DLuders Posted February 26, 2012 Author Posted February 26, 2012 Sheepo has added a "Double Wishbone II" front axle design to his Lego Technic Modular Platform System. "You can download all axles and chassis in only one link: Download ." Quote

skylinedan Posted March 9, 2012 Posted March 9, 2012 Other than working in the auto industry, another way to learn all this stuff is to play with R/C cars and trucks. A few that I have owned have had all of these angles as well and have been adjustable. People who race them learn to adjust all the angles to maximize performance on whatever track surface they are using. I was never very good at it, but always fascinated with the concept. I,m a automotive tec, I work in a body shop doing most of the mechanical repairs. One of my jobs is alignments and I can see a lot of good ideas here in reguards to the different systems. I can tell you on a lot of the new cars the systems are not unlike your models. This is very cool stuff. Dan Quote
legotechnicblue Posted March 28, 2013 Posted March 28, 2013 (edited) Can somebody give me more pictures and views of these so that I can build them for my supercar. My computer won't allow me to download SR3D Builder. I would specifically like the double wishbone front axle with lego hubs Edited March 28, 2013 by legotechnicblue Quote
legotechnicblue Posted March 28, 2013 Posted March 28, 2013 Or does anybody have a parts list for any axles? Quote
colinrichardson Posted April 8, 2013 Posted April 8, 2013 I would really enjoy some help! I think you can find sr3d files of most of sheepo's subassemblies in the MPS section of his site: http://www.sheepo.es/p/mps.html Quote
legotechnicblue Posted April 8, 2013 Posted April 8, 2013 But the sr3D files won't work on my computer! And anybody know how to start a topic? Quote
legolijntje Posted April 8, 2013 Posted April 8, 2013 You can also open the l3b files in LDview. You can alsu just rename the .l3b files to .ldr to open them in other programs Quote
legotechnicblue Posted April 8, 2013 Posted April 8, 2013 How? I am not very experienced in those areas Quote
legolijntje Posted April 8, 2013 Posted April 8, 2013 Well, just select the file in the file explorer you're using and remove the .l3b part and type .ldr instead. What's the problem you're having with sr3d builder? Well, it's easier to post your problem with sr3d builder here (if you want), because that's the topic which the author of sr3d builder is reading too Quote
Bzroom Posted April 8, 2013 Posted April 8, 2013 As I see it, the advantage of the modular system would be to replace the modules. For example, switching out the solid rear axle to be a steered independent one, to give your model 4 wheel steering. To only use these components as a starting point for a model seems to have limited use. In other words, if you only build one pair of axles and one frame, then there's not much point in it being modular. The front and rear mounting sizes being different seems to prevent a lot of combinations. You should be able to put the same axles on the front or the back. The variety of the axles is subtle too. It would be cool if there were wide axles, lifted axles, dropped axles. Maybe you want to make a super car one day, and the next day you want to lift it like the Boss. The next day you want it to have tank treads. This would be a large advantage of the modular system. Quote

legolijntje Posted April 9, 2013 Posted April 9, 2013 I'm not really sure but when I go to open it on my desktop, it loads and then crashes and does the same thing over again. Ah, that's probably because you haven't the right DirectX version. The website says you have to use this update if the program crashes while starting. I hope that helps Quote
legomuppet9 Posted April 9, 2013 Posted April 9, 2013 I've had a bit of a play and have worked out how to convert it into .ldr and then found that the way sheepo built the model is very logical so you just click each part in the inventory and hey presto (low quality but hey ho) instructions conversion: http://www.mediacollege.com/microsoft/windows/extension-change.html obviously change the .rtf to .l3b and the .txt to .ldr Then open in MLCad, and click on each part in the inventory list Simples Quote
750ACE Posted April 9, 2013 Posted April 9, 2013 I thought the pictures were clear enough to just build with trial and error. There are not that many parts and low level of difficulty. Quote

legotechnicblue Posted April 9, 2013 Posted April 9, 2013 Hey! Ya your right. I have a hard time building by pictures. Plus I would like a parts list so I know what parts to buy on BrickLink. Quote

Blakbird Posted April 11, 2013 Posted April 11, 2013 You should try playing around with the software a bit. You'll find a lot of features which will be useful to you at one point or another. It should take only a few moments of poking around to find the parts list export on the menu. Quote
