WhiteFang Posted February 17, 2012 Posted February 17, 2012 Thanks Boney! This is totally awesome! The interior is superb incredible and the first LEGO working elevator is amazing. I will really look forward to get this set as soon as I can! Enjoyed the video feature as well. Quote
Capt. Redblade Posted February 17, 2012 Posted February 17, 2012 I don't pay attention to the Modular Buildings as a general rule, but this set might be enough to change that. I do love me some politics... Quote
sonicstarlight Posted February 17, 2012 Posted February 17, 2012 As always, I gained a greater appreciation of the model when I watched the video. It still has a few awkward things about it (the interiors especially), but I'll definitely be first in line on release day! Quote
Niku Posted February 17, 2012 Posted February 17, 2012 What is the piece that is milky white and connects the bottom of the dish below the globe to what I think is an upside-down palm tree trunk? I think it could be The One Ring piece just in other color. Quote

Arigomi Posted February 17, 2012 Posted February 17, 2012 A bank with a drive through ??... What the hell .. I knew things where strange in the USA but this xD It might help to clarify what they are. They are drive through ATM machines. Having Astrid present this model is a good reminder that the majority of sets are a team effort. While there is a lead designer, it takes several designers working together to make sure sets can pass the quality control and review process. I think the challenges associated with designing a government building were met. It can be tough creating a facade that doesn't repeat the same thing on every floor while still looking natural. The interiors do a good job of giving purpose each room on every floor. Quote
Legogal Posted February 17, 2012 Posted February 17, 2012 Will definitely add this set to our complete modular collection....love these buildings! The dark orange color is a lovely choice....it is one of the first color of bricks I started collecting because it is such a wonderful tint of orange. The size is appropriate for what is often the largest building in a traditional smaller town. And the elevator is a nice touch as well. Last year I added the girl's orange torso to my minifig collection when it was introduced in a large brick set. It is one of my favorites. The new bride looks ravishing! So glad there are 8 minifigs as the earlier modulars did not have enough folks. Can't wait to build this one! Way to go Lego! Quote
Legobrandon Posted February 17, 2012 Posted February 17, 2012 For some reason, I love the torso the male child has (Rainbow spacemen). Quote
Hinckley Posted February 17, 2012 Posted February 17, 2012 I'm going to pre-emptively strike down any more creepy comments about how hot Astrid is. Yes, she's attractive, but please show some respect. Some comments are tasteful and nice, but the focus on her looks is disrespectful in my opinion, and disrespect won't be tolerated here. Besides, Jamie is 10 times hotter. This topic is about the Town Hall. Talking about the designer's presentation, job and talent is fine. Too much focus on Astrid's looks and I'm going to start suspending people. Sorry Astrid. If anybody tries to create a separate "Astrid Fan Club" topic, they'll be instantly suspended. Carry on! Quote
Vindicare Posted February 17, 2012 Posted February 17, 2012 For some reason, I love the torso the male child has (Rainbow spacemen). I like it a lot myself. This will be my first *officially* bought one(I eBayed one before). Can't remember where, but someone was making, and selling, that exact shirt! I think it was on flickr, and the posting was old, otherwise I would've bought one. Do we not have a firm release date yet?! Quote
merdox Posted February 17, 2012 Posted February 17, 2012 I think it is this piece: Or something like it but shorter. No, its this T-piece. Look at wall! It mirror at the wall. Quote

I have to agree. One of the things I like about this forum is how it is generally free of some of the worst aspects of the internet. I used to be on a Transformers forum until I got sick of all the comments about Megan Fox and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley. Maybe better to think about how this is one of the most gender equal sets ever created. True, the highest position (mayor) is held by a man... but so is the lowest position (janitor). The second most important position (photographer) and second least important position (secretary) are held by women. If you think of the bride and groom as equal, and also the two children, it averages out so that men and women are balanced perfectly equally. Quite an achievement. No, its this T-piece. Look at wall! It mirror at the wall. Oh yeah... good spotting. And clever photography from Lego for hiding the bar sticking out of the side of the model... Quote
dartmar Posted February 17, 2012 Posted February 17, 2012 I have to stop drooling now. That really looks great and fits right in with the other buidling of wich I own none. Here it is tradition that the winning football team shows the trophy on the balcony of cityhall so that gives me an idea for aMOC. Quote
Younge Posted February 17, 2012 Posted February 17, 2012 For some reason, I love the torso the male child has (Rainbow spacemen). I love it too. It actually reminds me of this t-shirt from Threadless: http://www.threadless.com/product/576/Funkalicious/tab,guys/style,shirt Quote
Brickmamba Posted February 17, 2012 Posted February 17, 2012 Nice pictures and video, very much looking forward to getting my hands on this one Quote

GRogall Posted February 17, 2012 Posted February 17, 2012 The Town Hall website at TLG is now up! Release March 1st, Remember this date changes quite a bit before the release! Quote
meyerc13 Posted February 17, 2012 Posted February 17, 2012 It might help to clarify what they are. They are drive through ATM machines. That's part of what most banks around here offer, but most also have lanes with pneumatic tubes and tellers who service strictly people in the drive up lanes, for example: Aren't these found everywhere in the US? Or is it mostly used in areas where we get a lot of cold and snow? As for the Town Hall, I haven't purchased any of the modulars yet, the $149 price tag is just a bit higher than I'm comfortable spending on a LEGO set, although I must admit I've been tempted a few times by the fire station. It will be interesting to see how the higher $200 price tag will go over with LEGO fans like me who were hesitant at the $149 price, the new higher price makes it much easier for me to pass on this set, even though it is beautiful and it's a good value for the number of pieces you get. dhaas06 Posted February 17, 2012 Posted February 17, 2012 A lot of you don't seem to realize that the rainbow spaceman torso actually came out in an Agents set in 2009 and has been in a few other sets since. (I've also seen it in the Build-a-Minifigure assortment at a Lego store.) It's a great print, and I welcome the chance to get more! Quote

It's not just cold places. I've seen them up and down the U.S. East Coast. I never realized they were so unheard of in other countries; we've had them over here for decades. The town hall is smashing, and I particularly like the facade atop the columns. It reminds me of a lot of colonial architecture like I see in my hometown. Quote
