NotoriousPYG Posted January 30, 2012 Posted January 30, 2012 (edited) Hey Guys, Here are a couple of Hurricane tracking maps I designed for the Weather Research Center in Houston Texas to gets kids more interested in weather. The big one cost a fortune. This was my first mosaic, there is a lot I would do differently if I were to do it again. Live and learn. Here is the small scale map (my little hurricane symbol was later improved with a 2x2 flat black round): Here is the giant map (a work in progress with an apple for scale): The final Product!: Here are some smaller models I ordered as freebies for the kiddies. Cloudy (clear bricks support the cloud despite looking white): Hurricane: Snowflake: Sunny: Sunny with Cloudy Periods: Thunderstorm: Tornado: Wave: Edited April 29, 2012 by Rufus Indexed Quote
Cancerkitty Posted January 30, 2012 Posted January 30, 2012 Wow, this is really clever. Florida is impressively put together. Quote
JackJonespaw Posted January 30, 2012 Posted January 30, 2012 Very clever! I love the tornado symbol! Quote
woolie Posted January 30, 2012 Posted January 30, 2012 This is on Caroline, right? It's on the bike path to my office :) I've never been inside, but now I have a good reason. I really like your use of wedge pieces for the difficult angles of the Gulf Coast. Quote

Rufus Posted February 1, 2012 Posted February 1, 2012 Great, original idea! But I'm moving it to Special Themes... Quote
CMP Posted February 1, 2012 Posted February 1, 2012 Pfft. There's no need for a snowflake in this area... This is a great idea and fantastic execution. You captured Florida spot-on - most people just add a little blob in the corner and call it a state. Very nice hurricane symbol too. Quote
woolie Posted February 1, 2012 Posted February 1, 2012 Pfft. There's no need for a snowflake in this area... Well, sometimes it gets down into the 40s... Quote
CMP Posted February 1, 2012 Posted February 1, 2012 Well, sometimes it gets down into the 40s... In the dead of night in the winter. But never the 30s. Quote
