snefroe Posted October 14, 2006 Posted October 14, 2006 It started as a rumour not so long ago, but it's been confirmed now by ambassador Ben over at Classic Castle (isn't that hilarious? a castle dude confirming space sets? :-P ) ; Lego will release new sets of our beloved space theme in 2007!! No word on details/actual theme/... just yet. We'll get more news at one point though. We can only hope that the space ambassadors have had a serious input, then my guess is we'll be getting great stuff!! 8- Quote
EXO-CHAMP Posted October 14, 2006 Posted October 14, 2006 That's awesome. They should include my new design. The Blue Walker: ;-) Quote
Hobbes Posted October 14, 2006 Posted October 14, 2006 I like this news A LOT more than the extension of the SW license *sweet* That's awesome. They should include my new design. The Blue Walker: No offense, but as good as your model is it's too EXO-FORCE-ish. And we have that line already. I hope they stick to what they've released lately design-wise (Castle, City) because that had some "classic spirit" ;-) Quote
natelite Posted October 14, 2006 Posted October 14, 2006 lol...good news for snefroe....cant imagine who can be happier than you...lolololol .... i dont know about your suggestion, hobbes. sne will be devastated if space took the same approach as the latest castle legend 10176. :-P perhaps we can have a fusion of castle and space. call it space castle! ;-) Quote

It was just a little joke. :-) Quote
snefroe Posted October 14, 2006 Author Posted October 14, 2006 *sweet* *sweet* *sweet* however, for the moment, i'm gonna try not to have high expectations, like a fantastic space theme with all the quality and details the best star wars sets in a 'classic space spirit' with no lousy catapults and great printed parts and minifigs, not to mention a space ship that rivals 'Explorer's' reputation and popularity and a star base as brilliant as the Blacktron 1 'Message intercept Base'. *wub* nope, I'm not gonna think that... :-P Quote
xwingyoda Posted October 14, 2006 Posted October 14, 2006 I really hope for SPACE and not crap mechas and robots and all that crap nonsense (did I ever tell you I totally disliked mechas :-D :-P ) I also hope for not too classic space and for normal colours !! I also hope that they don't take Exo as an excuse to do a space theme approaching that or that will suck big time !! Just for fun, could this mean a new City Space ?? or just a brand new space theme ?? Ben's post was not that clear altogether !! Speculate ON !! *yoda* Quote
Cutty Posted October 14, 2006 Posted October 14, 2006 with no lousy catapults and great printed parts and minifigs If only! Yet I fear that launchers, catapults, shooting devices and other means of hurling small objects around will be ubiquitously scattered over each and every model this future line is about to render. I believe it's Lego really assured of kids wanting that kind of lametainment. Gah. I just hope for some cool useful parts in acceptable colours (NO YELLOW! Please!) Apart from all this painting-flowers-of-hope-black: GO SPACE! WEEH! Quote
Starwars4J Posted October 14, 2006 Posted October 14, 2006 This is fantastic news (er...I hope!). I fear a mix of Exo-Force and SW for this new "space" line, rather than a return to the ideas of the past, but I guess we'll see how it's executed... Quote
xwingyoda Posted October 14, 2006 Posted October 14, 2006 I too fear that Exo feel to it |-/ However, I feared that as well with the Aqua Raider line, and so far the pics have prove me dead wrong ;-) I would still prefer a city space theme but that will probably not be the case :-/ I am really anxious to see what direction this line will take ;-) *yoda* Quote
natelite Posted October 14, 2006 Posted October 14, 2006 Just for fun, could this mean a new City Space ?? or just a brand new space theme ?? Ben's post was not that clear altogether !! i can agree with that. *sweet* city space is a-okay in my books. would be fun to have a medical bay ship, a ship garage, a space police, a space port, etc. no fire space station to all you fire lovers though...in space there is no fire *wacko* :-D damnit...there better be aliens in space!!! i like to see a space tavern in the same capacity as the one we saw in star wars. :-P Quote
