Again I ask, you guys are kidding right? You saw the designs of rehashes and the reaction to them and yet still insist on a rehash of the most plentiful minifigure in the Lego universe besides policemen. I must ask the question again. Why? Before you answer i need to ask how many of the forest firemen sets did you buy? I think they should have a law to force folks who make these kinds of mindless suggestions to buy the unsold stocks rotting away on the shelves.

We haven't seen a good hazmat firefighter recently. For those who build rescue, this is a wanted figure. Metaphorically speaking! Just because there are Star Wars sets doesn't mean there's no need for specialized clones like the ones seen in the new battle pack

My original point was that I love the evil female alien, but minifigures like the new cheerleader (which is a step down from the previous one) aren't needed IMO.

This, in my opinion, is the worst series yet. :sadnew:

Anyone noticed how American CMF is? Hockey player, cowboy, native American, native American, cheerleader, cheerleader, cowgirl, American football player, daredevil (With his stars and stripes), baseball player... must I go on? To me the 'football' player is just a recolour of the hockey player, and the cheerleder also a relcolour.

I can't help but feel TLG is running ouy of ideas for these. :sceptic: That fairy- What?? And the black robot is just the S1 one crossed with the Space Bad Guy.

Still, I can't help but love the Conquistador, buisnessman and Shakespearian actor!

really the only things they have done that are specifically "American" subjects are this American Style Football player and the Old West themed ones (Which is one of their Evergreen themes, so it has gotten about the same attention as Medieval and Space) and maybe the Cheerleaders (which are probably more of a "recognizable pop culture" thing than a specifically American thing.) They have spread pretty broadly over common, North American and European themes and subjects. They probably could use a bit more Eastern world subjects. Or at least ones that aren't Martial Artists. (alright I'll give you Hippie and Hula Dancer may sort of track back to American subjects, but only in the broadest sense.) OK The Statue of Liberty one is American... but technically it was built by the French

And keep in mind the main driving force behind a figure choice is not where it comes from, but rather the ability to distill something down into a easily recognizable caricature in a small plastic figure, be its subject historical, fantasy, cultural, whatever. There are some American subjects that work extremely well for that , Old West being the most obvious. The narrower historical time period, mixed with the vast degree of pop culture exposure ala Hollywood over the years make it a perfect candidate. People know what Cowboys are supposed to look like. The same is true for many European subjects. "Romans", "Vikings" and "Knights" being the big ones. But the subtle variations of region and time spread over centuries can cause some problems with other less pop culture inundated ones.

The "Daredevil" was less an American thing as it is inspired by a specific individual. The 1970's Daredevil Evil Kenivel. Who was famous for his red white and blue outfits.

Really they do pull a very broad base. Where they choose any subject from is more based on it's level of overall worldwide recognize ability. In this case Cowboys are much the same as Samurai and Ninja's. (Which is why John Ford and Akira Kurosawa made very similar movies using them in the same roles). Cheerleaders because they have broad pop culture exposure (granted mainly in slasher films). It's really no more or less nor any better or worse than the "Detective" minifig in the Basil Rathbone Sherlock Holmes hat.

How do we know that the alien is female? Granted it has the slope brick base that some female mini-figs have, but it does not look particularly female, then again it is alien so who is to say what a male/female alien will look like? But does it actually say anywhere in any of the literature or publicity that this is supposed to be a female alien or are we just jumping to a conclusion given the sloped brick/legs? When I first saw it I assumed it was an Alien Conquest type/style alien commander/leader but in a robe type of outfit, it did not occur to me that it was female until I read some of the comments on here.

It's got lipstick on it.

Thanks to Bizzy's pics, I can say the Conquistador is a must have for me. I never got a gold Euro armour, either way the printed details are beautiful and very versatile. Cool head, too.

Really curious about the Evil Bot head (under the helmet), too..looks very cool.

I'm guessing the head looks very similar to the old robot's head. The golden armor surprised me, because I have always imagined and seen (in museums) that Spanish conquistador armor is silver; this gold armor, along with the plume, makes this conquistador look more like the leader of a whole bunch of conquistadors.

