February 19, 201213 yr Is it me or does the TH look out of place compared to the rest of the Modulars because of it's size? By the way the rest of the setup in the background looks amazing! I don't think so. Buildings on a street can be all sizes. I'm working on a 2-story (plus roof) modular for my town... I think some variety is nice.
February 19, 201213 yr Wow they look amazing together. Market Street is missing though, but some don't consider it as part of the line. I'm not that keen on Town Hall as a stand alone building, it didn't take my breath away like CC or GG, but I'll have to buy it to keep the street going I'm sure the reason for that is because CC was the very first of it's kind, then GG was first to have detailed interior. Town Hall being the sixth in the line, I would imagine not much would take your breath away like CC did. Not to mention, all the fantastic MOCs we've seen since the theme started.
February 19, 201213 yr All modulars in one line (including 10224 ) Seeing the all together makes the Town Hall look rather plain, in my opinion. The facade of the Green Grocer, for instance, is much more sculpted, and more beautiful therefore.
February 19, 201213 yr Seeing the all together makes the Town Hall look rather plain, in my opinion. The facade of the Green Grocer, for instance, is much more sculpted, and more beautiful therefore. Maybe. But considering what type of building they each are supposed to be, I think it's still alright. Green Grocer-style townhomes are just beautiful in real life, whereas the style used for the Town Hall is also nice, but overused to the point of seeming trite.
February 19, 201213 yr I believe some of you mentioned this already, but the TH looks out of place when put together with all the other modulars. I think the TH looks better as a standalone building.
February 19, 201213 yr I love the Town Hall, but I think the size of it makes it feel out of place. I know that some people were complaining about the size of Pet Shop compared to the other buildings, I can only imagine what they think of Town Hall... I understand LEGO's intentions to make this building the biggest of the modulars, but when there is no spaces in between the buildings this modular disrupts the flow of the street.
February 19, 201213 yr I agree that the Town Hall is the odd man out in that layout, but I don't think size alone is the issue. There is something about the level of detailing that just feels... off, in a way, which isn't to say that there aren't some really great things going on with the Town Hall, just that it feels simplified compared to the rest. The fact it is so tall makes you feel it should be the most detailed, the most iconic, and frankly it isn't. I'm a huge fan of them mixing up the sizes a bit, but perhaps their tallest entry would have been better served by something else. Still like the Town Hall a lot more than the Pet Shop, though.
February 19, 201213 yr I think, when the Town Hall is placed between Green Grocer (to the left) and another bigger Modular (Fire Brigade or Grand Emporium), it wouldn't look so out of place.
February 19, 201213 yr I think, when the Town Hall is placed between Green Grocer (to the left) and another bigger Modular (Fire Brigade or Grand Emporium), it wouldn't look so out of place. I think there's a certain art to placing the buildings in the right order. For example, I don't think the Pet Shop buildings look right next to the Green Grocer. They just look completely out of scale. Also, the Fire Brigade doesn't look right next to the Grand Emporium - it looks like the latter should be towering over the former.
February 20, 201213 yr Really, I think the main problem is that the Town Hall is placed right next to the Fire Brigade - the two are just way too similar. It makes the FB look like the TH's clingy little brother or something. I am curious to see how other people arrange their modulars and their justification for their own layouts.

Agree the arrangement would look better if the TH is not directly next to the FB

Town Hall being the sixth in the line, I would imagine not much would take your breath away like CC did. Not to mention, all the fantastic MOCs we've seen since the theme started. Yes, that's definitely a reason. I feel that the modular line has lost the wow factor, as we've been treated with many well detailed buildings since CC came out. But it is still one of my favourite lines and I hope we'll be getting many more. As far as Town Hall is concerned I think it would have been more appealing if the set was not so similar in design to FB. I'll still be buying it though. The piece count and the prospect of extending the modular street (even though I have no room left for another building) is what is drawing me to the set at the moment.

That is right, I am currently in the dilemma whether to get the FB since the TH looks like a upscale version of it but since the FB is still available I feel inclined to get it on fear that I would regret further down the track
February 20, 201213 yr In the picture with all the Modular Buildings together I also think that the placement is a little off. I would start with CC then PS, GG, TH, FB, and then finish with GE at the end. Since it's very possible that the next building will be another corner building I will have to think of something new anyhow. I herd rumblings it may be a flower shop....... boy another year before we find out! Edited February 20, 201213 yr by grogall
February 20, 201213 yr I'm not sure I'd even put it in a street. If I buy it (will have to wait towards the end of the year, have too many others to build), I might try and put windows in the side and have it standalone - perhaps with a green area/fountain in front of it.
February 20, 201213 yr I feel like the GG and the FB are out of scale with the PS, the TH and the GE. The CC is in between, with widely spaced large windows on the top floor and closely spaced narrow windows beneath them. I'd use the CC as a corner building to separate the different sets of buildings. I think I will place them in the order: FB, GG, CC, TH, PS and GE.
February 21, 201213 yr Not sure if anybody noticed this but the clock face, seems to be an almost exact copy of this? except for the roman numerals !? I know that the one of the new Lego Architecture sets will be big ben but could we also be getting a larger one?
February 21, 201213 yr Hi GRogall, you should mention the potential source of your post. (www.1000steine.de, I'm not allowed to post Links: www.1000steine.de / 1000steine / forum2 / forum_entry.php?id=241374) Greetings ThomaS / tsi Edited February 21, 201213 yr by tsi
February 21, 201213 yr Sorry Thomas, But your post on 1000steine.de was not known to me! I was looking into the new architecture set 21013 and noticed the similarities there.

February 22, 201213 yr I really like it, all parts of it. great details, and a nice internal layout. also the facade is instant town hall look for me. Bart
February 22, 201213 yr You’re quite right, most remiss of me. I should also have mentioned her charming voice and engaging presentation manner. Better? (joke) I'm really charmed by this amazing set and by the designer Fortunately I get no girlfriend or I would've been floged a lot if caught watching this video It seems the two of you don't know when to quit. Enjoy your suspensions...

February 22, 201213 yr I'm so in love with this set. It's nice to see other designers tackle a modular building, and I love it's open-plannedness (there's a better word I could use, but it escapes me..). For her first large scale model especially, Astrid's down a stand-up job, clearly training as an architect can help with Lego designing.
