One factor that people should also take into account is that LEGO wants to get as much bang for their buck when creating new molds and pieces. Take the winged arms for the vampire bat, for example. There's pretty much no other use for them other than this sort of character, and by reusing it for a CMF they'll get a far greater income for that mold than if it had only been used for one character in one theme. Same thing goes with the Alien Conquest headpiece that they'll get a bit of extra mileage out of by reusing it for a CMF character. It's easy for us to sit and complain about things being reused and whatnot, but it's smart of LEGO and quite frankly a necessity for them to try and reuse molds.

With that in mind, I'm rooting for there to be a Zombie Cheerleader at some point. C'mon LEGO, reuse those pom-pom molds one more time!

I think that the manbat and the evil female alien would have made more sense as polybag sets for their respective themes. They feel a bit out of place and cheap in here because of their extremely strong connection to a still running theme. My other gripe (apart from the above and the very high number of rehashes) is that the use of so much gold limits the usefulness of some of the better figures in this series. I'd love to army build conquistadors. But probably won't, as an army in gold armour and helmets is just plain odd.

On the positive side the diver is excellent and the thespian is among the best collectible minifigures altogether. The ruff is an awesome addition. That little piece is the main redeeming factor of this otherwise disappointing series.

Enough people feel that recoloring of old minifigs is a bad thing so I will point out why I like it.

The Manbat comes in one other set, the most expansive monster fighter set. The alien came in one of the expensive sets as well. The cheerleader came in series one, and for people that don't have one will want to get it. Also, people who have both will have one cheerleading crew for each side of the game. The robot also came from an early series (one?) and many haven't gotten a chance to get one.

Edit: I do find it weird that they put minifigs from other themes in here though. But I do not mind because I did want some manbats.

Interestingly this series is reminding me of series 3, in that series 3 space alien was for me clearly TLC trying to refurbish SPIII alien heads just like the evil female alien seems to be a refurb of AQ alien heads.

And series 3 still had the novelty of collectible minifigures going for it, and no rehashes of previous series...

Knowing that series 3 was the least favorite in White Fang series 7 review poll it's no wonder to me we see so many disappointed comments since the list and now pictures finally surfaced.

Yeah, I realy don't think this Series is so bad. Sure, it's a step down from S7, but who was really expecting one that good right away again anyways? I'm not a big army builder either, so to me the number on the Football player is fine - sure you can't build a team, but it makes it more realistic.

I don't know what you mean by "serious," but this one is probably more realistic, in actually being a cowgirl. The S1 cowboy appears to me to be more of a gunslinger, a la Clint Eastwood's "Man With No Name," than a ranch hand or some such, and as such is probably more representative of a mythical conception of a cowboy (with a few historical precedents) than a likeness of actual working cowboys and cowgirls (for that matter, so is even Jessie). . .

Yeah. The S1 cowboy was more a counterpart to the bandit than anything else. . .

My brother has pointed out that the number 12 on the football player reminds him a certain player with that number, but I said that the colours don't exactly match. I wonder if this was deliberate from LEGO.

You are speaking of Tom Brady of the New England Patriots. I wish they would of taken the same route as the Series 4 hockey player and just put a logo on the front instead of a number. I am planning on getting multiple football players for a team and think it will look funny with a bunch of number 12's running around. I know I could modify it, but being a purist, I am against any alterations.

The S1 Cowboy and the matching S6 Bandit always remind me of the old "Johnny West" action figure line from Marx back in the 60's and 70's.

The Problem is don't most American type football teams have numbers chest and back? Team Logo's are on the helmet and shoulders. Logo on the chest is Hockey players.

That is correct, they have a number on the back and chest. For usability though, I would have preferred it to be a logo :)

Actually, I see all the CMF's more as individual minifigs than army - or in this case team - builders. So for me, a number is fine.

But it seems people are mad not that they are reusing pieces. They give us exactly same thing, just in diferent color.

The Manbat bricks cold be used to make a Kid that wears bat costume, and I think people would like it better because it would be not a exactly ripoff of the current series.

Wow! *oh2* And LEGO releases yet another great series.

My opinion on my must-haves:

Shakespeare- Beautiful the neck ruffle is a great new mold.

Alien Queen- Great, a female alien to go with my Alien Conquest figs. I wonder if this was an unused fig for Alien Conquest wave two.

Diver- Finally LEGO releases a bell diver. My favorite minifig in the whole series.

Vampire Bat- I for one am overjoyed that I now can get the new bat-molds without shelling out $100.

Pirate- Great addition to the Pirates II theme. A golden pegleg would have been nice to.

Conquistador- Love the reissue of the helmet. Not sure about the weapon choice though.

Santa- At last a proper Santa. No more Pirate Bandanna Santa for me.

Business man- Black bowler galore. I'm picking up multiples of him.

I agree. He looks a lot better than the old Santa. A bit thin, of course, but that was to be expected

Bizzy78, is there any way we can see the back side of the Cowgirl's hat? Also, are there any soft plastic pieces that we should watch out for as a feel guide?

Edit: I know I am asking for a lot, but can we see a picture of the Cheerleader without her pompoms? Thanks.

The prezel looks like it's the only peice that could be soft. Just going form looks - although the Conquistador's sword is flexible

Which one'd you get?

I didn't want to get random ones, I tried feeling the ones I want doubles of, unfortunately the store was already closing.

I got a skier, a cheerleader and a fairy. The fairy looks so much better than in the promo pic. I didn't like her colors but she's actually really cute and I love her wings.

The minifigs were not in a box, just hanging so it's hard to say about distribution but there were lots of American footballers, cheerleaders and conquistadors. I couldn't find the Santa Claus, the guy with the headphones or the man-bat.

I guess I'll be going back tomorrow for more...

I really like that they reused the manbat. I've very happy I will be able to get a few of them. Aside from a the monster figures I have no interest in the sets of the monster hunter themes at all.

I guess its time to finish up buying my series 7 duplicates before they disappear from all the lego stores.
