El Bucanero Posted October 20, 2006 Author Posted October 20, 2006 Tiber. I don't know if the quarterdeck is too high... Let's say the Constitution hasn't got a quarterdeck like this... I do wonder, the ladder is fine but a staircase would be more fitting? A staircase... the one-piece staircase would be to high, but I removed the quarterdeck so that doesn't really matter anymore... You can say, that I am building a red USS constitution.... Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted October 24, 2006 Governor Posted October 24, 2006 My quarterdeck, a bit too high isn't it.... I don't think the quarter deck is too high, in fact its not very high compared to the other LEGO ships, however you might want to do something about the gap beneath it. It doesn't look quite right, so either you make the deck high enough for a mini-figure to fit comfortably or fill it in. I see you've got cannon directly beneath it so you're probably not going to fill it in... Quote

Those gaps are also on real ships... But the quarter deck IS too high if I want to build an accurate model of the Acheron... Quote
Eurobricks Emperor Bonaparte Posted October 31, 2006 Eurobricks Emperor Posted October 31, 2006 Is it still possible to open parts of the ship to have access to cabin and the lowest gundeck? Quote
El Bucanero Posted November 2, 2006 Author Posted November 2, 2006 I tried to make something so I can have access to the gun deck and cabin, but that would get way too complex. Here's a teaser pic of my new stern: and the cabin: More pictures will be showed in the future thread: Progress of the Acheron part III Quote

However, is it not a problem that the guns on the gundeck go so far to the back of the ship? Will there still be enough space for your captains quaters or will he have to sleep with the rest of the officers? Quote

On real ships, the guns do go so far to the stern, There is supposed to be a wall from the second gun you can see in the cabin, It won't be a luxury cabin, but who cares... Quote

You are really looking at details Mr. Scotty :-). Nice to have you here. I was wondering if you are already working on the front of the Archeron. Personaly I find this one of the most difficult parts. Quote
El Bucanero Posted November 11, 2006 Author Posted November 11, 2006 Mr Scotty, you say it is an easy thing to fix, so please tell me how :-). Lord Bonaparte, the front IS a difficult part, I am also working on it... Quote

Lord Bonaparte, the front IS a difficult part, I am also working on it... Didn't realise till now how difficult it is to build a good looking front to a ship. Just build a first version for the Excalibur and it looks very very bad *wacko* . It will have to invest some serious time to get it right. Quote
