Binkmeister Posted January 28, 2012 Posted January 28, 2012 Hi all, What type of LEGO Mindstorms competitions (not official challenges, but one-on-one types of things) do you like? What would you challenge a friend with? For example, everyone knows sumo types, but how else would you compete with a Mindstorms robot? Strength challenge? Speed? Obstacle course? Looking for any and all ideas. Thanks, Kelly Disclaimer: I'm the LEGO Mindstorms webmaster, and I'm doing a spot of research; suggestions here might or might not make it into anything official sometime in the future, yadda yadda, you know the disclaimer drill. I think the FLL and JRFLL like event are the best method of comparing the abilities of Mindstorm builders. Though they require quite a lot of effort. Therefore a simpler course could be a solution. DLuders Posted January 28, 2012 Posted January 28, 2012 Although it would be challenging, one could have a Lego Mindstorms Competition whereby one builds a Lego Technic Walker and programs it to "dance", like jyouhouya1's Omni Spider does in this YouTube video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6pzOQQzclno Quote
Binkmeister Posted January 30, 2012 Author Posted January 30, 2012 Good suggestions, thanks. I'd love to see a Battlebots style, although brick destruction is probably not good for repeat playability... ;) I'm also thinking things like: collect X objects fastest; stacking objects; line follower; obstacle course; stuff like that. Anything else spring to mind? Generic competition types of things... Thanks, Kelly Quote
