AlexScammer Posted January 30, 2012 Posted January 30, 2012 (edited) I went to LEGO store today with $40 dollars on me and I got a couple new sets. This is the first one! Here's some info. Theme: Creator Year released: 2012 Pieces: 152 Minifigs: 0 MSRP: $12.99 We'll start with the box. It's size is subnormal, not like usually. There wasn't too much Dutch air in there, and I am happy with it *a web picture of the box* *my pic* The back shows us all three models you can build having this set. Contents. So many!!! Both instruction booklets. First, primary model. The build It looks really nice The only thing that is needed to be fixed is the back. It's too thin. I will make it thicker later. You can open both of the doors. The possible owner Second model. The build The model itself It looks pretty ugly, I don't fix too much attention on it. The third model. I didn't even bother to build it because it is REALLY stupid. The construction of it is totally retarded. A pic of it on the box and the booklet, just in case. Overall Design 7/10 The first model is really cool and punky, but second and third, the "secondary" models are stupid and they bring the whole thing down. It's a Creator set for crying out loud. It should be even nicer design. Parts 10/10 Perfect choice of colors and parts. Looks really nice together. Figs 0/10 There are no figs in this set , however I am not going to include this rating in the finals. Build 9/10 Smart, but slow. Too many layers are added all the time. Playability 10/10 Obviously 10. I can sit with this car for hours Final score 36/40. A nice score, but this is a Creator set so I was waiting for more. P.S. Ask me for any more pictures, if needed. KimT Posted January 30, 2012 Posted January 30, 2012 The third model.I didn't even bother to build it because it is REALLY stupid. The construction of it is totally retarded. A pic of it on the box and the booklet, just in case. Then why bother making a review? Or why should we even read your review when you're "REALLY stupid" and not caring to do a full review? What's retarded about the build? I'm sure the instructions designer and set designer disagree with you, but please do share your thoughts on it, instead of a kiddish "retarded" comment. Quote
harakiri Posted January 30, 2012 Posted January 30, 2012 cool review. I actually like the Jeep better than the first model. Not sure about he third. But its not my favorite (that will forever be the red sports car) But its a good parts pack, so I am getting one as soon as A....zon is carrying it in my country (and if its price is down a bit) I guess the only creator kit I am looking forward to this year is the Helicopter Quote
JackJonespaw Posted January 30, 2012 Posted January 30, 2012 Good review. I like the first one best. I'm not so sure about the use of those Technic clear fang-like pieces. Quote
surrideo Posted January 30, 2012 Posted January 30, 2012 You so rarely see these sets "in the wild" in the UK outside of a lego store which is a shame. The primary model is a great build, with flaws but what Lego set doesn't. Not so keen on the second build and I know what the dictionary definition of retarded is but unfortunately it has a more recognised meaning these days and it isn't a term I like to see in a review. Not something I'll likely buy but the effort in showing the build progress I apprecite. Thanks. Also did you mean Danish air? Or are Creator sets made in the Netherlands? Don't confuse them, it's like calling everyone from the UK English Quote
Henchmen4Hire Posted January 31, 2012 Posted January 31, 2012 (edited) Yaaaay, an 8-wide car, that's nifty seeing that they used the same/a similar technique to what I do for the steering wheel in my 8-wide cars. I agree that the rear could use at least another plate of thickness sticking out The jeep is pretty nifty for the glass techniques, the last model is cool too, if only because it shows the variety of distinct vehicles you can get from the same pieces Edited January 31, 2012 by DrNightmare Quote
KyleJohnson11 Posted January 31, 2012 Posted January 31, 2012 My LUG recently drafted the set and it was great for parts! Quote
Arigomi Posted February 2, 2012 Posted February 2, 2012 The review was a bit harsh on the alternate builds. You have to adjust your expectations depending on the size of the set. For a set that is only $12.99 USD, I think it achieves what it sets out to do with the limited parts selection. This set doesn't have very many detailing elements such as tiles or slopes to further refine the look of the alternate models. The third build is for a vintage racing car and it does a fair job of capturing the feel of one. The design deserves some credit for breaking away from the predictable alternate builds. I would've been disappointed to see another Creator set use a formula one race car as an alternate build. Quote
