January 27, 201213 yr Nice pics in the review! Got mine over the weekend and I was very excited to build my new Stormies. I like the more detailed C3po now I've held it in my hand, so much more detail. $38 Aus is a little over priced but I couldn't wait to get this set. I love it! If you had waited a few days you could have got this 20% cheaper from Target , must agree the C3PO does look more impressive out of the box
January 28, 201213 yr Hmmmm... I wasn't even considering buying this set, as the sand troopers would not match any of my other Stormies, and I have tons of R2s and C3POs... I really like the new sand trooper print AND the shoulder epaulet. It looked like these just had one hole and would kind of hang off the shoulder, so I was going to just avoid the set, but they really do look great. I am also a sucker for the new C3P0. If he didn't have the eyes, I wouldn't care. I don't know how he'll work with my other 3-PO units though, so we'll see on that. I'll definitely have to pick up one of these at least. Thanks for the review!
February 14, 201213 yr Just got mine, and realized that C3PO, appropriately for this point in the film, is wearing his 'restraining bolt'. Wonder when they will release a no bolt variant...
February 14, 201213 yr Author Just got mine, and realized that C3PO, appropriately for this point in the film, is wearing his 'restraining bolt'. Wonder when they will release a no bolt variant... I didn't even notice that! But strictly speaking, C3PO gets the restraining bolt after being captured by the Jawas, so he should not be wearing one in the escape pod. Apart from that, the bolt seems to be on the wrong side of the torso, while we're nitpicking. Edited February 14, 201213 yr by Speedboat

February 15, 201213 yr Already got several multiples of this and noticed C3PO eyes are not always in the same place, got looking up-left, up-right and forward
February 15, 201213 yr Great review! The set itself looks pretty lame to me, but the figs are what this set is bought for. I don't like them very much,, but I can see people going crazy over them. And there is something about this new C-3PO that makes me dislike it very much. Probably it's because they changed a standard design of a protocol droid and because this 3PO can't stand next to K-3PO, R-3PO and the black one.
February 16, 201213 yr A great set too expensive for europeans : 20$ in America, 36$ in Europe So, another cool set I'll not buy because I'm bored of this price problem Lego doesn't care at all. It's even worse when we see the huge discounts in America and no or few discounts in Europe. I will probably significantly decrease my Lego spent this year. The situation is so ridiculous thtat it sometimes cost less importating sets from America (shipping included)than buying them in european stores A great review, though, detailed about this escape pod : this set is really better than the 2001 version, and get 2 sand-styled stormies in addition. A dewback would have completed it !
February 20, 201213 yr Finally, I got myself some of the new Sandtroopers I'm very pleased with the accurate torso- and legprinting. Compared e.g. to the plain standard clone (8014), this is a huge advantage I also find that they added some nice details that had skipped my attention so far, e.g. the metallic silver, very small printings on the backside of torso: Edited February 20, 201213 yr by Brickadeer

February 21, 201213 yr Nice review!, I am definately buying this set now after seeing those new sandtroopers.
February 22, 201213 yr Thanks for the review and the great pictures that show off the high quality of these minifigs.
February 22, 201213 yr I was really disappointed with C-3PO's eye printing on mine. The print is clearly below the molded 'eye socket' part of the head and covers the top of his cheeks, so it looks like he's looking up. I sent in an online request for a replacement head based on this yesterday. Has anyone tried this yet? I got the normal autoreply today. Every other part of this set is great though, especially the Sandtroopers. Edit: As an update, I did receive an email back, just requesting a proof of purchase number & they will send me a replacement head. Once again, TLG's customer service is wonderful. February 28, 201212 yr Thats really good to know, I was wondering what would happen if i ever order something that does not come complete.
January 1, 201411 yr Now, this would be a fairly good purchase if found cheap. In my opinion, one can never have too many astromechs and protocol droids, and one's stormtrooper ranks can always do with growth. The Flare-S swoop is a nice bonus. However, the sandtroopers' printed heads are very poorly done. The washed-out look is a result of printing flesh-tone faces onto black plastic. Since the helmets are not of the variety that removes the visor and relies on the head to supply the black lenses, there was no reason for these heads to be in black plastic instead of flesh-tone plastic. This would have avoided the washed-out appearance and made for a much better look under the helmet overall.
