Piranha Posted February 28, 2012 Author Posted February 28, 2012 Toth's portfolio can be found here (look at the second half). Enjoy! That is a very interesting galley, many of those concepts have become actual CM's. I assume "Toth" is a TLG designer? Quote
1980-Something-Space-Guy Posted February 29, 2012 Posted February 29, 2012 (edited) Awesome! Hadn't seen that gallery! Ceasar! I'd also love that evil genie, Mr. Hyde, and that cowboy. The Einstein kind of fig would be a must! I have to add that I agree with the comments here regarding large figures. Toth's designs are more consistent with the minifigure, and I'd prefer Hulk to have a similar design, for instance. Let's hope CMF continues far beyond series 8. I'd like to see these and many other designs come to life. Edited February 29, 2012 by johnnyvgoode Quote

I'd like to see these and many other designs come to life. I don't really like the "megafigure design". The posture is too upright for my liking, which in my opinion limits its usefulness. For instance, I love Hulk's hunched-over posture, and think there would be a lot of similar cases where a "giant" figure would be better off as a custom mold, rather than as a one-size-fits-all figure design. Not to mention the fact that these sorts of figures are so few and far between that having them customizable wouldn't be worth limiting them to these proportions and poses. Also, Hulk has plenty of minifig stylings, from the cylindrical head to the squared-off feet; and the heads of these megafigures are too small for use on any but the most mindless brute. Quote
jonwil Posted February 29, 2012 Posted February 29, 2012 Figures from mythology would be great and just like other LEGO themes take inspiration from what kids see in movies and cartoons, the Mythology stuff could take inspiration from the stuff seen in things like Disney Hercules or Class Of The Titans (to name 2 kid-friendly shows that feature Greek mythology) Quote

I find it intriguing that many of the designs he used in his application ended up being used. No wonder he was hired! What a talented guy. I would really like some of those designs to come to life. Brickity Posted February 29, 2012 Posted February 29, 2012 Yeah time ago I saw a post from him, I don't know where, that he was hired by TLG and since then he hasn't posted anything else. Back on topic, I think we need some of his fantasy and fairy tale figs, as well as the historical ones (renaissance and such) Quote

kevin1990 Posted March 1, 2012 Posted March 1, 2012 (edited) Found this. maybe minifigs, or maybe not. http://i.pixs.ru/storage/9/4/5/Dev5Smallj_4363445_3893945.jpg Edited March 1, 2012 by kevin1990 Quote

I bet we will get all of those figures some day (except the drunk). We already are getting the Sea Monster and Dracula's Bride in Monster Fighters, and Sherlock came in Series 5. Quote
vexorian Posted March 1, 2012 Posted March 1, 2012 The lack of cape in CM5's Sherlock makes me sad. Quote
Pennas2000 Posted March 1, 2012 Posted March 1, 2012 The lack of cape in CM5's Sherlock makes me sad. The lack of cape on the roman centurion is also sad. Quote
rakky Posted March 1, 2012 Posted March 1, 2012 hes a legionnaire, not a centurion, I don;t think they always wore capes. I could be wrong though and it might depend on the historical era. Quote
Piranha Posted March 1, 2012 Author Posted March 1, 2012 Found this. maybe minifigs, or maybe not. http://i.pixs.ru/sto...445_3893945.jpg Those are cool, probably more of his concept work, I like the Crusader . The lack of cape in CM5's Sherlock makes me sad. This isn't a Series 5 discussion. Quote

SirSven7 Posted March 2, 2012 Posted March 2, 2012 I would love it if we got the crusader fig, sadly these are not real still toth's designs are cool Quote
1980-Something-Space-Guy Posted March 3, 2012 Posted March 3, 2012 I don't think that I would like to see a crusader, considering their bloody historical context. Still, we got a Roman legionnare, a Spartan, and a murmillo, but I somehow feel that this would be different. Although that could be just me. Seeing as we got pictures for series 5 on March last year, maybe we'll get pics for this series soon... Quote

Seeing as we got pictures for series 5 on March last year, maybe we'll get pics for this series soon... "Bloody historical context" has nothing to do with it. Crusaders, like the Roman and Spartan figs you mentioned, were soldiers. The more troubling figure is the gladiator who was basically an athlete in a bloodsport. What will keep LEGO from giving us a crusader minifig is the religious association, which is too bad because I would love to have a Knight Templar fig (not to mention an Asian Monk with bo staff). Lucanik-san Posted March 13, 2012 Posted March 13, 2012 Stopping with series 8 or 9 would not make a lot of sense... I'm kinda sure they'll continue at least until the 10th series. Quote
BrickBucket Posted March 14, 2012 Posted March 14, 2012 Stopping with series 8 or 9 would not make a lot of sense... It makes as much sense as Lego no longer wanting an excuse to print money. I think as long as these things rake it in, and they still seem to be doing so, we will keep getting them. And judging by how they renewed the star wars license for another 10 years, I think Lego likes to keep profitable themes going. Quote
vexorian Posted March 14, 2012 Posted March 14, 2012 Those are cool, probably more of his concept work, I like the Crusader . This isn't a Series 5 discussion. It still makes me sad. It is not like the discussion about not knowing what the minifigures in series 8 are, even though the market is already saturated with 6 and waiting to get saturated with 7 was a lot more interesting... WhiteFang has already issued a warning, this isn't a chat room. Further, posting a reply two weeks later is going off topic again. There is no new news on S8 therefore it doesn't need to be bumped until there is. I am going to keep this short and I will assume you (EB member) will understand it too... "Stay on topic" Thank you. Holmes Posted March 17, 2012 Posted March 17, 2012 Toth's portfolio can be found here (look at the second half). Enjoy! Oooh Have you all see the hypnotist at the front of the portfolio? I'm making a prediction that he will be in series 8 (or maybe that's just wishful thinking). Saw someone else talking about a pumpkin head minifig - I hope they make one of those too! Quote
Bounty Hunter Supreme Posted April 17, 2012 Posted April 17, 2012 This lack of news is so frustating! Why are TLG keeping this one under wraps so well? Quote
