fred67 Posted August 17, 2012 Posted August 17, 2012 I ordered a complete series this time. I'm a bit tired of scratches in the colour from rough "feeling" methods by others. Just did the same... although I may end up at the store for some extras of some figures, it just makes sense... One complete set for display. One complete set for posterity. The rest go to MOCs and my kids - which is why I often still need more. Ebay price is less than retail ($180), free shipping, no tax. It's hard to spend all that at once ($162.50, in this case), but it ends up being well worth it... Quote
KyleJohnson11 Posted August 17, 2012 Posted August 17, 2012 Darn. Do they happen to have a 10% off coupon also? I can't seem to get the link on the website to work. Not this week. From the 10th to the 15th they had a 15% coupon though. There was someone in my LUG that was able to take advantage of the 20%off plus 15% off... only $2.03 a figure! Quote
robotimms Posted August 17, 2012 Posted August 17, 2012 Picked up several series 8 figs at TRU this afternoon - Actor, Alien Queen, Conquistador, Deep-Sea Diver, Evil Robot, Man-Bat, Pirate, and Santa. Really love the Diver and the Actor, am very, very disappointed with the Robot. Print design on its body and face is very unimpressive. Was really looking foward to this fig, what a let-down. Quote

Where are the 20% off coupons located? Quote
mystery lego guy Posted August 18, 2012 Posted August 18, 2012 i just got back frow toysrus and got the alien queen, pretzel guy, fairy, cowgirl, downhill skier, actor, santa, and DJ. Since I got them my favorite has to be the actor. Quote
HawkLord Posted August 18, 2012 Posted August 18, 2012 Hit two Freddies today, one had them and one did not. The store that had them was loaded with 5-6 boxes of them. I'm not crazy about that method, because it means one dedicated person could come in and wipe out all of a givne figure - I guess it's a good thing this Series doesn't have a Spartan or something. I ended up with: Fairy x2 Alien Queen x2 Conquistador x3 Man-Bat x2 Pirate x3 Diver x1 I might just be done at this point, since the others don't interest me. Quote
ACPin Posted August 18, 2012 Posted August 18, 2012 Just missed the boat on three boxes at my local TRU. Only 16 packets left and none that interest me, should've gone there this morning when they opened. AC Quote

I'm going to hit up Bellingham Fred Meyers this week. Were there any sealed cases at your store? Quote
HawkLord Posted August 18, 2012 Posted August 18, 2012 I'm going to hit up Bellingham Fred Meyers this week. Were there any sealed cases at your store? Yes. They had one or two cases open and the other cases were still tape sealed behind them. If you manage to get further south, I can probably try to help you with any you're missing or looking for. Quote

Might try to pick one up if I getthe 20% off coupon. Quote

AncientDayz Posted August 18, 2012 Posted August 18, 2012 I am definitely jealous of all of you. I currently am not close to any Lego stores, and my TRU still has series 5, 6, and 7 on the shelves. I have a feeling that they will not be one of those stores to get any sets early (or soon). For some reason, they just don't sell that great in this area. In fact, some of the big box stores in the area limited their series 7 shipments because they still have 5 and 6 on the shelves as well. Quote

Does TRU discount the older series? You might try to buy some of the more popular 6 & 7 series and use them for trade fodder for series 8. I know its a bummer, as some areas can't get enough. Quote

I am in the mid-Atlantic states of the US in a semi-rural area right now (school). It surprises me because the employees at TRU say that these things sell great, but a few of the boxes have been sitting there for weeks (trust me - I check often). I can only guess that living in small town USA (I am originally from the big cities), the employees just don't realize how these things can really sell (or just don't pay attention to Lego). As to your other questions, I was thinking the same thing. The TRU has not discounted them yet, and I don't want to pay full price (even for selling or trading). However, if they ever do, I will definitely grab some to trade for series 8. Quote
ramjarjamjar Posted August 18, 2012 Posted August 18, 2012 The pirate captain really needs a pair of epaulettes. Quote
just2good Posted August 18, 2012 Posted August 18, 2012 (edited) I finally found 'em at Toys'R'Us (Coral Springs, FL)... And I got the Diver and the DJ! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ln40I_O4MB8 Edited August 19, 2012 by just2good Quote

That's one of the toughest things about CMF - since you can feel the bags, you can find the hot figures so easily. This means that after a store gets hit a few times all that's left are the least desirable figures. And I'm sure even parents or people buying them as gifts probably stop purchasing those if they notice that all they get are the same figures. I find TRU to hang onto product for a long time without ever clearancing it. TRUs here charge $3.19 for a CMF, while the Lego store, Target, and Walmart (all within five minutes of the TRU) charge the usual MSRP. I would recommend hunting elsewhere. Quote
Dervish Posted August 18, 2012 Posted August 18, 2012 Being lucky to have the similar opportunity (though i've used "feel method") i can confirm the distribution figures. As for "figures by rows" my box had completely different order. I think this is due to the fact local LEGO subsidiary is putting its own sticker on each individual package with some info in Russian. I think this is made manually and workers put the packages in ith box changing the initial order... The layout of the CMF in the case varies by the batch. The batch number is on the bag, near the dot codes on bottom, and on the bottom of the cardboard case. Quote

So MicroJow what batch number was your box? Hopefully all American boxes are the same. Edited August 18, 2012 by Legobrandon Quote
CM4Sci Posted August 18, 2012 Posted August 18, 2012 I finally found 'em at Toys'R'Us... Mine still doesn't have them. I'm possibly going to mine today to check. I don't want to call. And I got the Diver and the DJ! -Sci Quote

Legobrandon Posted August 19, 2012 Posted August 19, 2012 Wow... What a disappointment. Drove to Freddies and they didn't have them. Either the shipment is late or some reseller wiped them out. Quote

I think Freddies are about 50/50 right now. Without a major army-builder piece, I can't see these being flipper/scalper bait, though. Probably just didn't stock yet. Quote
