timslegos Posted June 26, 2012 Posted June 26, 2012 The power puller wheels look great. I sense that the cost for the wheels will skyrocket even more . tim Quote
S.I Posted June 26, 2012 Posted June 26, 2012 I would ecpect almost everybody who knows they exist already grabbed a set. Quote
Stevee Posted June 26, 2012 Posted June 26, 2012 (edited) "the mind" has made a simple test to find out which power the new L motor has. a liftarm is connected to the motor and press it on a weighing machine. the M has pressed 310g, the L 475g, and the XL 785g. so it seems that the L has roundabout 50% more power than the M motor and "the mind" says the L motor is slower than the M motor Hello guys, i´m also an user of the german Doktor Brick Forum like effe and and he told us you are wondering about the rpm of the new motor. So "the mind" and me decided to set up a "first responder team" to answer that question. The mind has got a L-motor, i´ve got a contactless tachometer. So on wendesday evening, i´m gonna travel to "the minds" place and we will check the rpm of all three motors under equal conditions. Had to remove links cuz it´s my first posting, but i´m pretty sure effe will deliver the links and pictures asap. Take care, stevee :) Edited June 26, 2012 by Stevee Quote
AVCampos Posted June 26, 2012 Posted June 26, 2012 edit: btw With those wheels, does the suspension still work completely, or do the tyres rub against the mudguards when the Crawler is pressed down? Quote

I'm wondering the same, come ON guys where's all the info were all getting impatient here, also iv heard no reports on how well does this crawler actually drive over or up obstacles! DLuders Posted June 26, 2012 Posted June 26, 2012 I've Power Pullers to try :) too big maybe but will look cool :) On this Doktor Brick Community post, "The Mind" posted this picture of the 9398 4x4 Crawler with (optional) Power Puller wheels & tires. He gave no indication about how the additional weight PERFORMED, however.... Quote
Stevee Posted June 26, 2012 Posted June 26, 2012 They have the set the last 2-3 days and still nothing :( 1am is only early :) Maybe tomorrow might bring better things :) I´m gonna ask the mind if we can do a little vid of the crawler while it´s driving when i visit him tomorrow to check the rpm of the L-motor and will post the question about the big tires at the doktor brick board - thats all i can do for now - sorry mate ;) Take care, stevee ;) Quote
DLuders Posted June 26, 2012 Posted June 26, 2012 @ Stevee: Yes, when you ask him about the video, please show the UNDERSIDE of the 4x4 Crawler while it is operating. There are no pictures of it upside-down yet. Could you also ask him to exchange the Power Functions RECEIVER that came with the 9498 set with an older PF Receiver, to be able to tell if there is any difference in the internal circuitry inside of it. The 9498's Parts List shows a different Lego Element ID than the existing PF Receivers. Thanks! Quote

I found a little Information about the receiver from Peters Crawler: When he build his crawler, he took an "old" receiver and it works too. But no detailled Info of the internal stuff, sorry. Da er gerade ausgepackt zur Hand war. davidmull Posted June 27, 2012 Posted June 27, 2012 I think lithium batteries will be great in this for excellent power all the time and also there very light. Iv a new set of AA s waiting :) Quote

bricky300 Posted June 27, 2012 Posted June 27, 2012 (edited) With those wheels, does the suspension still work completely, or do the tyres rub against the mudguards when the Crawler is pressed down? Even with the normal tires they rub against the mudgards,so they will definifly rub with PP-tires,but it looks awesome with the PP-tires. Wish I had some Edited June 27, 2012 by bricky300 Quote
davidmull Posted June 27, 2012 Posted June 27, 2012 Do you think the motors would run better if you had a separate battery box for each? tim Maybe it would but it would add more weight, lithiums work great I use them in 8043 and there's a big difference. Quote

efferman Posted June 27, 2012 Posted June 27, 2012 the Mind and stevee have done some rpm tests Quote
efferman Posted June 27, 2012 Posted June 27, 2012 Thanks for the speed info. Me = dissapointed same rpm with 50 percent more torque why you are dissapointed? Quote
Alasdair Ryan Posted June 27, 2012 Posted June 27, 2012 same rpm with 50 percent more torque why you are dissapointed? Because he is Alanp...........and english,us scot's never moan. Quote
Stevee Posted June 27, 2012 Posted June 27, 2012 Any updates stevee? :) So we did the speed test today, but for that The Mind had to disassemble his crawler. He´ll do the upside down vids and from the suspension with Power Puller Tires as soon as he rebuild it. I didn´t know he´s got only one set of the crawler tststs ;) Quote
allanp Posted June 27, 2012 Posted June 27, 2012 (edited) Way too slow. I've discussed this a little over a technicbricks so appologies if i'm beginning to bore anyone . If you have read technic bricks feel free to skip this post! In summary, right now we have a choice between a slow as hell motor with the gearing down done for you and an even slower motor with even more gearing down for you. I've been bored of that since 1997. The L motor now gives us more of the same regaurdless of torque. I was hoping for an ungeared motor, tho I guessed from the gearing of the crawler that it was gonna be yet another geared one. Don't care that it's space saving. Don't like that it's easier. I want speed and and noise!!! Sets like the bulldozer from 2007 and 8043 would have been far more interesting (to me at least) and epic if you had to do all that gearing down yourself. Sets like 8064 (with its awesome gear trains) would have been really boring with an m-motor. Gear trains consisting of a few dozen 16t gears are just really boring to me now. Better performance maybe, but if I wanted preassembled geartrains and great performance then I would would be far better off buying something not made by lego. Because he is Alanp...........and english,us scot's never moan. or spell names correctly Edited June 27, 2012 by allanp Quote
Alasdair Ryan Posted June 27, 2012 Posted June 27, 2012 (edited) I have a solution for you clown(allan)......... + = ungeared lego pf motor. Got the right spelling this time...... Edited June 27, 2012 by Alasdair Ryan Quote
