legolijntje Posted February 19, 2012 Posted February 19, 2012 (edited) Send it it me and i can do it with any sr3d. I tried it with sr3d, but it's still very difficult, because sr3d doesn't support such complicated movements (yet). Edited February 19, 2012 by legolijntje Quote
Alasdair Ryan Posted February 19, 2012 Posted February 19, 2012 (edited) I have made the two models Sheepo wanted and added stearing,a small bit of camber.not sure about the caster if Eric whould like to pm me i will send them to him ready for him to work his 'magic'. Sheepo Posted February 19, 2012 Posted February 19, 2012 Thanks to all for your interest and work . I am not very goob using CAD programs Along the next weeks I will add more than 30 new axles... and some others still under development  Quote
Meatman Posted February 19, 2012 Posted February 19, 2012 How is the stability with some of the axle components with the shocks absorbers set off to one side? Have you built all of these and tested them or are you just making them in CAD? Quote

Alasdair Ryan Posted February 19, 2012 Posted February 19, 2012 You should spread posting them out,one a day. Quote
Sheepo Posted February 19, 2012 Posted February 19, 2012 (edited) All MPS`s axles and chassis have been built with real parts and thoroughly tested. I don't have pictures of all them, but here some examples... The last one has not posted yet... Edited February 19, 2012 by Sheepo Quote
Blakbird Posted February 20, 2012 Posted February 20, 2012 Please, can you make a pair of renders with this configurations? F.BD.1.1 + C.A.1 + R.AD.1.1B and F.A.1 + C.A.1 + R.CD.1 Done! You can find them at my Brickshelf account along with renders of the rear suspensions that I've now added. Quote
DLuders Posted February 20, 2012 Author Posted February 20, 2012 @ Blakbird: Your renders make it easy to see how the MPS modules all fit together! Thanks for your work! Quote
Sheepo Posted February 20, 2012 Posted February 20, 2012 (edited) Blakbird thanks for the renders!!!! In the first one I can see until the sterring angle formed by the caster angle!!! With the first configuration you can build for example a Lambo Aventador And the pic posted by DLuders is an 5th gen. Ford Mustang  Also two more McPherson axles: http://www.sheepo.es/2012/02/mps-front-axles-iii-mcpherson-ii.html They are very similar to the previous axles, but with different steering configuration. Meatman Posted February 20, 2012 Posted February 20, 2012 Sheepo, are you planning on incorporating any modular Gearboxes in the future? Also are there any platforms that you are going to build a new car off of? And what would you say is your favorite modular suspension/chassis combo? Quote
DLuders Posted February 20, 2012 Author Posted February 20, 2012 (edited) @ Meatman: Sheepo has several gearboxes (with Building Instructions) on Sheepo's Garage Download page. On this post, Jurgen Krooshoop asked, "Can you tell me how to convert a SR3D file into an MLCad-file ? I didn't find an Export as .MPD file in SR3D. If I know how to convert the files, I can make MLCad instructions from your SR3D files for you if you like." To which Sheepo replied, "Hi Jurgen, thanks for your help!!! Convert it is very easy, you only need change the SR3D extension .L3B to .LDR, and you will can open it with MLcad and LDview ;)" The 5th-Generation Ford Mustang (mentioned by Sheepo above) looks like this -- the MPS is good for "pony cars" as well as Supercars: Edited February 20, 2012 by DLuders Quote
Meatman Posted February 20, 2012 Posted February 20, 2012 @Dluders Some of those gearboxes are almost the same size of this new scaled chassis though and I don't think they'll fit. He used those in his much larger cars. What I meant was is he going to do new scaled down versions. Quote
Alasdair Ryan Posted February 20, 2012 Posted February 20, 2012 (edited) Is it just me or does it seem that Dluders has had a kick up the bum from someone? Edited February 20, 2012 by Alasdair Ryan Quote
Sheepo Posted February 20, 2012 Posted February 20, 2012 Yes, I have plans to make some gearboxes, but this is very difficult, and now I don't have much time... I don't have intentions tu build any car using this platform, because right now I have 5 big mocs not finished yet... all of them started before this MPS... My favourite combination with axles posted is the pic posted by Blakbird: F.BD.1.1 + C.A.1 + R.AD.1.1B. Now I am working with multilink rear axles... when they are published the combo maybe changes... Quote
Surly Posted February 20, 2012 Posted February 20, 2012 My favourite combination with axles posted is the pic posted by Blakbird: F.BD.1.1 + C.A.1 + R.AD.1.1B. Now I am working with multilink rear axles... when they are published the combo maybe changes... This is a fantastic idea Sheepo. By multilink do you mean parallel four bar, triangulated four bar and three bar rear ends? I have been trying to draw a parallel four bar with panhard rod in LDD to match your specs. cheers Surly Quote
Sheepo Posted February 20, 2012 Posted February 20, 2012 When I said multilink, I said real multilink  Now I am testing some differents configurations with 4 and 5 links Quote
Kronos Posted February 21, 2012 Posted February 21, 2012 @ Sheepo. I don't know how to thank you for this invaluable system. I've been looking at, and building, all the supercar MOC's I could find from the amazing designers online. I wanted to build my own supercar for over a year now, but, as mentioned earlier, didn't know where to start. I was also very intimidated by the MOCs of Crowkillers, Jovel, Eric Leppen, and of course, yours, to name a few. This is just the push (help) I needed to start up. Thank you. @ Blakbird. Eric, you continue to amaze with your work. Thanks. @ All. Thank you to all the designer's, MOCer's, and technician's for your hard work and generosity. I hope one day I can contribute also. -Mike Quote
DLuders Posted February 21, 2012 Author Posted February 21, 2012 (edited) @ Sheepo: Do you work in an auto-related industry? How did you learn all about advanced steering and suspension geometry? Just curious.... Edited February 21, 2012 by DLuders Quote
Blakbird Posted February 21, 2012 Posted February 21, 2012 @ Sheepo: Do you work in an auto-related industry? How did you learn all about advanced steering and suspension geometry? Just curious.... Other than working in the auto industry, another way to learn all this stuff is to play with R/C cars and trucks. A few that I have owned have had all of these angles as well and have been adjustable. People who race them learn to adjust all the angles to maximize performance on whatever track surface they are using. I was never very good at it, but always fascinated with the concept. Quote
Sheepo Posted February 21, 2012 Posted February 21, 2012 @ Sheepo: Do you work in an auto-related industry? How did you learn all about advanced steering and suspension geometry? Just curious.... Unfortunately for me not ... I'm just an amateur mechanic with too much free time  , and I want to do things that nobody else does. Also, I want say that you have not seen more than 10% of what MPS will be in a few months... Quote
