorian English gentleman in black bowler hat would be perfect, this minifigure is on my wanted list. I chose 'Trader' because it's as neutral as the original word. If I used 'Bussinesman' and it would be 'Merchant', you would propably be like "See? I told you."

No. The translations are often lame and sound weird (too long or too brief), but translate Monster as a Vampire? Nah.

I'm sure your translations are as well done as possible, however there is still a possibility that whoever in TLG originally converted it to Czech may well have been less precise.

Although one thought I had about that, what if they used the new bat-wing arms in black to create a suited vampire with his arms open. Now that would be sweet.

They are fantastic, especially in the example you give. A grandparent can't go wrong with it. It's a present that doesn't cost the world, just a litle treat

Yeah. That's actualy how I've gotten most of mine

I can't wait for the Pirate Captain and especially for the Conquistador (it could be so cool to have a Spanish army for my Pirates M.O.C. !)

Thanks for the post

The conquistador and the Football Player sound great to me. Does ancient thespis refer to a greek poet? :sceptic:

Trader is clearly a bussinesman.

I really hope for new Cellphone mold!

I was kind of hoping it would refer to a fur-trader. Oh well.

Diver - Seems to be a lot of dislike for this figure, but many people have been really wanting an "old school" type diver, and this quite possibly could be it. I hope this Diver is better than the one from series one, at any rate. Personnally I was a bit disappointed with that one - he was just too plain.

Of course, I'd love to see the pics - as it is, it doesn't seem to be quite as good, IMO, as series 7.

Hmm I honestly hope the supposed trader isn't a business man, more like a peddler or a sort of fur trader (like suggested above) Cause a business man sounds like a suit guy, and that sounds a little boring for a CMF (Even if he has new hair and stuff) IMO

I'm also hoping for a mythical fairy rather than a random colorful ballerina type fairy.