The picture again for people to see without having to go back a couple of pages.7561878800_25238e302d_o.jpg

I'm not that fond of the Conquistador, probably because there's a similar minifigure (The gold knight from Drawbridge defense) I do like his legs though :classic:

Thanks for the pics Bizzy! :sweet:

The actor and the cowgirl seem to be my favorite minifigs! They're both amazing. I also like the football player, too bad the fairy's skirt is green :sceptic:

Those photos from Bizzy78 make the Fairy look a lot better than it did previously. Now that I look at the original images, it was probably just the lighting that made the Fairy look so poor. It has suddenly become one of the figures in this series that I like better.

Evil robot looks way better without the bucket on his head. And I would have liked a trans light blue wand for the fairy. As for the cheerleader: her face looks much less stupid than Series 1's.

Actually, photos often make a lot of the minifigs look better. . . Although the DJ's face isn't quite as nice as I had originally thought, the cheerleader looks a lot better.

One good thing about S8 that I don't think has been mentioned thus far is that the minifigs should be easy to identify by feel. I reckon that there's at least one part in each one you'll be able to identify tactilely. Of course, it would be smashing if they re-introduced the unique bar-codes, but I don't see that happening.

As a collector of fantasy/historical minifigs, I rate this series fairly highly. The pteropine vampire, fairy, Shakespearean actor and conquistador I'll display as they are or with moderate modding, e.g. replacing the conquistador's morion with a musketeer's hat. I'm really pleased that I wont have to fork out a fortune for the MF man-bat. Other minifigs in the series including the Tyrolean, Father Christmas, alien queen and pirate captain I'll get for parts. The Tyrolean's torso will work well for Frodo for those like me who don't care for fleshy necklines.

Thanks for the pics Bizzy78 !

It helps a lot seeing each figure individually how it should be instead of the CGI manipulation. I like seeing figures with their legs bent and whatnot, but I know that isn't how the figure will look. So thank you.

After looking at the pictures, most of my army building has decreased since first looking at the initial pictures. I still think the conquistador is my army builder this series, but I will probably not buy as many of the others as I originally thought. I'm really excited for the bat in black. I still kind of want the MF brown version, but this one will make me happy also!

I'm going to keep looking at those pictures until my eyes dry out.

Meh , the Alien queen's head is not transparent. You have failed, LEGO.

The evil robot is so creepy without the helmet. That monster.

Fairy now looks good, for the collection it is better to have a ton of variety, and she does that job all right.

My favorites are absolutley Batboy, Evil Robot and Ancient Diver.

Of course Santa is really good in the details to but i don´t like Santa ha ha ha

Thanks for the pics Bizzy78.

So, The alien queen has a pink plate, not a purple tile. And her skull is not trans. Probably disappointing for some.

Cheerleaders expression does seem better (and she does have breasts...).

Diver, Thespian and Conquistador look stunning, and they solidify their place as my top 3.

The fairy still seems pretty lousy, though, and while the evil roobt looks interesting, im not too sold on it.

I do agree that the Ancient Diver is a good or decent minifigure, but the robot doesn't look to good to me. The batboy I am not too interested in, because I have the one from MF. I might be getting it though. Also, why don't you like Santa?

My top three in this series are probably going to be: conquistador, actor, and diver.

The most sought-after minifigure in this series might turn out to be the Actor, because of those fine parts and accessories.

These minfigs all look easy to identify, they have obvious parts: the diver's spear-gun and helmet, the alien's dress, the pirate's hat and legs, etc.

Thank you for the pics Bizzy, the cheerleader looks better now, and the conquistador went from good to excellent! It looks like his torso is blank, just like the previous series' knight :look: The pictures you found make the series looks so much better  Thanks again, this series looks so much better now that we can see them up close and at different angles.

Thank you for the photos, Bizzy. But I'm a little shocked you already have the minifigs - how did you get them? *huh*:oh:

And can you make some more photos, please? I'm curious about the trader's newspaper, DJ's records, double-sided heads (a few pages back someone says only Thespian has one, really?), back printings of torsos (again - is the diver only one who has it?) and legs and side printings.

NOOOOOOOOOO! LEGO, why have you messed up the coolest minifig ever? I mean, now I don't want any of this series. Least of all the one I thought was coolest, the "Female alien". Although the evil robot seems awesome.