Brick Miner Posted October 14, 2006 Posted October 14, 2006 However, I feared that as well with the Aqua Raider line, and so far the pics have prove me dead wrong ;-)aquaraiders, city, and castle 10176 have all proved LEGO to be going in the right direction as of lately... with those trends in place, new space should be something you guys like farily well.one thing is for sure... this is the initial re-instalement of non-licensed space, it's succuss will determine anything else for the future... this is the space themes "make-it or break-it" year. lets hope for the best ;-) -------------------------------------------------- I would still prefer a city space theme but that will probably not be the case :-/by city/space do you mean a theme that is more focused on exploration and discovory, rather than battle ???EDIT: ah, natelite's response has cleared up this question a bit ;-) (however, we posted at the same time) - BrickMiner Quote

TLC has difficulties to do that ith city but hoepefully with space they will !! And what would be the best possible is if that line (or part of it) has a neon futuristic '50's look *wub* (like the Jetsons or Futurama ;-) ) New astraunauts and aliens !! One can dream !! *yoda* Quote
snefroe Posted October 14, 2006 Author Posted October 14, 2006 the ambassadors clearly stated it's Space, not city spaceport... 8-| i'm guessing we'll get some space ships and a space base, together with some monsters. it seems they're using the minifig-monster concept quite often these days, so why not? i just hope it's closer to space of the past than to exo force Quote
UltraPrime Posted October 14, 2006 Posted October 14, 2006 I'm sure I remember reading somewhere that part of the SW licence meant no other space sets. Am I imagining that? Quote
Starwars4J Posted October 14, 2006 Posted October 14, 2006 I'm sure I remember reading somewhere that part of the SW licence meant no other space sets. Am I imagining that? It was rumored, but remember that Life on Mars was around when the SW license started...and since they renewed the license, Lego might have added the stipulation that they can make more space lines. If they added that in, it would lead me to believe that Lego would give space a few tries, even if the first year was a flop Quote
Grrr Posted October 15, 2006 Posted October 15, 2006 This is great news; I too would prefer a town-space type implementation (think futuron, astoronauts with current level technology, but proper funding), little sciency bases and appropriate vechicles; not so much an emphasis on battle. I would definately prefer if it doesn't become to mech orientated either. Quote
Chuck Posted October 15, 2006 Posted October 15, 2006 Also, if you were at Brickfest, you will happen to know that the ambassadors had a hand in designing the sets themselves. -l2k- Quote
KimT Posted October 15, 2006 Posted October 15, 2006 Yessir! I can't wait to upgrade my Classic Space collection with new space sets. I don't think it'll be "exo-force like", that would conflict with the exo-force theme and be kinda stupid. Why make more Exo-Force sets, when TLC could make money on a slightly different theme? 2007 seems to be another great year that'll totally ruin me. I've just started buying most of the Classic Space sets that I need to complete my collection and this does not help me economically ;-) KimT [collecting Exo-Force, SW, X-Pods, Space 2007 and a bit of Western and Pirates *wacko* ] Quote
xwingyoda Posted October 15, 2006 Posted October 15, 2006 KimT [collecting Exo-Force, SW, X-Pods, Space 2007 and a bit of Western and Pirates *wacko* ] What ? No Aqua Raiders, Spongebob nor City in your collection :-D :-P *yoda* Quote
Zarkan Posted October 15, 2006 Posted October 15, 2006 *sigh* I hate it when people use other topics to bash Exo-force. It seems to be happening a lot around here these days.... But seriously, why make a second Exo-force theme if there's not need to? I highly doubt that it will be a rip off of a theme that, IMO, isn't as bad as some of you are making it out to be *coughyodacoughstarwars4jcough* No, TLC would never clone a theme like that when the first one is selling so well. No need to, and I don't think that's even on their mind. The new space will most likely have, well, space ships! You really can't label a theme space without a lot of spaceships, so why would they call it space if it was lots of mechs that looked very familiar? I see no proof that TLC would do that, considering all the set images that have been put out so far. I'm very hopefull for this new theme. ;-) Quote
