Paul Boratko Posted February 11, 2012 Posted February 11, 2012 Anyone ever use any Technic oriented parts for fixing broken things around the home or auto..? A few years ago I completely broke off the flimsy hinge in my Camaro's center console and rebuilt a really strong hinge with Technic parts... I am curious to see if anyone else has ever used Lego to fix their problems... Quote
dikkie klijn Posted February 11, 2012 Posted February 11, 2012 I'm using lego to keep the speaker wires of my stereo together and at a useful height (just meaning not on the ground ). Quote
timslegos Posted February 11, 2012 Posted February 11, 2012 (edited) Crowkillers(i mean you paul ) made a sturdy speaker stand for a speaker to go over the top of the tv: As for me personally, i have built a few ipod stands to hold my ipod up while watching videos. tim Edited February 11, 2012 by timr Quote
AndroTech Posted February 11, 2012 Posted February 11, 2012 I made an LCD projector stand, out of Lego Technic, so I could adjust the angle of projection. Quote

I actually forgot about doing that... I still have that center channel speaker too.... It's just in a different place now underneath a more "Modernized" television... Quote
timslegos Posted February 11, 2012 Posted February 11, 2012 Haha after writing the post and posting it, i was thinking "wait a minute, isnt that crowkillers himself (checking brickshelf) crap it is, now i got to change it" tim Quote
dr_spock Posted February 11, 2012 Posted February 11, 2012 iPad stand out of Technic and non-Technic pieces. Quote
KEvron Posted February 11, 2012 Posted February 11, 2012 not my video, and not technic, but: right up my alley! KEvron Quote
nychase Posted February 12, 2012 Posted February 12, 2012 Keeping in the A/V world theme... I most certainly have a pillar of bricks holding up the center of my way to heavy media shelf. Without it, the glass just bows way too much. The funny part was, when I was brainstorming on what to use to prop it up I was thinking..."I need something modular but vertically strong so I can get a really good fit...hmm...." I'm not proud of the 30 mins I wasted before even considering the plastic parts I have a whole room dedicated to. Quote
Tobbe Arnesson Posted February 13, 2012 Posted February 13, 2012 I built a holder for electric toothbrushes many a moon ago: http://lotekbricks.blogspot.com/2001/01/toothbrush-holder.html Quote
rumpletump Posted February 15, 2012 Posted February 15, 2012 I once tore the tendon in my finger. The doctor gave me a splint and I had to keep my finger from bending for a few weeks. The splint bent pretty soon, maybe after a week, so I strapped a Technic beam down the back of my finger. It was strong and light and it did the trick.. Quote
sama Posted February 15, 2012 Posted February 15, 2012 Hey, does anybody have shaky camera work? Quote
teflon Posted February 15, 2012 Posted February 15, 2012 Well, when our youngest was few months old, he enjoyed constant rocking in his crib. So I've build two simple tractors to hold the crib's wheels and to rock the thing up and down: It was RCX-guided so it could be driven around:-) Nevertheless, it worked and my wife was very pleased (from that time on I don't get any of those questions - is new box of lego really necessary??!!). I have also used technic bricks for mobiles (something to keep baby occupied when parents dozed off). Now I use it for playing with kids and a phone stand at work. Quote
timslegos Posted February 15, 2012 Posted February 15, 2012 That is brillient! (and a great way to win over the wife ) tim Quote
Paul Boratko Posted February 15, 2012 Author Posted February 15, 2012 Lots of really really cool stuff that you guys have done! I had a feeling some neat things would come out of this thread! Quote
le60head Posted February 17, 2012 Posted February 17, 2012 I just love this topic! I remember i made myself a fan out of a non-lego propeller, an old 9v motor ( the one with no gear reduction) and some technic beams. Id worked great, but the motor overheated. Now it makes a strange buzzing sound. If i find the photo i'll share it. Quote
